Also if I’m with someone they don’t need to dismantle the wheelchair. They place it in the back. Even if I started walking tomorrow I would still own a wagon. All the benefits of a SUV but it drives like a car not a truck. The Europeans have it right. Wagons over SUVs. BTW: my V70R is a beast to drive. 300 hp turbo and Brembo brakes. What’s not to love. I knew this review was coming and I couldn't wait for it. I'm a Volvo fan (not 100% pleased with the current direction of the company) and I own the ancestor of this car, the 1990s Volvo V40. I'm also a fan of wagons. I actually see a lot of its DNA in this, even the overall side profile looks very similar, of course with much larger dimensions for the newer model. I saw multiple people complain about the ride quality. I think it's due in part to the wheel and tire size, which are just too big IMO. Since this is not a sports car, wheels that are a tad smaller could improve the ride without damaging the handling too much. I really wish Volvo would still offer 5 cylinder options, but with the insane emissions standards we have in Europe (and China) these days, it would be almost impossible for such a small company. Otherwise, I really love this car. The interiors look amazing, the exterior looks so much better than an SUV, and it's all around an amazing luxury family car.
@benjaminsmith22874 жыл бұрын
Volvo, since I can remember, has this quality of a strong rebound but seemingly less compression than they should have in terms of their shock damping to spring rates. I think they need to work on that. It's revealed over certain types of roads only. I don't think it is a matter of the tires, it's the rebound and compression. Maybe the suspension can use more travel but I think it's more to do with compression/rebound.

If you do sign on an audio pro to rate systems, I hope you'll test the standard setups from various brands as well, to truly judge the value.

My 2004 is undoubtedly heavy, but the power of the 5-cyl turbo is plenty fun and the practicality of the cargo space is unmatched. I have a 2012 STi Hatch as well. For reference, with both lift gates closed, the V70R fits 10ft lumber, while the STi fits 8ft lumber. That's how you know it's a true wagon...it's just that much more practical than the modern day hatchback/5-door. This V60 maintains that. Love it!

Two things I didn't like about the Volvos I have driven: 1) No visor adjustment to block sun on the side windows. The sun was always hitting me when it was on the east or west of the car. 2) On center steering. I was always correcting the steering to bring back to center of the lane. I noticed on your test drive you were doing the same. You could see the subtle on center adjustments you were making to keep the car straight. Most cars require this from time to time, but it is constant on Volvos.

I had the chance to drive some Volvos as an interim courtesy driver until a few years ago. I drove quite a few different models from the old 240 to the still current XC90. While they look nice and aren't a bad place to be in, and they're fairly realiable, the ride of Volvos has always been pretty harsh on anything but the smoothest road. That and the touchscreen and lack of physical controls for the basics would keep me away from buying one. My dad once told me a story of a workshop manager, or some such title, where he worked, who was a staunch Volvo fan. One day, for whatever reason, he decided to get a company car instead; a Renault 16 (yeah, this goes back!). Within a week, the manager's wife, who hadn't noticed the car change, commented: "Have they resurfaced the road?!" They hadn't! 😄 Bad as the Renaults were, their suspensions were much more compliant than any Volvo.

Miss my V50 and didn't care for the previous and DATED generation - this car is gorgeous, bigger and I am leaning toward the Cross Country even though you can only get the T5 motor. Funny he hammered the suspension, it's why I eventually got rid of my V50 which had the Premium and Sports packages (lower suspension and bigger wheels) it had a BRUTAL ride. From what I have gathered so far the CC may not be as stiff but I need to drive one soon...if they EVER get to Utah!

Funny....I was literally just searching your videos yesterday looking for a V60 review.

Would you do a throwback episode at turbowski's shop to take the piss out of this year's cars or talk about how they've improved? I'd watch it for the Starbucks jabs alone to be honest.

Every bit that ends with LaTodd gets funnier and funnier. Keep up the amazing work, and please un-furlough Turbowski asap. Moar Todd skits!

I own the new V60CC version as well as a one-year-old xc60. Excellent review, I do agree pretty much with all of it. I did downgrade my wheels on the xc60 form 19's to 18's - a good move - and the higher platform of the SUV does seem to have a bit more give and absorption than the wagon. The CC wagon being higher up might also add a touch of give compared to the straight wagon (won't see many of the regular wagon in US). Volvo keeps getting better, these cars are a big move upward and the wagon is a particularly refined machine, maybe more than the xc60. But as he points out in the review, they need now as they have for several generations to up their game on suspension, and while they are certainly improving, they don't match the best out there. That said I am still very much enjoying both our Volvo cars and my wife considers the 2020 V60 CC wagon the best car she's ever had.

They need to get it right. You can't play upmarket without ride suppleness over harsh pavement. If the stiff riding German cars can get it right, Volvo can. They need to make it a priority.

Still love that shot when you get into the car, at the end of the video this time :)

I wish more mainstream automakers built small wagons like this.

They ALL build wagons but they don't sell them in North America.

For the infotainment lag you can just use your phone to remote start the car and warm it up before you sit in it speaking from personal experience, I own a S60 polestar

Gorgeous. Now if I could just figure out those weird TV commercials with the bearded guy sitting in the back seat making esoteric comments.

Best looking Wagon. We love our V60 D 4 AWD.

Compared to station wagons of the past, the exterior of this vehicle is absolutely beautiful. It has design elements that remind me of an elongated Mazda crossover.

Mark Villano funny. I do see some similarities as well. Def not a bad thing lol

I wish wagons in America were more popular so I didn't have to be a doctor to afford one.

This is a big upgrade over the last generation. I had a 2015 V60 with the Sport package and it was a good car, but this is so much better looking and sophisticated. It's too bad the ride still isn't that great, that was one of the biggest complaints I had with it. Mine had the 19" wheels it was terrible over bumps.

Low suspension travel plagued P3 (Yours) cars, and I guess has been brought over to the SPA cars.

Love that you're going to focus more on the in-car audio. I'm also hoping you'll review the Jaguar I-Pace sometime soon!

4:52 I have volvo on call and I start cooling the car from the app say 15 to 20 minutos before getting into the car :) Also if you unlock the car, it will also boost the air con to make the environment and with a nice temperature, for sure! I get it volvo is not a nervous quick german car ready to fire "sorry for the joke" but it's like more a relaxing kind of car in every sense even drivin it!
