I much prefer the DSG in my GTI for spirited and track driving because it allows me to focus on steering, braking and car control. That is what I driver should be focused on while driving. Even if the Veloster N out drove the GTI, the cheap plastic interior bits is a no go for me. I actually really like how nice my Mk7.5 GTI is inside and it's one of the main reasons I picked it over the Si, WRX, and the ST. If it's a car I'm going to daily and spend a lot of time in, I want a nice interior in addition to being fun to drive. ALSO. As far as the manual vs DSG. If you're planning to tune these cars, the manual can't handle much more additional torque and tunes eat up clutches on that. Even the low-torque tunes still end up needing sooner clutch replacements. The DSG is good for upwards of 400lb-ft of torque supposedly.

I bought a GTI with the Manual. The clutch started slipping at 34k miles with no mods. I drove a manual RSX Type-S for 7 years with no clutch slip, so clutch slip was not caused by me. VW refused to fix despite being under warranty. So I traded it for a DSG, because clutch failure that early in a stock car was unacceptable. I ended up loving the DSG better. Its more fun to me because its faster and because launch mode. Plus its less likely to fail. CONCLUSION: Do not buy a manual GTI unless you're okay with having to putting a higher performing clutch, many others have had clutch failure early in the GTI too. The stock clutch in the GTI are too weak for the power this car has, but the stock DSG is nearly indestructible with being able to handle over 450 lbs of torque.

Just if they had the i30N in North America... but since we’re stuck with the Veloster, my bet will always be on the GTI. If it was a 1v1 with the GTI and i30N, I think you’d really have to weigh what your goals are with the car, because both cars do their jobs to near perfection.

Because EA888 is very tunable and alot of aftermarket support. You can make a bunch a power. KDM aftermarket support is not there in comparison. A $700 tune in the gti and you are in the power of the N (probably a bit more depending on tune provider)

Great to see the GTI back on your channel! Just bought a 2018 Autobahn GTI that had been sitting in my local lot for a year, got a great deal on it. Y'all helped to convince me to give it a chance. I tried a Velocter N but I got a kid now, need a usable backseat. Though, if Elantra N / i30N was an option, I would have bought that without second thought.

The reason these two think the armrest does not slide forward is simple. They reviewed the Golf R first and the armrest on the Golf R does NOT slide forward like they do on the GTI and base Golf. I'm disappointed they didn't try sliding it first before saying that.

Guys props to you for calling out hyundai n division as a sports car manufacturer. Some people just cant accept that Hyundai can make cars other than value oriented ones.
@shizzLd3525 жыл бұрын
It's not that they can't accept it. It's Hyundai's build quality and durability that concerns people. Sport hatches get thrashed around and need to do many jobs because of their purpose. I've worked on both makes of cars and have honestly seen some terrible issues when I take apart a Hyundai. The interiors don't hold up as well either. Hopefully they start building them better and stronger for their performance line.

Just to be clear, the GTI doesn't have 'pumped in audio' exhuast noise the way say a BMW does with the sound coming through the speakers. Rather it uses a little 'noise maker' in the engine compartment which 'buzzes' to make the exhaust sound louder. Still fake, but not playing anything through the car's entertainment system.

Did VW really add more HP or are they just sandbagging their numbers less?
@bpsdetailing88225 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. I have looked up a ton of GTI dynos and the ones that are supposed to make 220 HP actually make like 230-250 to the wheels and 265+ ft lbs to the wheels.
@nicholasmumford56165 жыл бұрын
BPSDetailing It’s crazy!
@Osprey19945 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasmumford5616 Yeah I think they are just sandbagging their numbers less which means they essentially don't have to do anything but change some numbers. I looked up some 7.5 Dyno runs and I didn't see a big jump but hey I could be wrong. Either way the GTI makes more power than people think, it's faster than most people expect, it handles pretty fuckin good with sub par tires... Just buy it used and call it a day. I get it if you are buying new then yes the SI is a "deal" but it sounds terrible, it's noisy, the interior is hard where it shouldn't be and it doesn't come with a DSG. If you're serious about going fast release yourself from the mortal limitations of a standard and join the DSG Master race. Jokes aside Yuri was complaining way more than was reasonable, the DSG is plenty of fun. The only thing I miss about my MK6 was the fact I made some great memories in that car.

OspreyBravo18 I absolutely love the DSG. I had an STI with the 6MT and like the DSG (tuned) much more.
@roboticvenom19355 жыл бұрын
@@Osprey1994 the "si" is not the deal. I looked up the prices, and the reason why the GTI is priced so HIGH on msrp is for dealers to mark them down to impose savings. In just 200 miles with me there's LOADS of mk7 GTI's for 22k, one for 21k, and rabbit editions for around 24-25k.i

Perhaps you can also test these cars in everyday conditions. I find the GTI to be great all around car. With DSG being better for traffic conditions plus launch control. Also the Veloster N is nice but, subjectively speaking, I do not like the look of it. GTI has a subtlety that I love. But I'm biased. Oh and GTI horsepower tends to be under rated with many being 15-20 HP higher than stated. Also for infotainment you can control everything from the steering wheel or voice activation. Works very well. Not sure why you didn't mentioned any of that? Did you even try that? I assume not.

Just tune the GTI. I had stage 1 flashed on my GTI 3 days after I bought it lol. $1200 OTD for the Uni stage 1 ECU and TCU tunes done by a shop. It made a large difference in power. I'm impressed by my fiance's Kia Soul turbo also. The dual clutch is good and the car is quick. I put a Race Chip RS on it and it has more than enough power for a Soul.

@@andrewsilver9730 Well...my Fiesta ST interior looks miles better and despite it being cheap AF and the ergonomy issues, the color choices makes it look ''premium'' (I use that word loosely).
