2019 XC - Woodbridge 52 (Boys Sweepstakes) - Full Course

This is the complete Boys' Sweepstakes race (#52) from the 2019 Woodbridge Cross Country Classic (sponsored by ASICS). This race was run on Saturday, September 21, 2019 in the California edge-of-the-desert town of Norco.
Commentary: You'll watch California's 2018 XC Champ rip this 3 miles to shreds. Nico trims more than 20 seconds off his junior time here and smashes the course record. Teammate Jace Aschbrenner is the 2 in the 1-2 punch and Newbury Park goes 1-2-7-12 in an incredible team performance. New sheriff in town.

We're seeing a lot of comments around that point. Keep in mind, the grass was firm; almost tartan-like. Long straight-aways. Nearly dead-flat course. Temps ideal. If you can't knock 10-20 off your 3-mile PR with those ideal conditions, then you're not having a good day.

How I miss running XC . Probably was my better seasons of seasons when it came to competing throughout my once had athletic career .Competed year round since was a little girl ( road racing ; Track & Field ; Cross Country ) . Loved competing on hills -- believe to have been my strongest area where XC & road racing were concerned . The longer the distance for Track,-- the better .Took nearly 2 decades for any of my HS records to finally be broken . Silviano Mora well maybe but he didn’t like sprint. Usain bolt can jog an 11 second 100 which is sprinting for most people but it’s not sprinting for him. Therefore, he wouldn’t have sprinted the 100m. Ton of speculation that the course is slightly short of 3 miles. Woodbridge has changed venues a few times. There's a lot of pressure for meet officials to remeasure it. Even Craig Virgin who held the 3 mile record previously suspects its short. And he's not throwing shade... was very respectful. Just way too many very fast times on it, as you said.

It’s most likely not. Strava even proves this as there are hardly any races at Woodbridge that are recorded on Strava that are under 3 miles. Most are over 3 miles.

I wish they’d put this race on during mid season and not the opening. My experience with this course, this is an awesome course. Should definitely be a PR course but I don’t PR here. I PR the last few meets and I think everyone mostly does. However some people burn out so if this was mid season racing that would be swell

My son ran x-country in high-school (Wis) '13, '14, '15. He was an "8-weeker", he basically trained during the 8 weeks of each season (a little off season sporadic running once in a while). He was also on the downhill ski racing team, tennis team sr. year, lots of cycling, pickup sports (volleyball, basketball, baseball ages 7-13, touch football, ultimate frisbee, archery, table tennis (a "hustler") and a semester of high-school weightlifting. On the otherside he did Scouts grade/middle school, marched in his state champion marching band, played in area honors orchestras/bands and acted in four yrs. of theater productions. That's why only 8 weeks of concentrated running each year. He enjoyed all-around sports, but spread himself somewhat thin and never was interested in focusing on just one. His mother was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was 8. She started serious running to boost her immune system. Eventually running three half marathons and full marathon plus several duathlons. He turns 22 this March.
