Mark nice review as usual .Ive sat on the fence a long while regarding the niken but have now taken the plunge and very glad I have it's awesome . I commute ,tour and scratch it round the mountains and will do a track day when we can .To sum it up it's just great fun and is really comfy for my arthritic body love it .Yes the gt soft bags are crap but do a job ,the fasteners are pretty crap as on most bikes these days other than that it's a winner .

The "left field" nature of this bike really appeals and I'm sure it would make a fun sports tourer (second hand ones now very affordable) just the weight puts me off. She's a bit of a porker.

Thanks, nice vid, I've got a std Niken, I've done 20k miles on it and at this point two things stand out for me (and you mentioned both) 1. safe, honestly you'd have to be a lunatic to crash it. haven't crossed a centre line ...not once, not even a bit . and 2. it carves corners like ...well like no two wheeled motorcycle ever. Zero understeer, that characteristic is just so obvious now. Sticky tyres make the Niken ....well seem unbeatable on the road. Weird I know given you're touting its touring cred. It's a corner carving goldwing.

To my way of thinking this bike works primarily as a tourer as opposed to a sports bike. Interested to see how it handles rough back and dirt roads as it would have to do in Australia.

Sports Tourer indeed 👌

Ive got one, done 50k km's on it and I dont think normal motorcles can stick with a niken on any unknown twisty road. Certainly if it 's wet or possibly wet, not a chance, the front end just has so much grip.

This would be interesting on slippery Scottish and Welsh single track roads where it’s muddy. I love exploring those sorts of roads and this would seem to offer a solution 👍👍

I don't think there's Yamaha Nikon will disappear. This type of bike is futuristic we are in the futuristic atmosphere right here on Earth. This is the way to go for many / alternative / beginner / continuation. It is an ingenious bike. Most people buy bikes according to their environment / people that they are around, hardly anyone is an individual. If someone wants the Yamaha nikon bike they had better get it, this bike may help or add to a person to be more of the individual in who they were created to be...!

As im an all year round rider it just makes so much sense with that extra wheel.imagine this 3 wheel technology on an fjr 1300!!! Also has anyone thought about if Yamaha will release a tenere 900? Great vIdeo mark.cheers steve.

Two problems with the GT: the screen doesn't adjust and the bags are zipped soft jobs, not hard. Poor at this price. I'd buy the standard model. Excellent review. I have subscribed.

Excellent review thank you kindly. I rode one yesterday and couldn't agree more - feels safe and impressive and well fast enough. I rode a Kwaka z900 replica afterwards and just felt it lacked a front wheel...lol, true though.

Funny, that.

Surprised the final drive isn't shaft, interested to know if possible why Yamaha didn't add that as they did with the Super Tenere I would only get one as a tourer, highway commuter bike.
@1990-t1j4 жыл бұрын
It would put the power down and the price up.
@MrAndrew19534 жыл бұрын
1990 Maybe but it would be a much better tourer. The main thing would be the gearing and the torque.

Hey Mark, loving the content, how do you think cornering on this bike compares to an average sport bike?
@markpulling125 жыл бұрын
Hi, cornering is super safe on this having the third wheel ,you can just lean it forever,but i think speed wise an average sports bike would match it
@scottnineteen5 жыл бұрын
depends how old you are, the young will say it's not as fast to flick in, the older will say feels better and way more assured. Either way it holds or changes a line beautifully (Yamaha have really really sorted this this bike out) I say all this because I rode one yesterday, am 55 and have ridden for decades.

Not a machine for me, mainly because the extra complexity and weight. Motorcycles have gone the same way as cars over the last 40 years, in so much as getting heavier and too my mind this kills the overal feeling of the riding pleasure because of the increase in weight?
@Rene19354 жыл бұрын
I saw these at the Tour de France and thought, "what the heck are those?" It is a trike that handles a lot like a bike! I thought perhaps you wouldn't need to put down the side stand when you got off, but I saw that you did, so the front end geometry has to swivel to let the bike lean over. I wonder how far you can lean it. Your review answered a lot of my questions about this trike. It is quite an interesting machine!

I recently purchased Cosmo Moto @t - smart brake light that affixes to your helmet and detects when you are decelerating - braking or engine braking to light up and inform other road users of your presence and that you are slowing down. It also can be set up to emit a continuous light similar to that of the rear light on your motorbike whilst shining brighter if you are decelerating in addition it can be set up as a strobe/ continuous warning light as well. Have you thought about reviewing this as I believe that this is an invaluable safety aid in raising your visibility on the road at an affordable price for all motorcyclists. Please let me know your views.

It'll be interesting to see how it sells. I expect it'll appeal more to non bikers who view bikes purely as transport as opposed to those of us who are smitten with 2 wheels and the pleasure we get. I don't want to ride it in case I like it. One thing I've noticed with Yamaha in particular in recent years is the lack of properly engineered fittings e.g. Yokes and handle bars are just clipped on with general purpose plastic bolt clips with an aluminium handle bar that could of come off any bicycle. It works but if you compare it to their engineering of yesteryear it all looks a bit 'short cut' and after thoughtish.
@markpulling125 жыл бұрын
Nice comment wight thanks
@simonhughes-king5 жыл бұрын
But the "pleasure we get" is the same on this. The pleasure is in the freedom and the carving through turns and the acceleration and all the other bikey things, which have nothing to do with having that extra wheel there. For me, the extra security and safety of that front wheel adds to the pleasure. I know what you mean about the handlebars, however....if I'm going to go over/through the handlebars in a crash, then I'd like them to be nice and bendy thanks.
