2020 - 2022 Hyundai Palisade Key Not Detected - How To Start With Dead, Bad Key Fob Battery

A video tutorial on how to start a 2020 - 2022 Hyundai Palisade with a remote key fob that has a dead battery or is showing the error message Key Not Detected.
Hyundai gives the following information on what to do if your Hyundai Palisade has a dead or broken remote key fob and won't start - showing the message Key Not Detected :
In case the ignition switch does not change with the push of a button, the key fob may have a dead
or depleted battery. In this situation, a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put the Top of the key fob against the Hyundai Palisade START/STOP ignition button and push to operate the ignition key switch. The key fob may not be able to be detected by the Hyundai Palisade key fob system if it is located next to a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device; these devices may prevent the key fob’s wireless signal from being detected and prevent the system from starting your Hyundai Palisade.

THANK YOU! We live in a rural area and both of my mother’s key fobs stopped working! Without the ability to start her push-button start 2017 Elantra, and because we have no local locksmiths, our only choice was to have her car towed 65 miles to a dealership to have the fobs reprogrammed! My 2020 Santa Fe couldn't detect the key fob. I tried this procedure and it didn't work. I removed the battery and is measured 3.0v. A new one measures 3.2 v. I repeated the procedure with the battery removed from the key fob and it started. I then inserted the original battery and the key fob worked fine. It seems like the key fob experienced some sort of glitch that was reset by removing the battery.

This method also works on the 2022 Elantra. I bought the battery from the dealer, and replaced it less than 12 months ago. Not sure why I need to replace the battery so frequently. Does anyone know? The battery was made in Japan.

There is a chip in the key fob that can be read even if there is no power to the fob. This usually indicates the battery in the remote fob needs to be replaced.
