Very thorough walk through, thanks. I have a similar X5 x40i M sport, but went with Phytonic Blue and Cognac. I really love it. I did not get the air suspension nor did I get the glass shifter (really BMW?) or soft close doors. I would gladly trade questionable standard features such as run flat tires, ambient lighting, touchscreen and gesture control (silly technology-use the volume knob!) for a better audio system (the HK is weak) and the 382 hp version of B58. It’s a great SUV but BMW could offer a better value by making some bells and whistles optional.

I got this car with every option except for the luxury seating package and merino seats due to durability. Do you think i should have gotten the luxury seating package. My dealer said it was not worth it because he said the massaging seats are mediocre and the ventilated seats are very light. Also i am in the us and they did not offer sold close doors which is weird or the heated and cooled cup holders, is it not available in the US only? Thx

However if I was getting one I would not order one without the massage seats and the ventilated seats. You don’t know what you are missing until you have used it. Very strange to hear of no soft close doors and the heated and cooled cup holders not being offered in the US. Canadian order guide has no issues there. Maybe a US specific thing. I would still not trust it and ask to see the order guide for the specific model to re-confirm these are actually not offered. Hope this helps. Congrats on a great purchase though, you will love it! Wish I could have sold you the right one.

Have you had any feedback about the poor response from the rear cross traffic warning system. My wife's Hyundai does a better job of alerting us when backing down the driveway or when backing out of a parking space at the grocery than the X5 which has yet to alert us. After being surprised twice, I took it back to the dealer who says it is operating according to spec. Disappointing for a $71,000.00 car.

Is your X5 a 2019 and up and if so do you have the Advanced Driver Assistance Package. Without that the rear cross traffic alert would not work. Not sure where you are from but I am talking about Canadian Spec. It seems to be working very well for me. Down to if I don’t break the vehicle will brake for me. Maybe if you do have the package it is not setup properly. You have to go into settings and activate it.

@@SUmer416 Thanks for the reply. I am in the Chicago area. Unfortunately too far from you. I purchased the 2021 X5 xDrive40i with Driver's Assist Pro, Luxury Seating Pkge 2, Parking Assist Pkge, and Prem Pkge. I returned to the dealer who checked out the settings and told me they are properly set and working. Perhaps if the car determines an accident is about to happen, then maybe it will respond. I was just used to vehicles that alerted me of any car crossing the rear of my car so long as I was in reverse. The BMW doesn't. Yesterday I was going to back out of a space, was in reverse, foot still on the brake, a car went within four feet across the back and there was no alert. I find that to be insufficient. Not what I am used to.

The seat and steering wheel adjust when you start the car and retract when you turn off the car. Can you adjust the distance the seat retracts so assist egress?

Yes the Steering Wheel will lift up for east exit when you switch off the engine and get back into your saved position when you unlock and get in. The seat however does not move back. Only if you had the seat setting saved under your profile, memory setting buttons on the door or stored in your personal key along with mirrors and steering then these would move back in place for you if someone else besides you used the vehicle with a separate key. Hope this answers your questions.

Btw B!W is a great car but the problem is that it depreciates like really fast...and the BMW X5 hasn’t changed that much over the years so a 2018 would be as good as a 2020 one.

The Generation until the MY2018 were great by the 2019 and up Generation are completely different and even the drive feels different and much better.

Some have LED’s and Some have the upgraded Laser Lights. These are the ones with the blue strip in them. Maybe that is what you are seeing?

I would personally go with the 22" wheels with the summer/ performance non run-flat tires.

It is an SUV not a sport car. Huge wheels does not make any sense. If you buy a car just for the looks of the wheels just get a sport car. I don’t want to worry when hitting a pothole, but then it is just me...

Dian Van Der Merwe, this customer picked this setup as only this wheel and tire package setup gives you the option of all-season tires. The 21” and 22” look the best on it but those options are only available with Summer/ Performance tires so winter tires in colder months would be required and we here in Canada do see those colder months with ice and snow.
