Hi, UK C3 owner here.. big thumbs up for the C8 from me, best Vette for years. Did i hear Zack call the C3 a poster car.. i completely agree with him but im a bit surprised, i thought there was a bit of a stigma attached to the C3 in the US? Anyhow, back to the C8.. at the end Leh said 'when we look back in 15 to 20 years from what Corvette is doing with their mid engine platform... esh'... controversial but i dont think there will be a mid engine platform in 20 years, it will be electric motors front & back and we will look back nostalgically at the C8 as one of the best Vettes there ever was.

I think all Corvettes are eye-catching except for the C4. This one looks like a mix between a Ferrari and a Lambo. GM may want to refine those points so it looks more like a GM, but the shape is correct. I would love to have this car. For the average Joe, this is a blast of a car. Not all of us will be lucky enough to drive as many makes and models as these guys get to drive, so it would be difficult to compare it to anything but a daily driver at this point. I love my 2015 Malibu and I would take this Vette any day if it feels as good or better than my Malibu. My 78 Trans Am is a beast, but is no way a performance car like this C8.

Some how, the C7 Corvette speaks to me more. I was excited when I heard only $60K to embarrass an Ferarri; however, the exterior design and recent reliability/quality issues was a bit disappointing. I can somewhat forgive the lack of a manual option because ~130-350hp is the sweet spot for manual fun on the road, any more horsepower and the experience is less engaged. You would hit the speed limit before reaching 4th gear. And if you’re racing a Lotus for tenths of a second you’re gonna want all the gearing advantage you can get. Years ago my friend tried to convince me the Chevorlet Corvette was still a muscle car much like the Dodge Viper. Nowadays you basically get a supercar
@tunethetoy72253 жыл бұрын
This one was like a checkmate from GM, sure it may not sell as well as the F-150 but in 10 years no one will care for a Ford pick-up. I’m really curious to see the way people are going to tune these things too.
@robj27043 жыл бұрын
1. People who look at this C-8 and appreciate it will not be interested in an F-150, and vice versa. 2. With hood clearance not being an issue any longer, I can see the move to a DOHC V engine, of yet to be determined number of cylinders. Hopefully, they will stay with 8 cylinders. The LS type platform, though extremely reliable, has been around a long time and it's time for an upgrade. 3. I see this C-8 platform handling body line changes in the future, with more rounded features. The Countach introduced the hard body lines 40+ years ago and that time is gone. Ferrari has mastered the rounded look and it is a now design. It is good they are keeping a reasonable roominess in the occupant compartment compared to exotics.

First of all: I think the 996 is far too often criticized! In its own right (without some Porsche fanatics) it is an awesome car - and only the headlights are maybe not the most beautiful- but even about them: nobody is complaining about the looks of a 911 GT1! The Corvette? I wish, that Chevy would have found a design language like Cadillac. For me Vettes looked always like Faux-raries - the new one with a slight Japanese twist (if the Japanese could produce what the original concept cars look like).

Every Corvette review should specify if the car has stock front suspension geometry or if it’s running touring car levels of camber. 8 for engine sound or pumped in audio?
@UberSpartanVG3 жыл бұрын
You mean the track alignment specs Chevy offers? I wouldn't call it touring car spec by any means just infinitly better when driving fast, camber really saves your tires on track. Different geometry would require new parts to change the bumpsteer rate, camber gain under compression, and anti squat.

Dude, these aren't One Takes. They almost certainly drove the car, gathered their thoughts and came to their conclusions, and then shot some rolling footage and the in car driving footage where they express their thoughts on the car. On a produced video with something of a budget, where they seem to consistently have a racetrack rented, they aren't hopping in the car and giving their impressions straight off the cuff. And when they are shooting the in car, if they can have the car softer, it's almost certainly better for filming. It doesn't mean they didn't drive it hard in track mode when they were actually doing their evaluations.
@inudude153 жыл бұрын
@@flatspin99 Dude, search "Leh Keen Rain Dance" on here, it's on the Drive channel. If he was afraid of a C8 in track mode, you'd be shitting your pants turning the car on let alone wringing it out on a track.
