It's always nice to get a new video from my friend in Colorado. It was so nice to see you superimpose graphs between banks. Happy New Year, Chad!

Thanks for watching. I hope your staying warm up north. The launch scan tools can also display more than one data pid per graph but the navigation is a little more difficult.

February 20, 2024, there is a recall on this bank 2 exhaust cam position actuator valve solenoid,if the check engine light is on due to this!

Nice video always learning something from your video. I wonder if we had a scope on the cam sensors will we able to see the delay on actuation?
@ThePracticalMechanic2 жыл бұрын
It would have required cam sensor, crank sensor and vvt control to be scoped. Afterwards we would have to go back and measure the time it took to respond. It can be done but is time consuming. I find the scanner faster in this situations.
@ThePracticalMechanic2 жыл бұрын
We could have also used to scope to try and watch the solenoid movement by watching the current and amperage while manually activating the solenoid. It’s hard to see the spool movement while it’s being pwm controlled by the pcm.

No need to loosen up or remove intake to remove vvt valve.

Tons of color do owners getting the same problem but P0014 code? Is that on the other side? Love to see which one to replace the 04 code
@ThePracticalMechanic Жыл бұрын
I have had a bunch in lately. Most owners agree to replace all 4 to prevent the other solenoids from failing shortly after getting the vehicle fixed. Some only want to replace the bad one with the understanding that is another one fails under the intake they will have to pay labor again.

My chevrolet dealership only replaced bank 1 when my P0014 came up. A couple months later, here I am with a P0024. That's the exhaust bank. Same problem, same part, different code and location. I highly recommend pushing for all 4 to be replaced if you visit a dealship. Unfortunately, I have had a heck of a time trying to find the parts to replace myself.

Question, is the same for the other bank. The exhaust selenoid for the Bank 1 is at the right side of the other selenoid that im assuming is the intake one
@ThePracticalMechanic Жыл бұрын
The intake solenoids are the towards the middle of the engine and the exhaust are towards the outside of the engine. The bother bank is much easier to change since you do not need to remove the throttle body or intake plenum.

Is this repair covered under power train warranty?
@ThePracticalMechanic2 ай бұрын
@@oneguyatthesametime you would have to call your local dealer and check your vin number and mileage.

HI, I got a p0024 code and a p0019 code. So I replaced the vvt solenoid (all) and then I replaced the camshaft position sensor cleared the code and drove around over 30 miles no check engine light. Now the light is back on. What is my next step? I usually work on diesels....
@ThePracticalMechanic Жыл бұрын
Do you have a scantool? I would monitor the vvt error PID and see when and if it acts up. Do you have good oil and filter installed? I had a tundra yesterday with a collapsed filter causing vvt codes.
@FernandoLopez-rd8jv Жыл бұрын
Does anyone know where the vvt is at in this truck? I do not think it is the same as the camshaft position solenoid.
@ThePracticalMechanic Жыл бұрын
I changed out the vvt adjusting solenoid. This engine also has a vvt lock solenoid that is used to lock the camshaft during auto start-stop events.
@alisabeasley7764 Жыл бұрын
On my 2020 colorado my camshaft position sensor is on the passenger side in the back. Not hard to get to.
@mohamedkasim8799 Жыл бұрын
Where did you find the problem
@ThePracticalMechanic Жыл бұрын
Based on experience I monitored data to see which camshaft was responding slower than than the others and confirmed it matched my code. Service information may have led us to the point but would have required additional testing. We could have swapped the solenoid and verified that the code now sets on a different camshaft.
