2020 Citroen C3 Aircross 1.5 HDI Engine Service

Servicing a 2020 Citroen C3 Aircross fitted with the 1.5 BlueHDI (YHY) Engine. It was getting an oil change, new oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter.
This is very similar to the older 1.6 8v DV6 engine fitted to most PSA Cars, however, the fuel filter location is different with it being located under the car in front of the rear wheel. While it might be a nuisance for someone using axle stands, I personally found this a better arrangement compared to the older engine. The filter is actually easier to remove (despite needing a 19mm hex socket or M12 bolt to undo the fuel filter housing lid), it was an easy filter to change and the priming procedure was made very simple due to the fact there was an in-tank fuel pump.
It is still quite an easy car to service, not too sure exactly what the parts cost as my friend who owns the car supplied them in the boot but I would imagine it is all similar to the older engine.

Hello, how can I remove the remanent of oil from in a hdi 16v 1.6? Because the bolt of the sump is pushed up?

Hello, I have seen videos that involve using a slide hammer welded to an old sump bolt. To be honest ive seen these engines with well over 250k miles with an unmodified sump, same for the older 1.6 16v engine if you keep on top of the oil changes and use the right oil then it should not be an issue, good maintenance is the key to making sure these engines last. If you wanted to be very sure then the sump would need to be dropped and cleaned out.

Chuck in a pint of fresh oil with the sump plug out before you do the main fill at the end. That’ll swill out a decent amount of the remnants of the old oil.

Tbh i found it a lot easier a process overall than the 8v engine, no messing about trying to prime it, and usually your trying to avoid bits of bulkhead insulation getting in. Not to mention the hassle of separating the top from the filer on the 8v they always seem to put up a bit of a fight

@@peugeotCitroen2CVSome 1.4's have pretty convenient type of filter. You replace whole plastic housing and bleed the return line with air compressor. Much easier for me than diving under the car ;)

Would the fuel filter be in the same place on the 2019 version?

Which oil this engine uses? I have 308 2018 with same engine, and also did you ever had any issues with 7mm chain snapping? Thanks

all 7mm have that issue, some of them after 60k km you have to swith to 8mm, or keep 7mm and prey

@@endrjubdg I've replaced 7mm with 7mm chain after 135k, it was fine and factory okay. I will change to 8mm when I get the parts available.

Hi,I have a new Peugeot 3008 diesel 1.5 hdi. I did a first oil change at 1400km however the oil was very black like ink. Since then I have done another 800km and the oil is looking the same.. is it normal to get black so soon?

Thanks for your reply, I was concerned because I have a Citroen dispatch 2.0 bhdi and I change the oil every 10.000km and the oil doesn't look so black compared to 1.5 hdi with only 1.400km.

Hi, i think these use an electric motor that drives a hydraulic pipe so you need to look around the engine bay for it. But i am not 100% sure. They could well be using a fully electric system now

That is not ideal oil change. You should remove open cap, and remove filter why draining, so the rest of the oil comes out from the bottom. You didn't open anything on the top to let the air in so it pushes the oil down there easily :/

The crankcase breather will allow air in, its not a totally sealed system so the oil does drain.
