This video shows the stereo install of a full JL Audio system in a 2020 Ford F350 King Ranch Diesel www.ford.com/trucks/super-dut... done by Electronics Plus www.electronic-plus.com/ in Manassas, VA. You will get to see the final product and hear a lot of data of how the system works, and how and why the system is programmed and set up the way it is. You will see the fine craftsmanship done by Electronic Plus staff. They were truly a pleasure to deal with. Everyone from Chris, Omar, Johnny, and more were great. The system sounds amazing and looks just as good.
The goal of this system was not to be the loudest on the block. We wanted a factory look and feel, with the highest fidelity sound available keeping that factory look. In a truck you have limited space. JL audio in our opinion provides the best sound and small sizes for tight spaces. Electronic Plus found the way to mount everything with a factory look without altering anything major in the truck.
www.jlaudio.com/pages/discove...
We used full digital signal with this system. Zen Audio NavTV DSP allowed use to keep the full factory Ford computer to stereo integration. It provides a flat pure digital signal to run to the JL Audio equipment. This is the best sound signal possible out of modern audio equipment with virtually zero latency.
navtv.com/products/NTV-KIT889...
We picked JL Audio, and specifically the VXi amps, for several reasons. The VXi amps are small, cool running, and efficient. JL’s Digital network VXi-HUB provides a full digital signal and CAT5 communications to each amplifier removing latency and simplifying programming and tuning. The VXi amps with DSP tuning software remove the need for a separate DSP unit saving space and power, allows for active crossover use, and provides unlimited programming and tuning ability from your laptop.

www.jlaudio.com/products/vxi-...
www.jlaudio.com/products/drc-...
www.jlaudio.com/products/vxi-...
JL Audios C7 series component speakers are top of the line. Each speaker is running its own channel of active crossover programming from the DSP. No inline passive crossovers are used. Having a dedicated midrange changes the sound profile dramatically over a component speaker and even separate tweeter. Our tweeters and midrange speakers are placed in dash with custom mounted pods for a brilliant front sound stage. Omar spent almost 20 hours perfecting these pods. The component woofers are placed in the doors with major insulation and multiple sound dampening materials. C5 composites fill the rear surround sound also with sound deadening.

www.jlaudio.com/collections/c...
www.jlaudio.com/collections/c...
www.jlaudio.com/products/c5-6...
JL Audios TW5v2 are amazing for small spaces. We ran ours in a custom-built ported box from Electronics Plus. Omar nailed it on this box. Most people only do sealed boxes with the TW5s. Omar has figured out how to make these slam out of a ported box and even extended the crossover point higher than sealed. Dual TW5’s with the 1000 watts from the VXi has more bass than we will ever need. The stock seat height was not altered.
www.jlaudio.com/collections/c...
In closing the system looks and sounds amazing. It kept a factory look and feel and it rocks out beyond belief. The detail and clarity in the sound is superb. I recommend Electronic Plus for custom work, installs, and equipment sales. I recommend JL audio for high fidelity and powerful sound, with factory look and feel, full networked and digital stereo signal, in very tight spaces. You really cannot beat this set up for what it is.
Thanks for watching and I hope you either learned something and/or enjoyed the video!

I can run digital that way and have done some testing. Honestly I can't tell a difference. The NavTv integration module does a great job of converting the factory signal to digital and keeps the factory features. This truck has so many good features that if I hook it up your way, I lose all the sound connected to that. I am as well running Android auto which I use all day when I'm running around to navigate. Running the Tidal app with Master tracks direct with the USB-C from my phone to my head unit works awesome for me and has great clarity. My goal of this build was to have it act like a factory system and we did it. Thanks for the comment!

Can I ask how you ran the system ground for the amplifiers? I know NAV-TV requires direct battery grounding to achieve less than 1 ohm resistance. These trucks also have a battery management system and Ford doesn't recommend direct battery grounding bypassing the hall effects sensor (BMS). Also what size cabling did you use for the amplifier power supply and grounds? Your system sounds great! Thank you?

@@twonkyxxl I have owned this system less than a year and now have tinnitus of the ear 🤠. Andra Day or Adele belting out vocals, or Greta Van Fleet mastered tracks on tidal screams so loud in here. Tidal app mastered tracks with a usb-c hook up will not distort even at full volume. The amps in the tuning software are just occasionally hitting from green to yellow. You hear every sound too, the clarity is amazing. Rock on man... but I think it might be time for ear plugs when I have this thing cranked up or I'll be deaf in a few years.

Thanks for the video! I have a 2016 Tundra and run C7 3 way, C5 Filler in rear doors (crossed over) on a VXi800/8i and it is amazing. I am also running a custom box with 2 Image Dynamics IDQ subs on a HD1200/1 amp. I am very intrigued by the ability to port the TW5s. You mention in a comment below that you had them sealed at one point. I temporarily had 2 of them in my Tundra with the stealthbox. I thought the bass was very "buzzy" and shallow sounding. Of course very loud but could not even come close to hitting as hard as 2 full size ported 12s. I wound up taking them out and putting my 12s back. When you ported these how do they compare to full size ported subs? If the hit harder what was like the percent increase in hit if that makes sense. I want my whole system to be JL Audio so looking at options. One last question how high up is your bass knob in this video?
@Tuckgcinc
@Tuckgcinc 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you got an awesome build going very similar to mine. I don't know if I can gauge an exact percentage but it definitely increase the volume and changed the sound profile dramatically. It hits a lot deeper and fuller plus more volume. It's a night and day difference between the factory stealth box sealed. I don't have the exact specifications in front of me but I know with ported you can also open the frequency band up wider on the crossover for the sub which helps blend between the component woofer and your subs. I can pull that information off the tuner at a later date.
@Tuckgcinc
@Tuckgcinc 3 жыл бұрын
I will add I don't think you'll ever get the full bass out of the tw5 compared to a full size box and normal sub. I am running the 13.5 TW5v2 which I think are better than the 12s TW5. I think they make two models. I feel like the ported box is a good compromise between the two scenarios. I was willing to sacrifice a little bit of sound quality and volume for keeping my seat stock. This said it's more bass than I'll ever need. I keep the gain flat in the tuner and adjust my base knob up and down accordingly for each song. I have a lot more volume and power in it that I don't even use

@Tuckgcinc

The system is tuned for the driver. The left driver side speakers were placed almost in line with eyesight to the driver maybe just off 5 or 10 degrees to fit within the area and look aesthetically pleasing. The right speakers we just set the same way so it didn't look weird it was symmetric. I basically tilted them back and laid them as flat as I could without impacting the sound. I wanted it to look a stock as possible so I feel our design blends in pretty well while still having awesome sound. The front soundstage in this truck is phenomenal

@Tuckgcinc 3 жыл бұрын
I had the type X better than the Rs in before the JL. They were def loud. Volume wise fairly equal to the JLs. The JLs are on a new level of clarity and detail. I also did the whole DSP thing after the alpines so not a great comparison. The JLs and Alpines are both good. You will save some money on the alpines. Depends how far you want to take it for 5-10% better sound.

Not even close! I am no fan of JL and I personally run Focal , but the C5 is in a different class than the Type R. Hope that helps, try watching that life in speed channel.. his English sucks but he reviews and compares every speaker known to man lol.

@@14U2C Thanks for the comment. My buddy has a Chevy one ton with Focal on all the highs and the same JL subs. He is even running all the same JL audio amps and same power. It's a very fair comparison of the Focals versus JLs. Honestly my stereo has more clarity, depth, and in my opinion sounds a lot better. In his defense he's not running three way components up front and that's probably the difference missing the midranges. These C7s rock though! If you haven't heard them yet make sure to try to find some to listen to. I think you'll be impressed. And please don't take this comment the wrong way. I am definitely a Focal fan and had them in my last build. They're one of the best brands on the market. I just think JL knocked it out the park with C7s as well as the vxi amps with DSP.

@@Tuckgcinc 90% of guys just add an amp and a subwoofer. Once you go mids and highs you need a DSP or active crossover. Unless you really know how to tune a passive crossover network. It's hard to say what it may cost you now. I worked a deal with a local shop because they never worked with this equipment and they wanted to take on the install and gave me a good price. You going to pay a few thousand dollars for custom boxes and the custom pods. You can probably go through and do the math on what the speakers and amps cost. After that the labor to install it will be at least a day so throw another grand or two on top.

Hey bro will I notice a big difference between the c3 and the c7?
@Tuckgcinc
@Tuckgcinc 2 жыл бұрын
I would say yes if it is set up right. If you are going to go with active crossover with DSP tuning network environment, then I think it is worth the jump. If you are going to use passive crossovers with regular amps I don't know how much of a difference you will see. plus the quality of music being put into it makes a difference. I am now using Mastered tracks for the best audio. It may only be a small difference so I would only recommend spending this coin if you are an audiophile and will spend double the money for that 10% more some people will never hear. The c7s are top of the line as far as I am concerned. Yes there are ultra high end stuff on the market but my bank roll can't afford those 🤠 The only real comparison I have is before this we tried some Alpine S Series their highest end stuff. The Alpines were just as loud as these and clean, but the C7S 3 way component set up sounds better for sure. Night and day difference. I would think those Alpines are on par with the C3s but I can't say for sure. Good luck!

Great sound but that’s a rich persons set up for sure.

Call JL install support. I think they will share the info. When you call their tech support they will tell you the tuning frequencies to run the ported subs and I heard that first hand. The range is wider with the ported. I had two of these sealed before in my old truck and the two ported blows it away. The range of bass is incredible from super fast hitting to long out bass strumming. Hit me back if you don't get anywhere with JL and I will ask Omar for the specs.

The seat frame rest on the box and the speakers only rub the loose carpet. A year in banging it daily and the speakers aren't even scuffed up. We actually built it to be able to accept grills if I decided I needed them in the future, as I had the same concerns as you. So far, I have no need for them. It looks a hell of a lot cleaner without them. With them, I would worry about the rattle of the grills hitting the springs underneath the seat. My whole life I never rolled grills on subs it's just not my style, but if that's how you like it, do you buddy!
