Both rear axles are drive axles shown ...?
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
The drive axle with 4 tires is driven,....and the 2 tires behind the drive axle, which is the one furthest from the driver, is not driven. This is the tag axle. The linkage in the tag axle suspension allows each wheel to swivel and turn to reduce the turning radius of the rig. This feature locks out quickly after a certain speed.

I’m looking at this chassis and so much use of steel … wondering if composite materials might not be used in places to save weight!?
@OurJourneyInMyles3 жыл бұрын
I used to work at the place that made these frames. They are "super heated treated steel C-Channels. Virtually none of the large truck & pickup frames we made of composite. The analysis group was in charge of making all the material choices. I expect the cost and duty cycle was not a good fit.

The chassis tour was impressive but my preference is Spartan. We have a true 20k towing. Our GCVWR is 20k higher than our GVRW. I've seen.Super Cs with 40k towing capacity. The Cummings 605 hp. has 1950 ft. lb of torque. Love CoachNet. I know one guy who was canceled by Good Sam for using it too much.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
We hope we didn't bore people with the Coach-Net segment. This is an important issue for folks with a big rig to understand correctly to be covered completely when the time comes that you will need it! A full timer has a much higher exposure to needing it someday. I feel that I understand a lot more about Coach-Net after talking to Haley. She was really great to talk to.

I am wondering with all the travel you all do, how do the individual states work with your driver's license? Because you have a license in your home state and you are within you states requirements does your license cover all of the other states? I hope the question is clear.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
As long as you are complying in the state you are plated and domiciled in, you can travel ok into other states. Some states do not allow triple trailer towing, so you have to know that. Texas requires you return to every year for a vehicle inspection! Some require special RV licenses when your rig has air brakes. It's like a "poor man's CDL". Check the laws for the state you are interested in,.....

Good video. I think you are underestimating the strength in the front of a diesel pusher. First you have a much heavier fram than a car you also have the generator up there and you are sitting above the area that might collapse. My outhe negative on the super C is even the top Newmar only has a air ride cab. they don't have a airbag suspension. Plus the added noise of a front engine diesel. I am much happier with my Mountain Aire.

The Spartan was pretty interesting also, maybe it's just me but the Freightliner chassis appeared to be beefier than the Spartan. I am preparing to go full time in july and the research I've done on Progressive roadside assistance guided me into believing it was sufficient for a one and only assistance package. Many RVers on the forums are satisfied with Progressive's services. Could you list a few reasons more in detail as to why you chose to go above and beyond your insurances coverage and get Coach-net? Thank you. I do enjoy your content and hope to cross paths with you in the future.
@OurJourneyInMyles4 жыл бұрын
Joel I guess it amounts to this. The first year Coach-Net cost $249, then the renewal rate then drops to $159/year. I have seen youtube videos of folks breaking down in remote areas out west, and lesser towing companies showing up in totally undersized and inappropriate equipment to tow in a 44 foot Motorhome. If you have to flatbed tow a large rig, you are looking a thousands of dollars to tow it a long distance to a Cummins Service center that is sometimes your only solution to get the repair done correctly. Coach-Net will tow it not to the closet mom & pop garage like most towing insurance,....they will tow it to the place that is logical, and appropriate for your emergency. For $159 a year, I will not take a chance with my Progressive Coverage alone, which I also have. The progressive coverage will pay to get you off the roadway in an accident scenario. Coach-Net will then pick you up and get your rig to where you need to be for the repair to be done correctly.
