I understand everybody's frustration with the auto start-stop system but I'm going to ask you something to not bring up stopping or deleting or programming the auto start-stop out of your vehicle on this channel I am still a manufacturer technician it would be against any kind of policy for me to show you or tell you how to delete something that is supposed to be functioning on the vehicle so please I respect for me and my job and my livelihood do not ask me that s*** Secondly nobody likes the auto start-stop but I actually don't need to hear everybody's qualms with the auto start-stop it's just a venting bored and I don't want to be that guy somebody else can be that but I want to be the guy that shows you how to repair things and what's going on with things not your counselor or your therapist because you're mad at Ford

Had a similar issue on my 15’ Escape, after replace an abs wheel speed sensor. The vehicle was keeping the brakes “pushed” for a few seconds before release them (hill start assist) even on flat level. I found on a forum that needed to calibrate those sensors that you mentioned with an option called “IVD Initialization Sequence” and it worked. Thanks for sharing man.

I own a 2020 ford escape titanium with 10,000 miles plus. Couple hundred in the parking brake and auto start stop doing the same thing. My street is on a slant so I assumed that the parking brake comes on because the car is not level. But the auto start stop not working really annoyed me because it stoped working . I seen another one of your videos where you said if the vehicles sees to many stop and go's it will cease the auto start stop . I drive literally 5 mins to work and 5 min back every day my fuel economy is 12 miles a gallon. Well I recently got on the highway went about 20 miles and the auto start stop started to function again but after that day it went cold again. If your doing short trips this is the issue with the auto start stop from my experience. Also I smelled my oil stick just to make sure I'm not burning oil and I have a gasoline smell coming from my oil. I use 93 gas because the book says they recommend 91 and above but they display a picture of 87. Your a great tech I enjoy your videos !

My wife's 2020 Corsair has been exhibiting these two exact issues for over a year. Had dealer investigate last year, and they literally said it was normal, and printed me a section of the owner's manual. Even though I was very descriptive about the two issues (particularly that they worked correctly for the first 10K miles or so and then BOTH systems stopped working at the exact same time). Fast forward to this year, and now the dealer has it again and admits the auto start/stop isn't working correctly, but is still trying to claim that the parking brake is working normally (though it hasn't NOT automatically engaged in nearly 2 years no matter of incline, gear selection and brake pressure while parking). They have had her vehicle going on 3 weeks (thankfully they did provide a courtesy vehicle). I've forwarded them this video and hopefully it will help them in troubleshooting.

@Garth20113 жыл бұрын
I'll add this while I'm at it, no need for an automatic parking brake. More clusters and times it will engage when I don't want it to and won't engage when I want it to. Just more to go wrong when a simple design from the past will do just fine.

The hill start assist has helped me out a couple of times, but I would gladly do without it to make the car less expensive. Back in the day, idle was to be set high enough to keep the torque converter engaged. That was more wasteful -- but worked.

My auto start stop stopped working on my fusion and I'm perfectly happy with that. lol I hated having to manually turn it off everytime I started my vehicle. Besides that, even though the starter and engine components are designed for auto start stop, I can imagine having it off would extend the life of the starter and engine components, regardless if it was designed for auto start stop or not.

I have auto stop start on my car and I actually after a while do not even notice it anymore and actually kind of like it as it is dead silent in the car at a stop. It took me only a couple days with it to get used to it, as if I stop at a train crossing with a train I used to shut off the engine after the vehicles 4 deep were stopped and I just watch and look for the last train car approaches and then restart the engine. Now just roll up and stop and the engine shuts off. start to release the brake and the engine starts up. Its all about fuel saving and habits folks get into. Some folks hate it but after a while it just fades into the back ground and no longer matters to them It has been a annoyance for many but once a person allows them to think about it it saves fuel, pollutes less and a slight lifting of the brake pedal the engine starts up anyway.

My wife's 2020 escape does this sometimes, it doesn't do all the time but we definitely notice it, especially the parking brake thing. Sometimes no matter how flat of a area you park on the parking brake applies, and are local dealership couldn't figure it out and just says it's a safety feature if you park an a angle. I tell them I get that but I'm 10000% sure my driveway is flat, I even did the basketball in driveway to see if it rolls and it didn't lol.

I am surprised you have posted all the problems with the ford explorers especially the transmission and body quality problems like your videos!
@BusMaster992 жыл бұрын
Seems like a non-issue to me. I *want* the parking brake to automatically apply when the transmission is placed in park. The reason for that is because the parking pawl is only designed to lock the output shaft. It was never intended to hold the vehicle, but it seems like people are using it for that purpose instead of also applying the parking brake. I'm a school bus driver and a lot of the buses in the fleet I drive for don't have P on the shifter so therefore parking brake usage is mandatory. We have a couple of buses on the fleet that do have park and when park is selected, the parking brake comes on automatically, but that is intentional behavior. In addition, drivers would be unable to release the parking brake without first shifting out of park. Wish cars had that same exact functionality, where you would be required to shift to reverse, neutral, or forward first before you can release the parking brake.

more features on cars the more of a chance it will break and above all, harder to fix without knowledge of what to do.
@FixIt19753 жыл бұрын
A lot of these "features " are no doubt a result of lawsuits, operator error, customer stupidity. I like to have the driver's door open a little to line a vehicle up on the lift. With any newer vehicle with a rotary knob shifter or push button shift, it will automatically slam the car into park and apply the e brake
