Side by side I think the older model has a better profile. Looks more like an SUV whereas the newer model looks like it's trying too much with the rising beltline (which means less rear visibility for rear )

The 2019 looks more aggressive and sexier but sadly the 2019 interior make it look like a vehicle from the early 2010s. The 2020 got that boring front like the 2014 to 2016 Highlanders, they should have gave it a more aggressive front similar to the new Rev4. At least the 2020 received major Interior updates it really needed it! and finally!!!! they added CarPlay! and Android Auto!

Dale City, Virginia. The older model looks higher end but the newer model have better tech. The heated/ventilated seats now use push button LEDs instead of the ancient wheel. Just purchased a 2019 Platinum due to the savings but the new one is nice.

Hey Jeff! Great video! I'm in North Carolina too! I'm in Brevard, which is near Asheville. My family currently owns a 2015 Highlander and we love it! We are currently looking to buy a new Highlander and I think we're going to go with a 2019. I like the updates to the 2020, but there's not really any updates that make the 2020 that much more attractive for us. And I like the appearance of the 2019 a lot better. It looks similar to the 2015 we have now, which we have absolutely loved.

Well we picked up our new 2019 last night and we are very happy, nice open cockpit, not crowded like the 2020 with those tablet type screens, already used the rear window to put some bags in the back! Overall good price great financing deal!

Thanks Jeff (aka Toyota Fanboy). Looks are a subjective, but if you look under the surface, the 2020 has made some good improvements and the new platform makes for a better ride and safer vehicle - LED lights are a big deal, just one of the pluses on the 2020. The 2020 looks more refined (Lexus like). I test drove the 2020 XLE - smooth, nice tech and was very comfortable. Love the "blueprint color" - wish they would have added power folding mirrors on the higher trim. I'm waiting for the hybrid model which I will consider purchasing in the fall. Honestly, I won't miss the razor blade grill on the 2019. As soon as the hybrid hits the scene, please do a detailed video (I'm sure you will - LOL).

We just bought a 2019 xle, it’s my wife’s she don’t care for tech. good deal and interest was .9% overall saved about 6000$ in cost. The cockpit of the 2020 is like the rav4 we like the more open view of the 2019

The 2020 front end grill reminds me of the 2016. Love the 2020 tech, but I would never buy the first year of any car maker new redesign. So I will just need to make due with my black Limited 2017. :)

I sell these for a living and almost think that Toyota could have made the 2020 first and then graduated to the 2019 style and still got some more sales. The 19 is sportier.....by far. And I'll say Toyota has made the 2020 to make it look like the more conservative model they released in 2015. Less chrome. Etc.. ...just wait. In 2022 the Highlander will get the more aggressive looks of the 2019. Longer grill and better wheels.....bet my life on it.

Great review, thanks for the info. I only have one gripe about the 2020. The roof slopes down minimizing head room on the 3rd row of the 2020. My kids grow too fast for a small third row. No perfect SUV in this segment. Everything is a compromise.

Central Upstate N.Y. high above the south side of the Mohawk Valley. I have not decided which one "gets the win." They are both nice looking. That extra storage is a plus. I wonder which one tows a utility trailer best. I am a farmer and hauling "stuff" is an important selling pount were I considering purchasing a Highlander. Sometimes I prefer using my small trailer to visit the lumber yard or the feed store. I use my pickup truck to haul really heavy loads but if it is a trip to a farmer's market then my small trailer gets used. Too much electronic bullshit on both versions. 'Lane departure alert? Get Real. People need to learn to drive. I got my driver's license at 17. That was 1966. Too many bozos with a driver's license. It's no wonder so many people drive like idiots. I was looking at a used Highlander but after this video perhaps I will look at a 4 door Tacoma instead.
