Interesting that you should mention the bar oscillation Rich. I had a 2017 AT DCT and that did the same. It happened through 2 sets of tyres at multiple pressure combo’s. I returned it to my dealer and they couldn’t find anything wrong. I couldn’t tune it out with suspension settings either. The problem was more pronounced with luggage on but was there all the time and I think if I took my hands off the bars for long enough it would develop into a full-on tank slipper. It was one of the reasons I got rid of it - I was convinced it was bent (it was brand new and never dropped). It’ll be interesting to hear what Honda think (if you mention it to them) - they must know about it.

Re never touching standard suspension settings, I never did until my route to a place of work involved a section which killed my back. After playing with the rear preload I found the sweat spot for me, makes a world of difference. Now on my st1300, it needs a lot of preload adjustment for differring weight loads but getting it right the bike rides/handles so much better.

Tim has a Givi tank bag for his AT but he had to alter the tank lock for the five litre bag to fit in the correct position. Like you he would be mortified if the tank scratched due to the magnetic bag. So agree with you the AT is a mega looking bike. Enjoy your adventures together 💖xxx

Great vid as usual thanks. As regards the Calimoto App presently I am using the free app on my ST1300 as opposed to my zx6r which is having a rest or more like my body is. I have found that now and again its took me on lets say some less favourable roads particuarly on my Pan, however, if I believe them to bit challenging and would prefer slightly faster more open roads I hit the 3 dots which reroutes if you come across a closed road or diversion and therefore works as a quick rerouter.

I think the point of sitting into the bike when it’s down on its side is to use the power of your leg muscles to push the bike upright, instead of using your back muscles, as you may when facing the bike. As someone else has already said, flick the side stand down first though.
@Kurlach4 жыл бұрын
When I did the BMW ORS course in Wales the first thing they did was lay a bike down and show us how to pick it up. Lock the bars toward the screen and lift it up. None of this walking it back etc and it was easy. I like the AT, but prefer my GSA Rallye TE, but they’re all good now. All in the eye of the beholder in terms of aesthetics really.

Great vid, love the channel. I have the 2018 standard AT. Same wobble at about 40ish especially on deceleration. It doesn't develop into a tank slapper and sorts itself out, however: Solved by massively increasing rear preload - 90ish kg in riding gear and 5 clicks from max. For me this removed all wobble without the top box on. Still some headshake with the top box on but not noticeable. My guess would be that the high location and extra weight of a loaded top box creates an oscillation with the big twin banging away at lower rpm's.

I've never ridden the AT, but own a GS. I have to say I prefer the looks of the GS, but each to their own really. The GS just does everything well. I've ponied up for a the full version of Calimoto, but I found my first twisty road ride frustrating because of the amount of villages it took me through. Notwithstanding the fact that you seem to enjoy seeing these villages Richy, do you find the same thing? I want an "avoid villages" button! Calimoto says that villages should generally be avoided automatically but I'm not so sure.

@Andrew Sherif that's what I'm doing too (edited to add that the option I'm using now is "fastest route avoiding highways") and the funny thing is that the kind of faster twisty roads the app is giving me are the ones I was hoping to get with the default setting! 👍

Small roads connect villages and farms mostly so it’s not always easy to avoid them. Same with towns. I have used Kurviger.de website for planning routes in the past (Android app too but i have iPhone). It is best at avoiding villages and towns. I think Calimoto does a good job too.

Calimoto on the super-twisty route in this country is an absolute dog in my experience so far. Well suited to Cali (where it's developed from) but sheesh, I was in sussex the other day and got completely done over! Even on an AT it would have rubbish, just horrendously tight.

I must have ridden 10 routes or more now on super twisty, and have never come across a dodgy one yet! I want to tho haha

@@RichyVida I'd have thought you'd have come a cropper up there but perhaps things are generally a bit flatter? Doesn't look it from some of your other vids tbh, maybe you're just more used to better roads. It's a bit of a shock when you come across one down south, I live on the North Downs which as some properly butt puckering down hill bits. I did find my 2016 AT so top heavy that it scared the bejesus out of me, this 2020 model definitely felt better balanced so maybe it's less of an issue.

Yeah, we’re definitely not flat up here. 👍

Majority of the super twisty roads in Hampshire and Oxfordshire are single track, often with gravel or grass in the middle. But the scenery is often the best on them. 2 lane B roads are the most fun but open maps don’t seem to have uk road classification or correct junction info and that’s what Calimoto is working with.

Maybe your wheel wobble us due to your drop?probably bent something you can't see,ive rode two Africa twins and neither had that wobble 🤔
@RichyVida4 жыл бұрын
Bent something? Er no. It was more of a gentle lay down than a drop. And it was tyre pressure, as end of video (post service) it was gone.

Shaun (Tins on tour) got some little pop on things for adjusting the AT front suspension on the fly. It's on a video he uploaded. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaunp2WIr5edfM0
