My favourite bike reviewers are Simon Hargreaves, Chris Moss and Michael Neeves, but Chris N can ride the wheels off anything, on road, off road and on the track. Had a 2016 manual that I have missed every day. Immediately felt like a big dirt bike and instantly easy to ride. Waiting for improvements to the base model and Honda came through in 24. Took two test rides on a friends base 24 manual. First one in chilly damp conditions here in Oregon, someone elses brand new bike, I really took it easy, second time we dialed back the suspension, he is about 50 pounds heavier than me, and getting on that red bike the second time on a brilliant winter day was an absolute revelation, the riding position, the roar of that big twin, that fire red color in the low direct sun just blew me away. Just wired the money yesterday and they are setting up my bike. The most astonishing motorcycle I have ever ridden and I cant wait to get my hands on it!

The standard AT 2024 model is an absolute bargain, £13199 with great torquey engine, tubeless rims, cruise control, great fairing/adjustable screen, Apple car play, comfortable seat (it breaks in after a few long rides, great gearbox, rear rack and looks great. Sounds great too with the standard silencer 👍🏻

Very expensive with a few must have options, though. I put one together on the Honda configurator, and got £16000 for the standard version and £20500 for the Adventure Sport. I test rode a standard model a fortnight ago, and I really loved it. But I'll wait until 2026 to buy a 2024 model...

From back in 2010, the Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 has pretty much filled this same spot in the market. I've got a '22 ES and it's just a really good, very thoughtful product you can actually live in harmony with, no matter your disposition or the circumstances. Ride it any time, anywhere, and is a whack of fun after you get to know and understand it. It can be flogged! If Honda doesn't bring the NT1100 (not just the police version!) to the US in '25, this is very high on my list to buy. A bike like this allows you to fully enjoy the ride, not have those thoughts of contingent plans in case your rig breaks. Been there! If the plan was to keep it for a long while, I'd take one of these over ANY European, hands-down.

13:36 "It does everything well, if you want a bike you can ride ALL the time, test drive this" which is exactly what I will do in two days not in a small part based on your and other youtuber recommendations. After watching a ton of reviews on this bike, especially the 2024 AS-ES-DCT version, I concluded that a lot of the hate is for Honda selling a long distance bike with unpaved road capability under the flag of a rally bike that put on a pedestal. Everything else is people gushing over how good it actually is, how great the DCT feels and now that they ride it off road, how nimble it actually feels. Looking forward to this bike as an upgrade from a 2023 transalp, that can do almost everything but I want more comfort, better suspension and cruise control. Honda's ploy worked, I fell for it. Will update if I decide on the AT.

@@BikeWorldTVshow Just returned from the test ride and I bought the bike, traded in my XL750 TA for it. The ATAS feels lighter while standing still and riding slowly, sharper steering when at cruise velocity and the low rpm thumping when accelerating in higher gears is something I really missed on the TA. I'll have to experience all ride modes and how it holds when it is packed up for a 10 day trip, also the DCT and me will have to become friends in the twisties and switchbacks. But indeed I can see myself ride this bike daily to work, to the pub (no I don't drink), on shorter weekend trips and on long trips to the Alps or the Nord Cape or something ridiculous. This is not a cheap upgrade however and lucky for me I could find a 2024 ATAS DCT lightly used with a big discount so it offsets the write-off I am doing on the TA. That is the one thing I can recommend to people: if you can afford a ATAS 2024, it is just better than the TA but the TA is an amazing gateway drug into Honda ADVs 😁🏍 I'll update you at the end of summer if your advice held!

I think you nailed it with calling it a bike you just want to ride everyday. It just plain works and does it very well with the reliability I have come to expect with Honda.

Hello folks, Dave here. At first I got pretty defensive about the Dave references but then suddenly I realized how right he was about me and the bike. I haven't rode one (AT that is) yet but I am in the market doing research for my planned 15K mile trip around the perimeter of the good ole U.S. of A. I am beginning to realize that this may be the very bike I need to do this adventure. I don't think I will get the DCT, though, as I am old school (been riding since 1980) and I have no interest in relearning how to do low speed maneuvers. 44 year old habits are hard to break. If I do end up purchasing one of these for my journey, I promise to try and brush my teeth more often.😁 Thank you sir for the excellent and honest review as this is the exact information that I was digging for to make a good purchasing decision for my next adventure. Peace out✌. Mediocre Dave

Another enjoyable video, thanks bike world! I've owned a 2019 Adventure Sports for just over a year now, and I absolutely love it. It's the DCT version, which admittedly I walked away from inside the dealership a few times, but curiosity kept bringing me back for a look. After a test ride (which felt completely alien to me) I bought it, I use it as a daily rider and mile muncher. I soon got used to the DCT, mainly using the tiptronic manual buttons which are a joy as I felt the upshift in normal Drive mode was too quick, labouring the engine. In tiptronic mode it has an auto-blipper going down too, sounds great with the Scorpion exhaus, quite addictive. It's so easy to ride as well (I'm 6'5" and there's plenty of protection on it for me, a nice high bike too), and as you say with the new one, I find this version well-balanced too.

I’ve been looking at this bike for a while. I knew I wanted an adventure bike, but I mostly wanted something that was really comfortable on road that could handle some off roading stuff to get me to cool campsites and so on. I’m not able or interested in developing the skill set needed to thrash a big GS or 1290 and I’m not looking to run the Dakar. I’m also not looking to spend upwards of $30K USD to get all the farkles and then have the increased maintenance costs of a BMW, KTM, or Triumph here in the states. So to get something with electronic suspension, heated grips, cruise control, DCT, Apple CarPlay, and Honda approachability and dependability for less than $19K is just a phenomenal value in my mind. Can’t wait to get one next spring.

9:00 Funny what you mention here, this is exactly why I got the africa twin. 10:35 I kind of disagree with you there. I really enjoyed the niche that the 'old' non-adventure sports bike resided in. Between the extremely off-road focused twin cylinders like the T7 and Tuareg, yet being much more capable offroad than its fatter siblings and cousins. It fits very well with the 'jack of all trades' character. Also, another advantage of not being completely bonkers, is a low compression ratio and thus high reliability!
