We took on Honda's 2020 Fireblade SP as a long termer for 2020, to get a proper idea on what it would be like to live with this year's Ultimate Sports Bike. So, six months and thousands of miles down the line, how did it fare?

got to review one last weekend and was blown away, the motor is a true Jekyll and Hyde, I found it very easy 1000 to 4000 rpm on the street, and then just a savage 6k and above. Great review man.

Super eloquent review and great insight into what you’re letting yourself into if you pull the trigger on this. Many thanks. If I may ask, what would be your recommendation for the best road-use bike in this category? Thanks again. G.

I've seen lots of positives reviews of the S 1000 RR and GSX-R1000 for road use as far as superbikes go. Also the previous gen Fireblade was apparently very accommodating for that purpose.

Great ‘rider’ review, all bikes have little idiosyncrasies which you don’t notice when you’re starry eyed on a test ride or during the first weeks of new bike love! Although many of us ride track we also ride road so you have to consider all the good and bad, tall gearing is something I am now used to and actually like ! But the Honda’s gearing is wayyyyy tallll ! Well done and good job for not crashing it 👍😂😂😂

Finally got round to riding one of these and oh my god it was insane. I've heard the 2022 model has gone from 40 to 43 teeth on the rear sprocket. How will this effect the gearing?? Also they've done work to the mid range apparently.

Did you take the bike in as the 2020 cbr 1000rr had connecting rod recall? @vgk The cbr 1000rrr ecu was unlocked but when you do so it looses wheelie control ,traction control ect ect =really screws ecu up

Loads of people slagged off the 1st fireblade and i was lucky enough to have one in early 1993 and look at that it changed the way we looked at sports bikes. Then again i went to the green side in 1998 with the zx9r and i still have that bike today 🤣👍

I know everyone says zx10r is this that not that good but Iam totally opposite I think the 2020zx10r is the best bike you can get I love the power it's fast and I ride fast but I really like the rrr and think I want one just want to know if you think it's better than my 2020 zx10r

Good review, but would have been even better if not chosen to sit on the fence regarding the decision to buy new or go used. £24k for a bike is out of reach for the vast majority of us and by openly admitting the same for himself, he would have changed what is a good review of the bike into a honest and fair review of what owning the bike would be like.

The SP Model is even better for street use than the base model. Because of the semi-active Ohlins suspension which can be softened or harden just by the click of the button. The main issue of the bike on the street is the lack of torque and power in lower RPMs. It all be fixed with the ECU flash.
@tumdeax
@tumdeax 3 жыл бұрын
@@Fearless154 It's not what I meant, the CBR1000RR has two engines, the 81mm bore and the older 76mm bore. The 76 has better low end torque and hence it is more rideable on the street. the 81 is Peaky in torque delivery.
@Fearless154
@Fearless154 3 жыл бұрын
@@tumdeax You mean the old model 2017-2019 the new rr-r model replaces it. You can still find leftovers but the rr-r is the next-gen of cbr1000 not a special model of it.

@@tumdeax The question is are those leftover models or they're keeping the production in the US. In Europe, it's completely gone from the showrooms. I know In the US they'll keep on selling discontinued bikes until they'll run out of stock. Correct me if I wrong but I pretty sure In the US they can call it the 2021 model as long as it wasn't registered and was still in the crate.

Some spot on points there, but overall the bike is pants. Those m4 calipers are the worst. Abs is pointless as its also dual abs. Too many fiddly electronics. Glad I never got one and threw it back after less than a week into a month trial.

It’s a 1000cc, 200hp track machine for the road, OF COURSE ITS NOT GOING TO COMFY😂 Also putting it down because it’s not great at “going to the shops” wtf is wrong with you? If you can afford a 24k superbike im sure you’ll have a bike you can pop to the shops on. And complaining it’s doesn’t have cruise control or heated grips? It’s a fricken track weapon for god sake man! If Honda wanted to make the ultimate road bike and it didn’t put grips or cruise on then fair enough... BUT THEY MADE A ROAD LEGAL RACE BIKE!!!!

Honda has always had higher pegs- that helps take the weight off the wrists, BMW is the only bike I know that comes with heated grips, but the winglets keep the wind off the hands nicely.... The Suzuki is the best street riding bike out there hands down! The front forks- are a good choice as the showa bff forks are a disappointing design using too narrow a bushing! The maintenance cost is a real issue, be prepared to spend 100$ for an oil change every 2000miles..... And expect to change tires every 2000 miles also- The ABS is a good place to start for cutting the weight down! And the rubber lines can be upgraded to steel braid when removing the abs pump... The honda ecu is difficult to flash at the moment so expect the cost of mapping to be extra for a few years.
