We had a 2012 Pilot EX-L (still have it, just isn’t our main car) and once we reached around 120k and our Toyota RAV4 lease was up, we began to look for a car. It ended up that we went for a 2019 Highlander SE. HUGE mistake. The next week, we went to the beach, which was around a 7-hour road trip from our home. That is where the regret really began. About three hours in, the seats started to show their true colors. They felt oddly hard, and I know that you might say that any road trip can be uncomfortable, but that isn’t the case. We drove our Pilot there MULTIPLE times with no issues whatsoever. The rest of the trip was okay, but nothing spectacular. We didn’t love the car then, but it was okay. However, after a few months, we formed the opinion that we really didn’t like the car. The visibility was poor in that the side mirrors were huge and the seats were low to the point that we struggled with seeing over the dashboard. Plus, the seats still weren’t feeling a bit better. So, after about a year of ownership, we decided that it was time to move on. We had thought about what we wanted before this time, so we kind of knew exactly what we wanted by that time. In conclusion, based on our experience with our 2012 Pilot, we bought a 2020 Black Edition and it is leaps and bounds ahead of the Toyota in every way imaginable!! Highly recommend!!

@mccali25195 жыл бұрын
so nissan and toyota both have v8 suv and trucks but not honda why?
@caglioso5 жыл бұрын
mccali because they don’t make a V8 for anything, and that includes Acura. Even their near-supercar NSX uses a twin turbo V6 hybrid system. Toyota/Lexus and Nissan/Infiniti are using the same V8 designs they’ve been using for ages across multiple platforms, so it’s easy and cheap for them to keep doing it. But Honda never developed one and they certainly aren’t going to start now since they have no real incentive to do so. Even their largest SUV’s/trucks have plenty of power with their 6 cyl engines, and the additional power from a V8 would come at the expense of fuel economy so yea, no way Honda’s gonna spend a bunch of coin to develop a V8. It would be an antiquated design by the time they actually implemented it.
@mccali25195 жыл бұрын
@@caglioso oh ok thanks i just always wondered why honda does not have any v8 kinda strange where they have the armada titan tundra land cruiser etc and infiniti

The shape still sucks. The shape was what made the pilot an SUV. Now, they have made it a stupid version of the odyessey. Yes, it does have safety features and navigation, LED, which is all great. There is a reason why the 2003-2009 shape still does not look outdated for the 4×4. Its supposed to be big, the point of a sport utility vehicle. Honda Pilots used to be really good.
@kevincrush8595 жыл бұрын
I agree. The styling leaves me cold. The front looks almost identical to it's little brother(CRV) and the rear looks waaaay too much like a mini-van for my liking....just too soft-looking for an SUV. I have an '05 Pilot and I prefer the first two generations to the current one in regards to styling. I live near the Jersey Shore and I've seen very few of the current ones around here but I often see the first two generations on the road.

Honda should offer the 10 speed transmission in the Pilot. It's now standard on all 2020 Odysseys and increased the tow rating over the 9 speed still used in the Pilot and Ridgeline.

I’m a Honda guy but I will never buy a V6 Honda until they convert from a timing belt to a chain driven one. A $1000 timing belt maintenance allowance every 60,000 miles makes zero sense to me when the Toyota Highland has a chain driven system.
@brenttitus21345 жыл бұрын
Honda engines are damn near bullet proof and reliable. That is really nothing in the grand scheme of thing owning the vehicle long term.
@refineme5 жыл бұрын
My 2007 Accord V6 sedan is now at 240,000 miles with no timing belt change!!!!! You’ll be fine. Single owner and I’ve done all my own maintenance. Only parts not original off factory floor are, 1 starter, right rear caliper, and brake rotors and pads.
@kevincrush8595 жыл бұрын
Every 60,000 miles? Honda calls for TB replacement every 105,000 miles on my '05 Pilot and I know from experience you can extend the factory belt and related components quite a ways from that conservative figure. I replaced mine at 129,000 miles and everything was still in great shape. I'm a DIYer and it only set me back a little over $200 for the Aisin kit.
