Thank you for this well done review. I recently sold my old RX 300 which gave me great service over the years with literally no problems. I found a Lexus Certified Pre-Owned 2020 RX 450h at a local dealership and immediately purchased it. You are correct in your assessment in that it is very luxurious and extremely easy to drive. On long journeys I get out of the car feeling relaxed and refreshed, and not the least bit beat up. I am consistently getting 33-34 mpg around town and 27-28 mpg for highway driving! I am thrilled with this car and very happy that I bought it. By the way, I am a very critical customer as I am an A.S.E. Certified Master Technician by trade. I dare to say I know cars and will tell you that you can't beat Lexus quality!

How do you drive to get 30+ MPG around town? Do you use AC at all? I'm always stuck at 25mpg.
@happychildhood591 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I use the AC quite a bit in the Summer months. I have changed my driving style in that I am very cognizant of when the light illuminates on the dash telling me I'm in electric mode. When driving in electric mode I accelerate lightly to keep it in electric mode as long as possible. I just got back from a trip to Newport RI from Stamford CT and got 29 MPG on mid-grade fuel. I did both highway driving (75 MPH average) and lots of around town driving at lower speeds using the A/C all the time. I was very satisfied with that mileage especially in light of the fact that I was heavily laden with passengers and luggage. I think to key to good mileage is to use the electric mode as long as you can before accelerating hard after which the gas engine kicks in. Additionally, my 2021 was the last year of the V-6. I understand that they are now all turbo four cylinder engines. @@ctgaming168

I've literally just bought one. Hasn't come yet but hope I'm happy. Mine is black with cream interior. I needed the 7 seats for grand babies and the big boot space for my disabled mothers electric chair. I already had a hybrid so love them. Thanks so much for the review. Really appreciate it.

One comment if I may? It is NOT a cvt, it’s and e-cvt which is very different in execution and makes for an extraordinary strong and efficient way if ensuring peak torque on demand. The mist comfortable and refined car on the planet.

I am somewhat amazed by some of the test comments.. Changing between Eco/ drive/ sport/ sport+ settings gives a noticable change/ improvement in throttle response (espec if compared S+ to Eco setting in which it has such sloooow throttle response), it makes the suspension firmer, makes the car a bit more direct steering and leaning noticably less in corners.. I cannot understand that you state there is hardly a difference.. I am not a fan of the (e)-ecvt gearbox, but the paddles are definately usable for engine breaking on downhill twisty roads
@ln5747 Жыл бұрын
You should use your brakes to brake, not the engine.
@renesmeenk4108 Жыл бұрын
@@ln5747 Really?? You must be involved in downhill racing then, as that would be the only time that one would use the brakes all the time.. Under normal driving circumstances using your brakes downhill on twisty roads on long steep downhill drives will be the best way to burn up your brakes. This can often be seen in alpine countries during summer vacation time when unexperienced tourists go downhill using their brakes all the time.. after some time their brakes starting to smell badly and if continued, will start to make smoke. On a longer downhill twisty road, very somewhat experienced driver will use engine braking as much as possible and will use the brakes only when engine braking will not be enough. Only thing with the E-cvt gearbox is, that it has less engine breaking capability as compared to a regular manual gearbox

@@renesmeenk4108 nonsense. Unless it's a very extreme downhill brakes should be used.
@renesmeenk4108 Жыл бұрын
@@ln5747 As you must clearly be a much more experienced driver than I (with over 40Y driving experience, having driven quite a few mountain stages during mountain rallyes and holding a racing license for many years) am, please continue your driving style as you are used to 👍
@ln5747 Жыл бұрын
@@renesmeenk4108 credentialist nonsense 😴 Don't worry I shall continue to do as I say. Thinking rallying has any relevance to driving under normal conditions downhill is daft. Using your engine to break on anything but extreme downhill is incorrect nonsense. If your brakes have a chance of failing of course use the engine, this is almost never the case. Keep putting the stress on your engine and I'll keep putting the stress on my brakes.

Great video. Paddle shifters can be used for engine braking in snow/ice conditions (i've used them to great effect in the ice). How come so many reviewers haven't got a clue how to drive in adverse conditions??

Had to come back on this one! The paddles are primarily for two reasons - the first being in preparation for for some 'harder' acceleration when you get ready to 'floor it'(!) in traffic, but much more useful (🙂) is their use for engine braking in the snow when using the brakes going downhill approaching the T-junction when normal brake application just feels that bit too risky! 😁👍🙏

This presenter started with a wrong opening, RX 350 including its top of the line 450h hybrid is not only not a large-size category crossover, but is the smaller-size among its mid-size auto-category. And for good, being larger than compact SUVs, but shorter than the 3-d row mid-size SUVs/crossovers in U.S. market. Exactly because of its dimensions two-row 5-seats size it’s the most selling luxury crossovers in this huge American car market. This presenter also made other misrepresentations but he feels funny confident that he knows what he is talking about 😃😇 Actually the grill that tries to compete with its BMW competition and others is a design overblown feature. Lexus did not need to cather to younger public that naturally is not the one that made RX the best selling luxury SUV. A lot of the traditional natural enthusiasts for RX throughout the years are seniors and they prefer the previous conservative, proportional to the body shape grill, indeed. And the new up screen is also not as wise in comparison with the previous commanded in more safely manner using the jock stick without interfering so much with the safe driving which is a problem with the far away touch screen. It’s funny that the young presenter’s opinion is in conflict what mature senior drivers like. It’s 308 hp, not what he misrepresented as well. It’s not only CVT box according the video presenter, but advanced eCVT in reality. It’s a hybrid synergy drive, which is different than a lot of other hybrids. He is wrong also with the notion that the high voltage battery location reduces the trunk cargo volume. Since 450h battery location is under the rear seats, the trunk cargo volume of 40 cubic ft is a record large among the competition & almost doubles with rear sits folded.
