3 Years after this strong and valuable and rarest review on Lexus that Thomas had ever made, things are way clear so far: Lexus is the most exciting car and this SUV RX450H is a true compromise aside Mercedes GLC/Audi Q7/BMWX6/WV Touareg/Porsche Cayenne.

Thomas summed it up perfectly ( 1:37 to 1:56 ) about the look of new RX 450. Only noticed now how the frontal area added into the illusion the vehicle having quite a long front overhang at side-on profile when in reality it's just a trick.. I honestly like the overall design theme of the exterior. Lexus is up there with the best when it comes to cabin design presentation/features.

There is a voice control feature in the car that works quite well (for me) when I want set navigation destinations whilst driving. Mileage range for trips ranges between 27-34 This car also has larger battery pack than other Toyota products as it allows EV mode up to 35 MPH while others only allow 25 MPH. non-F- Sport car does drive better. The hybrid has grown on me and I am more than ever happy with the purchase after 3 years.
@azhariqbal12128 жыл бұрын
Thomas I was nearly going to pull my hair when I was listening when you where nagging about the navigation and mouse. I think you should have done your homework first, this infotainment is very good because I drive the RX450h Fsport. It was difficult at first but when you go to the settings and change the resistance according to your liking it makes life so easy. The screen can go in full size if you want to or you can split the screen in two different sections which is cool. You did not even try the different drive mode of this car which where the highlight of this F sport version. Which gives you better handling better engine sound better steering feel and better acceleration. If you where finding difficult to put the address why did you not try the voice control system. You can even connect your iPhone and use siri on the go. But I still like your review because at the end you like the car Lol.

thanks for your feedback. Still I keep my view with the controls being harder than using touchscreen or a classic MMI know. Of course some1 else might think differently about it, its just how I experienced it

So you say it is difficult at the beginning then you can get use to it...why should ANYTHING in an expensive luxury car be like this. I've seen a test saying a very funny OP about the system: it is like the smell of shit, you can get use to it but it still remains shit.

Svein-Harald Ribland Lexus are by no means the best dynamic cars. But reliability. Check out any reliability survey (JD Power, etc), or any customer survey - Lexus/Toyota have been in the top 3 for the past 10yrs+. Or you could simply watch reviews on here and listen to the people who test them.

Thanks for your video again! The exterior is quite aggressive, I'm okay with its new design. I may buy the Lexus due to its reliability and dependable. But for my brother who love and owned Mercedes, he purchased the Mercedes GL class instead. My wife has the older RX 330, over 11 yrs old now, it has been reliable and cost of maintenance is inexpensive. Any oil change express can change the oil for the RX. To me, German engineering like Porsche CayenneS I owned, it's considered the best driving SUV. BUT it's expensive when it comes to maintenance and hopefully nothing goes wrong. The reason I drive a Japanese car for my daily commute due to its reliability and dependability. I leave my German stable for my weekend use or special occasions. I hope German auto manufacturers would have better reliability on their vehicles. You are right! The German suspensions are still in the lead. I was driving my cayenneS 100mph the other day. So stable and secure feel ! More stable than my 707hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

By the way, to address your concern about using the front camera if you are parking towards the front, you can program the RX to automatically display both the front and "overhead" views when the car drops below a certain speed (I think 5 mph). I have setup mine to do this, and it works great. To do it, there is an icon on the camera screen in the lower left corner (I think).

I leased this car recently and was curious about what Thomas would say. I think his review was quite fair. I am in California and the problem with the destination entry is resolved by using destination assist. Press a button and someone talks to you, tell them your destination they look it up and send it to the car. You check then press go. So much simpler. Of course there is a small charge for this service after the initial free trial. One thing I noticed just yesterday driving on the freeway was the helpful lane assistance that keeps the car in between the lines on the road when in cruise control. Not Tesla by any means but still impressive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously I liked the styling. I love the car. Thanks Thomas!

As always, you ask us for an opinion about the car's exterior shape? For us car enthusiasts, good that Lexus are prepared to be different, but the shape is not my favourite! (Though I like every car, I'm a car enthusiast). At 46:37 you remark on the display - good stuff. The Lexus website says it's a 12.3 inch screen - that's exactly the same size as an "Audi Virtual Cockpit/VW Active Info Display"...! Strange. Keep up the good work.

Firstly great review. I agree that a reviewer should test things out such as typing into the Sat Nav while driving and not using it ten times, but I also feel that many of us will take time to get use to something. It's natural for us to adapt and get use to things, especially when it's complicated. For example a new mobile phone or even something like Microsoft Word etc... Most people own a car for years and years.

Finally a design breakaway from the oh so boring Germans and Koreans. Aerodynamic coefficient is .33 which is on par with its rivals. Lexus as a brand is becoming the new Mercedes Benz - by pursuing perfection in terms of build quality and reliability rather than pursuing cost cutting. It shows in the dismal ranking of MB in all reliability indexes - shame on MB for deceiving buyers with a mere illusion of quality since the 90's.

Thanks Thomas! I like the front and rear design, but the side profile not so much. I don't like the floating roofline, and as others have mentioned the front overhang is too big. I like the Lexus NX more, that seems a more balanced design to me. The interior is fine though, as long as it's not in that horrible red. I always associate this color with pimps! :-) The huge screen is something I like, but that strange mouse-like control ruins it. As for the driving, I guess the consumption is acceptable for such a big car. But you're stuck with a CVT again, and the electric drive is only of very limited use. It would make more sense to create this as a plug in hybrid, so you can drive in electric mode a lot more and enjoy the silence. Like Volvo did with the XC90..

If I had to choose between this and the Touareg GTE, from what I have seen I personally would probably go towards the GTE. Not a fan of those red leather seats. It's like they just skinned a cow and stuck it right in still bloody. But the RX 450h F-Sport is a nice competitor though.
