If you're going to get a new MX5, make sure you get the 2019 with 2.0L engine. They raised the horsepower significantly over last years model. You either love the car, or you hate it. I suspect that those who hate the car have never driven one. Yes, they are small and low to the ground...kind of like a big go-cart. Go-carts aren't fast, but they sure do put a smile on your face. Weather permitting...always drive with the top down...because Miata ;)

Andrea Loi had the 1.5 icon special ND for three years still love it . The kiddie cars are hilarious at lights as they think it’s a requirement to prove their car is quicker . We all know that but I can guarantee they don’t have as much fun I’ve driven plenty of quick cars including lambos and and ferrari both great cars but no fun at legal speeds . The MX is even fun at 30 around mini roundabouts.

There isn't a glove box because the centre storage box is the glove box. Is there no room for a jumper behind the seats? If you fold the seats forward, you will find extra storage bins. I have found only one KZbin review that has notice this.

What you don't know, if you don't know these cars, is if they are used all year round they rust to death just like the Mk1, 2 and 3 models... (unless you get it professionally treated). None of the reviews mention this. There are several centres around the UK that specialise on Mx5 repairs, welding, and rust proofing... Make sure if you get an Mx5 thats more than a few years old that you don't assume it's ok underneath and in the wheel arches. Plenty of stories and you tube video of these cars rusting badly and failing their Mot's after 5 or 6 years... Watch out.

I nearly bought a new Mx-5 because I had a Miata a few years back. I enjoyed the ride, but when I drove the Fiat 124 Spider, it was heads above in ride and styling. After 20,000 miles, I'm still very happy I made the switch!

I currently own a 18 plate mx5 2.0 sel nav. Great car but I dont trust it in the wet, had some scary moments lol. In the summer with the roof down, its wonderful, but when the lease runs out this aug I wont be renewing. A few factors, one being the Mazda customer service isnt as customer focused as bmw which is what I have always bought. I'll be going back to bmw and lease a bmw m240i, but now atleast as a petrol head I can tick the mx5 off the bucket list.

Still a great car, and this year's is a lot better looking than the previous two versions. But it cannot beat the lovely, rounded, feminine lines of the Mark 1 however.

The hardtop is a bit stiffer, and about 5% slower 0-60 due to it being about 5% heavier.

8 grand will get you a nice 2 litre NC with money left over for turbo from BBR that will take it up to 300hp. The car weighs 1000 kilos. I got a nice NC I just can't afford to tune it

In the USA CarPlay is a $500 dealer installed option. Instead, I use the wireless Bluetooth connection between my iPhone and the car and get excellent results.

Every review whinges about tiny boot and no cabin storage. OK it's not a SUV but we use ours for cross Europe trips carrying all personal kit for two plus stand up inside 4 person tent + awning, beds, table, high back chairs, sleeping bags and all the kit for comfortable camping. In the cabin the large centre storage is more useful than any normal "glove box' and the two quite large compartments behind the seats have been ignored. They take DSLR camera plus some lenses as well as tyre pump, some tools, documents and other bits. if you really get desperate, once the roof is down there is a massive space under the cover. enough for two large day sacks and coats. They must just be taken out if the roof is lifted and put behind the seats afterwards which takes a couple of minutes. It's not a family shed on wheels but for two people everything is possible.
