Been looking forward to your ND3 review, and it's even greater than I hoped for! The video and audio enhancements you've been incorporating make an already-good thing that much better. It's fun to see you ripping around in a car that's a near doppelgänger of mine ('23 RF Grand Touring manual in the "controversial" Zircon Sand). About the specs: For me, the manual GT was a better deal than the Club--it shares the most important mechanical performance bits (front shock tower brace, limited-slip diff, and Bilstein shocks) and adds some convenience features for several thousands less. I test drove a soft-top Club, which was outstanding, but I didn't find the GT RF any less thrilling behind the wheel. And the Recaros didn't feel as comfortable to me as the stock seats (no adjustable lumbar on either, my main "missing feature" complaint about the MX-5), I preferred the look of the GT's alloys to the Club's black BBS wheels, and I don't plan to track/autocross the car, so the Brembo brakes weren't a must-have. Re your defense of the car's power: You're right, it's far from slow in the real world, even though its on-paper numbers look tame in '24. With the short gearing and high redline, you can wind it out so often in regular driving that you feel like you're getting away with something without egregiously breaking speed limits (although you definitely can do that too). The pull to redline in second gear is especially engaging, perfect for freeway entrance ramps or coming out of tight corners. Also, no matter how I drive it, it almost always gets way better than the EPA mileage rating. I've seen as much as 40 mpg on longer, mostly highway trips, and always get low 30s in regular around-town and mixed driving. Great video, a legendary car--thanks, Alanis!

Yeah, power is pretty good for the light car this is. And nobody buys a miata to win straight line races, it just isn't that sort of car. As for the powertrain; personally, i miss some low down grunt, that's typical of higher displacement or turbo engines. To me, below ~3,5k, the car feels almost gutless. Certanly needs to be in the right gear to go fast. But that's usually par for the course for a highstrung NA engine. As for fuel economy; the most i got was ~48MPG on B roads with the top down, no less. Amazing fuel efficiency, considering this car isn't designed with fuel efficiency in mind (at least not as a first priority).

ND Miatas are so good. Criminally good, every enthusiast needs to own a Miata at some point. I don't even think it's that bad of a price at 40k , compared to what is out there, what other sports cars are that light, come with that fun of an engine, RWD and in a manual. "It's more fun to drive a slower car fast than a faster car slow" truer words were never spoken. The Miata has never been about raw speed. It's a twisty back road car and the enjoyment comes from taking corners at or near near the car's limit without breaking 10 different laws. I picked up my ND3 GT manual 3 weeks ago and it's even better than I hoped it would be. I previously owned an original ND and this car is definitely a noticeable step up in performance and refinement. It's such a joy to drive that I make excuses to go for an open top drive anytime it's a nice day out. The ND3 isn't quite perfect, though, no vehicle is. I was hoping Mazda would add some lumbar support and better bolstering to the GT seats, but they are still the same unsupportive seats from 2016. I guess it's their way of pushing enthusiasts into the more expensive Club w/BBR package to get the Recaros, but that configuration is overpriced in my opinion and I wanted the extra features of the GT anyway. It should also come with 215 width performance tires from the factory, not 205 all-seasons. In any case, my ND3 GT soft top is an amazing sports car that was well worth the $35k I spent on it. I expect to get decades of driving enjoyment out of this car and possibly modify it to make it even more capable in the future.

I am trying to understand if anyone has experience with long-distance driving in the Mazda Miata. How does it perform on long drives? Is it comfortable? Can you recline the seat, stretch while sitting in the car, and grab a drink or a burger without having to get out? Also how does the soft top suit colder climates, where temperatures touch close to zero or sub zero?

It's a small car, so you'd have to do all that in a very small car! If you want something roomier, go for a hot hatch

This cost 48k EUR in spain. The prices in this video are not really representative of non US locations, or even irl rn.

Yeah I’m going to start specifying U.S. dollars in future videos - sometimes your audience grows very global without you knowing, and you can’t go back and edit the video afterward

there's a slight jostle to the camera when you're onscreen. Is someone recording you, or are you adding that during your editing?
@AlanisKing5 ай бұрын
The jostle while driving was a total accident - the camera wasn’t fully secured! We’ve never had that before. For stand-up portions, my husband holds the camera and films. It adds a slight bit of visual dimension (and is much faster) compared to a tripod

@@AlanisKing I see, yes I meant in the stand-up portions. the movement during driving is totally understandable, and maybe even desired. sort of puts you in the seat, you know?

Had a 2016 ND1 Club. Dollar for dollar, it doesn't get any better than the Miata.

I love my 2020 RF Club but if I could get a 2nd Miata it would be an NC that I would mod the heck out of. I agree, modded NCs are siiiick

My Miata-driving bud is over 6' and he has zero complaints about the size. He's got the RF version, too.

Miata drivers will rarely complain about the size of a Miata 😉

Man, i really love my ND2. Such a fun car. And with leasurly driving, it's not uncommon for me to hit high 40s in terms of MPGs, which is extremly frugal for the sorts car this is. Unfortunally, i see that ND3 in europe appears to only be shipping in the 1.5 G132 engine, which is really sad (although i hear some 2.0s happend to sneak by). Must be something to do with fleet co2 emissions and miata being a small car, it just doesn't fit the bill.
