2020 Mercedes-Benz SL 450 Roadster - Build & Price Review: Features, Specs, Interior, Colors

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz SL is a two-seat convertible with a power-folding hardtop and is offered in two models. The entry-level model SL 450 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 (362 horsepower, 369 pound-feet) and sends ability to the rear wheels and tires via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The SL 550 ups the horsepower using a turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 (449 hp, 516 lb-ft).
Despite its apparently traditional nature, the SL is replete with impressive capabilities. Take its roof, for instance. Wind noise and buffeting are minimal with the power-folding roof maintained, and if raised the roof seals out sound like a conventional coupe does. However, it's also available with an electronically dimmable overhead glass panel for if you wish to split the gap between upper and top-up driving. Its optional active-bolster chairs are gimmicky, but the Airscarf system which emits warm air from underneath the headrests is priceless.
The SL spans a variety of price points, but I think that the SL 450 strikes an ideal balance of cost, performance and prestige. It's plenty fast, as buyers in this section require, but it costs considerably less than any AMG version and has better ride quality.

I have always liked the SL Mercedes and I even think the SL 450 with the smaller engine is the way to go.
