Great video. I'm about to do this job on my 2018 eclipse cross, but only replace the pads. Rotors are still in good condition.

I'm amazed how detail you are. Thanks for showing how to remove that rotor. I tried to do it on my car but I didn't hit it hard enough.

They wanted $465 in labor just to change my front pads (and rotors) they refuse to turn them. I’ve changed brakes many time but watching you reassured me there was nothing strange. I will tell everyone about this station. This saved me $365 and bought me a sweet new floor jack. Thanks man; you’re the best!!!

Dang, that's a lot of labour. Typically it is roughly 2 hours per axle for a brake job for rotors and pads and servicing. I'm glad you were able able do it! 👍 Thanks for your feedback that means a lot I really appreciate it. Thanks for the support.🙏

Great camera work Moose ! Easy to follow. Maybe you didn't catch it but the long tang on the piston side front pad is mounted upwards in the caliper. You can see it on your film as you took out the old pad. Amazing that the pad was eaten up at only 44k's ! I would be suspecting a balance issue where the rear brakes are not engaging. You might want to reach out to customer and see. it would be obvious with a quick look at the rear pads- they should have similar wear. If so its a warranty issue but Mits has a great warranty and a 2020 is still covered. Peace

Thanks. I see what you mean the one for the squealers/wear indicator I usually install those at the bottom (pointing downwards) inboard side of the calipers on pretty much all cars and don't have any problems doing that. I usually have issues if I install them the other way around and doesn't work most/all of the time. I don't think it matters as long as there are no clearance or obstruction issues you should be fine. Not sure why it was installed upwards on this one. I don't think the customer has this vehicle anymore and I believe the rear pads were getting close to being worn out as well if I am not mistaken. The customer purchased this vehicle used at around 20 k and I think the vehicle sat for a very long time in the used car lot. It's a Quebec car as well if that matters. Quebec vehicles are really neglected and not taken care of for the most part from what I have experienced. This vehicle is maybe an exception because this one was low mileage and the condition was pretty decent. It could have been a lot of stop and go driving wearing out the pads I don't know. Thanks for the information.

Thanks man I was able to do my own brakes on this same Mitsubishi model! I accidently knocked a wheel stud out trying to hit the old discs off haha! But i was able to tap it back from the rear by temporarily bending the dust cover alittle. Anyway thanks for the tips

I need to replace a broken stud/lug. Once the brakes are removed, is there access between back of hub and dust shield to replace without having to remove the wheel hub?
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 6 ай бұрын
I'm not too sure about this vehicle as I have only worked on it a few times, but you may be able to get the stud(s) out without removing anything except for the brake caliper and the rotor. On most vehicles today, you should be able to remove them without too much trouble/work just the brake caliper and rotor needs to be removed. You can follow my video here. This one was on a 2016 Toyota Sienna. I believe it should be similar procedures to this one. Just make sure you have the correct wheel stud length and size thread pitch, etc. 2016 Toyota Sienna 3.5 V6 - Front Wheel Studs Replacement kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqqVfmOvod2Kldk

Great attention to detail. Ive done plenty of pads but never a disc. Just took receipt of new front and back discs. Do you know if the rear calipers on these cars is a screw in caliper?

The rear calipers should push in if it's equipped with the electronic brake calipers.

@@moosemobileautorepair I mean that as per your tutorial video, you are showing us how the break pads replacement is done, now if I want to save money and buy the after market break pads for both front and back are there any vehicle models that fit the same break pad specification? Since I am asking if anyone knows that. I hope that is close 🙂

Question, did you have to put thr car into service mode? Cause my piston wont go in. I have a 2019 eclipse cross LE awd 1.5
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 2 ай бұрын
Not for the front. If the piston won't go in then most likely it is seized and you will need a new caliper.

@AbigailGrant-horrigan For the rears yes you will need to put it in service mode before pushing the pistons in. After you are done you will need to get out of service mode before pumping or touching the brake pedal.

I wasn't confident to do the rear myself because of the electric park brake. I ordered the pads and had my local mechanic fit them. Cost me $260 AU (pads included) when the dealership wanted $460 AU
