I owned a Daihatsu Charade hatchback with a 1 liter Diesel engine with 3 cyclinders and a manual 5 speed transmission! Bought it in California. It was inexpensive and minimalist to say the least! Put over 235,000 miles on it with absolutely no problems except for the trim which was flimsy! It never let me down! When they left the USA market it was a shame! No one has come close to them in the small inexpensive market!

We have had two Daihatsu Terios, now we have the only one Daihatsu Materia in Norway. Extremely good cars! Come back to Norway Daihatsu. We miss you so much.

Andre, I maybe wrong, but I think they would sell very well due to price especially. There cute, efficient, cheap to operate/maintain. Don't know about the reliability. Vehicles here in the USA are all going to 1.5L engines, some with turbo and some naturally aspirated. However, the price is like $36,000 and up. The new deal breaker for Americans will be the new Ford Maverick hybrid pickup, 2.5L engine, unibody (not frame), front wheel drive, 4 door, very well designed and function, 37 MPG and all for starting price of $20,000. America needs competition; the world auto manufacturers has so much to offer that were not privy too as consumers.

@@kgachapiso They left UK and Europe in 2011 after merging with Toyota. If they came back they would be much more popular. Other car companies like MG and Dacia have taken their place and are now successful and profitable.
