Okay, knocking a manufacturer for a manual opening fuel door and trunk is the reason that the average new car price in 2019 is over $37,000. For the entry level car the Versa is very well equipped. Please for the love of God quit criticizing car manufacturers for omitting content to make cars less expensive. Pickup trucks that cost as much as a starter home in most states is ludicrous.
@97I30T5 жыл бұрын
I agree. A cable operated fuel door and trunk release are absolutely not bad things. They're less likely to break and most drivers wouldn't even notice whether or not they're cable operated or electrically actuated.
@petercollingwood5224 жыл бұрын
Correct. Just stupid. Pity the manual transmision was not reviewed. Pity also that it uses a ridiculous stop start button along with all that electronic junk to open and close doors. What the hell is wrong with a key? And what is this bizzarre fetish with the type of plastic used on the dash? Do you go lay yourself out on the dash evey time you get into the thing? Nissan don't exactly have the best rep for reliability so I'm thinking that sticking a bunch of unneeded complexity in a supposed "bare bones entry level car" might not be the smartest move.

Tommy is infamous for elitist criticisms in his car reviews. Less than a leather-wrapped steering wheel by his definition is a "cheap plastic steering wheel", and he complains about the dumbest things, like exposed plastic clips that are only visible in the trunk and on parts of door panels that are only visible with the doors open. Sorry Tommy, I am going to be a bit hyperbolic here, but if you don't know the proper way to use a sun visor then you shouldn't be allowed to drive. No one puts the visor straight down, it is meant to go forward into/up against the drivers windshield which allows you to get a larger viewing angle while still shading your Eyes from the direct sunlight. The extension helps with the sun when it is coming in at a lower angle from the opposite side of the car, the visor extension glides far enough so it can reach into the center of the car behind the rear view mirror which is one of the most annoying places sun visors usually don't/can't block

I just bought the 2019 Sentra S 6spd manual... I was going to get the Versa But the build quality was very very noticeably worse than the sentra and the 5spd vs 6spd was quite a difference on the freeway and the price difference was under 2k so I went Sentra. I just needed a basic basic commuter to rack up freeway miles on and the Sentra was the best overall for price, economy, comfort (for me at almost 6’4”). The build quality on the Sentra is shockingly nice for the price too. I really wanted to get a Civic but the price difference was quite large and I looked at the Fit but shifting my knees were hitting the steering wheel. Also as a car I’m going to rack up miles on quickly I wanted naturally aspirated for simplicity and less parts to fix/replace over time and a turbo adds more complexity I didn’t care to deal with down the line. I would NEVER but a Nissan with a CVT (unless leased I guess) but their 6spd is very nice for its price. It is slow though getting up to speed but so was the equivalent Honda Fit, Corolla and Kia I drove but for a big city car or for me driving 75miles on the freeway each way daily to work and back it’s absolutely fine. Someone mentioned the Mitsubishi Mirage being the cheapest new car you get in the USA. Yeah but dear god it’s so poorly built and cost cutting is shocking that I wouldn’t of bought it new even if it was 8k... but damn the 2020 models look pretty nice for the Sentra and Versa. A noticeable improvement from the 2019’s. Btw I’m getting a combined 41mpg in the Sentra but that’s level freeway driving in no hurry with only about 5-10% city driving.

The review was excellent for lots of reasons, one of them being, I'm 6'3" tall and a half or about 6'4 ", so I can relate to you on a car needing to be spacious & comfortable for us tall people. Nissan did an excellent job improving the Versa sedan from what it was. For a basic entry level car, it looks great in SR trim with fog lights. So SL trim is no more? I have what I think is the only 2015 Versa with no power locks or windows and no alarm. But I love it 🥰

Hopefully they fixed the CVT issues by now I'm assuming
@billymc26815 жыл бұрын
My 2012 Juke had the CVT and after 100,000+ miles never had any issues. That being said, there were 2 drain and fills with Nissan spec fluid done at 40 and 80 thousand miles.
@ShockinglyBleh5 жыл бұрын
All just depends on the platform, generation, and power train. I've never heard anything terrible with the CVT's on the Jukes, I think when you start having anything higher that a 2.0 placement engine is when you start running into more problems.

Nice, but go back to a real auto. No CVTs. No adaptive cruise?
@michalp23624 жыл бұрын
Adaptive cruise is garbage If you live in a city or even your average suburbia. People keep cutting in front of you and the damn thing keeps slowing down. Garbage!

why do Canada versions get Foglights and U.S. dont? well, mostly, i've seen some SR's with em, and some without, what dictates which SR gets foglights? i don't seen anything on the Nissan's site about it being an option, or an anything. so ya it's confusing!

Nissan quality is gone. They're slowly becoming more and more known as an unreliable brand every day.
@billymc26815 жыл бұрын
It's well documented that QC took a back seat once Renault took over.

Indeed! all the decisions making for Nissan is the French not the Japanese, and we all know most French vehicles don't last over 50k 😂

Gerardo Linares is this why they’re new and used cars are cheap? You like Toyota cars?
@morbid15 жыл бұрын
@@billymc2681 That isn't true in all cases. I have a 2015 Altima that I have driven from Texas to Georgia many times with no issues at all. Over 90,000 miles. I do the required maintenance and it has been a champ and that includes no transmission issues.
@raymundoguzman71175 жыл бұрын
You are wrong, at least un México Is still a verte reliable car... Manual trasmission...cvt Is a warranty problem in almost all
@kirbycairo5 жыл бұрын
You failed to mention that the Nissan CVT is an industry joke. Nissan announced huge global layoffs last week and it is a desperate attempt to avoid total bankruptcy - and their terrible CVT is surely one of the main reasons for their fall.

I just bought a brand new 2020 base model versa (s) and I love mine. I had a 2015 Sentra and I actually prefer this car. It is very fast and I also feel safe while driving it

I want one of these with a manual trans. I've been driving a 89 for 22 years and a 00 neon sometimes for 13. This would be a luxury car.
@jeffmorse6455 жыл бұрын
That would probably be a fun little car with the five speed.

I may have to trade my car in for this! I love small cars and this is now the best looking and equipped in the segment. I am betting that Hyundai and Kia will now step up their safety features game with the Rio and Accent to keep up. I am also wondering if this will be the platform mate of the new Mitsubishi Mirage due in 2020?

I’m gonna be honest, the old versa was definitely and outcast it was like they weren’t claiming it, it wasn’t on any of the front pages of the website. In order to find it you had to go do way more than if you were looking for the Altima or maxima it was so hidden it was like they were embarrassed of something THEY made
