Idk why people are dissapointed about Dexter, the man had an illustrious decades-long career and there's absolutely no shame in placing 9th at the Mr. O when you're 51 years old.

Iaian really doesn’t do himself any favors with his posing. The front double and back double look awkward and he loses the width in his shoulders with the scrunched up look in the front lat spread and hands clasped most muscular. Really needs to work on his presentation.

-This video just goes to show how good the judging was this year. -Ian vs Hunter is a GREAT rivalry, they were tied on friday and if they compete together more often it will be a classic shape/aesthetics vs gnarliness/conditioning. -Yeah, you can make a case for Justin over Dex but in the end, Dex beat him out by just 3pts (93 vs 96)

Except that after the pre-juding, I put Big Rami 1st and Phil 2nd and Brandon Brandon 3rd. The finals switched Phil, Hadi and Brandon around ... but 6th to 10th, I was spot on. Thank you for the analysis, Tom Cheers!

Insane to see how much Dex declined since March. I never thought I will live to see the day when he seems odd in a second call-out. The man solidly defeated Ramy some 9 months ago and now needed the judges' help to keep a Rodriguez in bay...crazy. This was a solid second call-out but it once again showed what is the difference between the absolute elite and the next in line. Maybe Brandon is a joker because some aspects of him are not first call-out material but he more than makes up for it. This is similar to Akim's situation and he is basically one feat away from that level (and it should be back detail as you mentioned). I'm happy for Iain's redemption but in order for him getting similar placing next time with Roelly, Flex and maybe even Shawn, he really needs to analyze his posing. Seems like a smart guy, a coach himself yet his posing doesn't do him justice in many cases. Hope he'll hit the calves as well, because unless it's a nerve injury, this level is unacceptable and his great quads lose wow factor due to the toothpicks below the knee.
@Tomn8er
@Tomn8er 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah Dexter must've had issues prepping due to all the lockdowns. I can't explain it otherwise because he looked so much better in March, particularly in the AC finals. Your comment on Akim and Brandon kind of makes me want to do a 1v1 between those two, because I think Akim can hold his own in most poses vs the former Mr O, and possibly even upset him in a couple!

@michaelr.4878
@michaelr.4878 4 жыл бұрын
He does have that pec tear though. It isn't as noticeable as other chest tears we have seen throughout the years. But it really stands out in some shots. In others, he does a good job posing around it. It has probably been torn for far too long for a surgeon to repair it and keep it looking presentable. I know that Tony Freeman had his pec tear fixed many years after suffering the injury and it was still extremely noticeable after the repair. However, his was so bad that it had to be fixed if he wanted to compete. Labrada's is still workable.

@@michaelr.4878 Ye. But there is two points about that. First. It would be dangerous for him to train heavy in some movements, because that area is weakened. And Two, it is a minor tear, but anyway you can notice it clearly and affect some poses, for example, front lts spread.

Dexters back double is stellar. But, he is lagging on in the glutes and hams. Akim has almost no claves at all but he really impressed me. I thought he could of been top 4. In resume. Justin has good biceps and back, and by them alone placed him 10th, which can arguably be a 9th. Hunter is balanced and complete, much like his father only bigger and more suitable for the current era, could improve tho in the conditioning. Dex is a shadow of himself much like Phil Heath. Iain fails to manage some poses and severely lacks the calves and back, but he has proven that he can came conditioned and definitely has the freak factor. Akim in overall the best of the mix, great arms, good back and great lower body. The Orville Burke’s vibe makes him kinda eyes catching, plus the fact that he improved his conditioning, overall a solid aspirant for the first callout.

I know everyone is saying time and age caught up with dex but I’m not buying that. Dex has never been a mass monster but this is the 1st time he looked noticeably smaller. Maybe he was trying to come in smaller to present a tighter, more conditioned package. But he looked depleted and lacking his usual mass so something in his prep went wrong. I was rooting for him to be in top 3, but it was evident when he came out that was far from we have been accustomed to. He is a great champion tho, and I’m sad to see him go.

Not common at all, these placings was basically the least upsetting theyve been for a long time, imo. Not loving that blackish "Olympia" background/backdrop. It really washes out the black/darker skinnad competitors. Especially Brandon Curry really camoflaged well, which is the opposite of what is desirable.

Hunter's shoulders looked suspect from the back. And he was soft af. But boy does he have potential. Just don't let that waist go.

Agreed but keep in mind that's next to the 9 best bodybuilders in the world. Not bad for a 50 year old. Lol

Yeah Dexter wasn't great but Justin's midsection is just so offputting. These guys are supposed to look aesthetic at least to some degree. Like Akim looks great when he holds his midsection tight, Justin doesn't look great ever.

Why do the competitors insist on being so crowded together on stage? You would think they would want space to pose and stand out

Dexter was tiny. Didnt belong onstage in my opinion. This is mens open. He already was one of the smaller guys before... this year he got even smaller. He said he dieted for the first time... wrong move. He should have kept the same prep he had been doing for the last few years. Also i think that new electric shock machine he was using shrunk his muscles.

Akim has incredible size and density but i really don't like his shape in the upper body. lats appear out of nowhere and are very blocky.

Akim improvements in his legs are so good! Dexter came in smaller and looks like he's sick with a disease or something! Say that with all due respect!

In these photos the guys aren't even hitting their shots half the time. How are you gonna judge based on random photos.
