I don't think "Parasite" is actually the very first foreign best picture Oscar award as was announced. I recall "The Artist" (a French film) winning it in 2012. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

@@tommykevans3 It wasn't completely silent as it introduced sound in the latter part of that great movie. Besides, it DID win best picture that year vs. Parasite best picture this year. To me that means Parasite is the second, not the first, film to do so. I think the presenters screwed up the facts Sunday night.

Jerry hey jerry, I get what you mean but The Artsist was not a non-English speaking film. At they end they did speak English and it takes place in California and is except for two, casted with American actors. So yes the Film is French, but it is not IN French. And that is crucial. Parasite is indeed the very first film NOT in English to win the Best Picture award

Actually, nobody from the cast of Marriage Story got individual nominations at the Spirit Awards because the film won the Robert Altman award for the entire cast, and the Spirits have a rule that you can't be nominated for individual acting awards if you're part of the Robert Altman award winning cast (so no, Laura Dern did not lose the Spirit Award to Zhao Shuzhen)... also, Tarantino was ineligible for the WGA (he's always ineligible because he's not a member)... just a couple of things I noticed...

I’ve been following both filmmakers for a long time to know that they respect each other and QT has been my favorite director long enough to know that he’s self-centered and a loser sometimes. @@tommykevans3 idk who you're calling loser because just the fact that Tarantino (who've already won one too many awards for himself) always praises other director's works and always remain passionate about his works I don't think he's that full of himself - maybe to you he sounded like he talks too much about what his works represent, but i think it's more because of his overflowing passions, even then he's always proven how good the fruits of his mind are with his films. Adam wasn’t a big fan of TS4 but I enjoyed many parts from it. I agree with Jaime, it’s not as good as 1 and 3 in my opinion (surprised to see someone else has 2 on the bottom of their list as well). QT is my favorite writer/director but I just wish he wasn’t so up his own ass all the time 🤣
