After two toterhomes renegade and currently a hallmark and over a 100k plus miles, we blew our first front steer tire (less than three year old tire rig always stored inside) we just had descended mount Shasta area on I -5 ....70 plus mph with a tow vehicle... tire went to rim Volvo hardly pulled or twitched absolutely amazing.suspected cause road construction we had just passed. Hell of a boom some damage but easily repaired and I’m convinced the rig saved our life.... I’m keeping my uhaul l.o.l.

Doing more and more research other than cab space and storage the Super C has so many advantages especially regarding drivability, servicing, service intervals, payload, tow capacity and most important safety. It’s high on our list for sure. Thanks for another great video.

The Volvo rep suggested there's a 40% driveline loss in a rear-mounted engine & transmission layout. .. Comparatively stated was the approximate 10% driveline loss of a front-mounted engine & transmission layout. .. I'd luv to see chapter and verse (White Paper) on the subject supporting these values. .. The delta is huge.
@steeldavidson3 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly I would think a front mount D13 to Trans to drive line all the way back to axel would be 40% rather then Rear D13 in a Prevost to the drive axel in the Tag would be 10%. Don't follow that math, although I am not the one with the good book learn N Here LOL
@castloft86283 жыл бұрын
Like @michaelschneider, I too am curious about that 40% vs 10% loss. I’m not suggesting it’s not true, merely interested in learning. Can someone shed some light?

I think he has his numbers reversed. Common sense tells your going to loose more power on a longer drive train . Just as quite as a Lexus car , not sure i buy that .

I drove one of the first Volvo newer shape trucks way back in 1998 on a rock and roll tour and over the road trucking. Since I came from a fully loaded Peterbuilt truck it was like night and day, this was back when Volvo had their 12 speed fully synchro transmission which was awesome too. A lot of drivers never cared for them back then, so funny how they are everywhere now. That front setback axle is the key to the ride and short turning circles. I which they made one with a hydraulic lift for a motorcycle instead of the great big ramp and garage set up so you don’t loose 14 feet of your living space.

The mirror issue is absolutely correct, and my shakes so bad at times it’s nearly useless. I looked very hard at Renegade before I bought my 2017 Tiffin Allegro Bus. I was ready to pull the trigger, but the salesman never called me back! Good video.

Thanks Andrew for doing great,it is very interesting to practically know about the difference between Front-mounted engine and Rear-mounted engine. Many thanks for this Video, KEEP SHINING.

I still prefer a class A, I understand the better safety and easier serviceability of this Super C but I don't like the confined cockpit. The wide-open windshield of a class A offers the best panoramic view going down the road, I like having the engine in the back away from me, less noise. This test drive shows that the whole rig is solid, no road noise or creaking sounds, there is an RV for everybody out there, more options for potential buyers. Thanks Andrew for sharing your test drive.

Great video Andrew! I love the Volvo chassis and they seem quieter. Amazing that you got to ride along with Jeff (Wolfman Jack)...LOL :) I have seen him with Haulmark RV's and he really knows his Volvo's. Are there any "Luxury" RV resorts which allow Super C or Truck conversion RV's in the US or are they only Class A specific? Thanks again, stay safe and keep up the great content.

Yet another best family product, Volvo owns Prevost and now a Volvo class 8 chassis. Yes a great Volvo product (chassis) with ALL of the safety features! Jeff I do have to say is a straight PIMP. Anyone with hair, beard and wearing two glasses any give information like he did, total pro!
@hcrffi3 жыл бұрын
I drive an Volvo 54 seater Motorcoach and yes, Volvo engine with volvo trans is the best. Why do you think Prevost merged with Volvo? They wanted the engine for their buses. Also, with the engine/transmission brake, I only use the brakes right when I go on an complete stop. Now, as far as Motorhomes, Super C all the time over Class A. Biggest pro is engine placement. With an Super C or any Class C, mechanic don't have to come into the living area to work on the engine. Which is the biggest con on Class A, you will have mechanics with dirty greasy shoes, close, hands and tools going through the living area to work on the engine. Andrew, always enjoying your videos. Keep up the great job.

I agree. I will be buying a superC at some point. I want a twin screw on super single tires. 425’s 20 ply all the way around.
@MaximusMerideus2 жыл бұрын
@@jeremyharris6153 Jeremy, what does twin screw on super single tires mean and what are the advantages? Thanks for any info you can provide.
@jeremyharris61532 жыл бұрын
@@MaximusMerideus twin screw is sort of slang for both rear axles being live. A driveshaft from trans to the 1st rear axle then a short driveshaft to the second rear axle. So it is a two rear axle setup. Just to spread weight out. If a person wants a heavy trailer with toys. Some of that weight is put on the power unit. Super singles. Is just one tire as opposed to a dual wheel setup. SS are typically a wide tire. I think I mentioned a 425 20ply tire they are capable of a considerable amount of weight. But, also an expensive tire.

Andrew If you had an unlimited budget, what would you choose, a luxury class A or a luxury super C I think class A has a more luxurious living space while Super C is safer, drives like a SUV and can tow a lot more. What are your thoughts?

Thinks the companies need to Jazz up the rear of those coaches. A plan flat bsck isn't very nice to look at. They definitely have some advantages over other style coaches. For racing and hauling loads that's the way to go!

I prefer my pusher (Wanderlodge) with air ride suspension. Would love to see where he got that 40% vs 10% drive line loss information came from. The living space difference in a super C versus a diesel pusher is huge. A 38 foot super C will have less living space than a 30 foot pusher. The advantages of a super C are greater towing capacity and ease of engine access. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
@michaelbayliss17943 жыл бұрын
His math does add up . Maybe all that noise coming from sitting on top of a diesel engine affected his thinking. Go Bluebird .
@JonPoklop3 жыл бұрын
There is also the added protection of having the engine in front of you in a front end collision. The class 8 chassis is designed to protect the occupant and driver just like a car. It absorbs the impact and the engine drops beneath the cab.
@rightright65822 жыл бұрын
38 to 30 living space, that is way too much. Are u sure?

Volvo is simply the best hands down. There is no other truck in it's class that can compare until they copy Volvo.
@SomeTechGuy6663 жыл бұрын
This guy is on an anti rear engine coach rant. The engine in a rear engine coach puts out the same power as one in an HDT. Volvo engines are used in both Prevost and MCI coaches.
