Looking splendid Really is a great looking bike 👍gearbox on my euro 4 is also super smooth and no false neutrals. Never had a problem finding neutral either. Up to 500 miles now and getting better and bettering with each run. Tips re gas tank cap and over filling great advice. Filled mine now with super unleaded 0 ethanol. Service again at 600. Ride safe mate

@@ridewithwarro Yeah appreciate if you would mate. I will pull the ngk at the 600 service and compare burn with the old Bosch. I have not had any surging, stalling or hesitation with the 500 or my interceptor so far. My previous 2014 continental gt 535 was terrible for these problems until absolutely warm. This euro 4 set up seems much better.

Thanks for showing us about the town! These little 500's provide more SPH smiles per hour than any bike I've ever ridden. Have Harleys and a T100 Bonneville; but when I fire up for a ride, it's the C500 I'll be on! I have never ridden "Thumper" and not had someone come over and chat about the bike. You meet the friendliest folks on an Enfield!

I put an EJK fuel controller on mine, made a nice difference, bit more power and smoother. It was an old one off a crf 250 but only 3 wires so I cut the plug off and spliced it in easy.

Good review! I seem to have a well-built engine, but one of those gearboxes you were talking about. The vibrations aren’t that intrusive at 70-80km/h after 700km or so, but the gearbox was a little annoying going cleanly from 1 to 2 without pausing unnecessarily in N. I put it down to clotting boot trouble after coming off Suzuki v-twins with a heel/toe shifter. It seems patience as the gearbox runs in may be the order of the day. I’m looking forward to future posts.
@ridewithwarro4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. with 700 klm on the clock your box may improve with a slight clutch adjustment at the casing side. I find that sometimes helps a bit. the real problems with the gearboxes are when they jump out of gear mainly in 5th or hit a neutral from 4th to 5th.

Really good first ride review Warro. I just purchased a late 2019 bullet 500 trials and am very pleased with the bike, its a unique pleasant riding experience. Just one question about tyre pressures because i am getting different advice from the internet some say 20psi and some say 32 psi i was wndering what pressure you run ? thanks stay safe mate
@ridewithwarro2 жыл бұрын
id run around the 30 to 32 as early model classic 500's had handling issues pre 012 models with the off set front forks and dropping pressure on those units to 18/20 helped it out quite a bit. no issues on the later straight front fork models that why back in 012/013 enfield ditched the 18 inch front and rear wheel and gave it a 19 up front to help cure the stability first bike i bought in 012 had the off set forks but surprisingly not all bikes did the wobble over 60 mph

Thanks for the ride-along, Wild Bill. That's a real pretty ride, and she sounds sweet enough, even this early in the break-in. Think this one might be a long-term keeper? Also, one hears that loosening the engine mounts, head steady and so forth just a bit, running at various fast idles, and then torquing it all back down properly can help the engine settle in a bit more squarely, and thereby greatly reduce vibration in some bikes. Ever tried that?
@ridewithwarro4 жыл бұрын
Plus I am keeping the run-in speed down too BB but I may have a front fork issue....lol today I noticed I actually had no fork travel at all. bike was not what I would call very well prepared by the dealer if prepared at all but I will try and sort that issue out myself.

Nice ride sounds like a happy little chaff cutter. You are right about the price, more than I paid for my CB500F. I love that single seat, up swept exhaust. The Himalayan is cheaper and would do the job better. I'd have to ride both to make up. My mind. Gearing is the same as a roadbike I'm told which surprised me.I thought they'd have taller gearing.
@ridewithwarro4 жыл бұрын
Himalayan for the dirt and sealed stuff and this bike i'd say road bike only. Can be taken on dirt but it couldn't say it really enjoyed it. Unlike the KTM which handled it easy and that Kawasaki I had very easy!
@MrAndrew19534 жыл бұрын
Ride with Warro I'd still prefer to put the money towards a Honda CB500X myself. Niche market for old buggars on nostalgia trips. $10K is a lot for tizzed up old single. Not $2K better than a Himalayan. I Follow a vlogger in Tassie who does road trips and a guy in SA who does the same on a Himalayan.

Great review Mr. Warro. What, in your opinion, is the difference in a regular Classic 500 and the Trials if you were to head through some rough track Bush roads ?? Besides the nobbly tyres and upswept silencer ?? Do they share the same gearing and ground clearance for example ??

I hope I didnt damage mine.. The shop told me it was ok to ride it up to 80kph up to 500-600km.. Then anything up to 90kph to about 2000km.. Everything feels ok but it rattles in the motor.. It kind of sounds like the one you're riding.. Push rods not cam chains - is that right? Handlebars buzz a bit but nothing uncomfortable.. Maybe I need to just keep riding it.. Its my second thumper, I also own a BMW F650GS, so maybe Im comparing the vibrations from one thing to another.. Like you said.. Its a new bike with 60 year old technology.. I'm getting 33km/liter which is awesome.. Ive added the rare earth magnets to both sump plugs (like you've done to one of your bikes).. Anyhoo..
@ridewithwarro3 жыл бұрын
more importantly i'd do just short trips stay away from high speed and allow the motor plenty of heat cycles. i did not see any real improvent in these motors over a 10 year period of buying them. dont take to much notice of the dealers either- they are there to sell and sell only. a few years back one guy bought one new-rode it out and ran it at 70 mph/110 for 80 miles -end result big end and a fully re-built motor. play it safe and take it easy
