Welcome to another one of my motovlogs! I've been having a blast creating these lately, especially since the weather has been so great. In this video, I share my thoughts on whether or not I would buy my 2020 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS again, considering what I know today. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments. Thanks for watching!

One thing to always consider when buying tyres is your actual intent of use. All tyres need “breaking in” (just based upon the chemistry required to release the from the mould). Today, it’s much less than tyres from 20 years ago. If you are just doing community miles, then the Michelin Road 5’s are possibly the best. If you’re just using the bike for the twisties, in the dry, with the occasional track day then go with tyres that are designed to be ridden on the edge. Horses for courses. I think the street triple R or RS us a bike that is fun, but more importantly, one you can get a higher percentage out of than any litre bike. 👍😎🇦🇺

@BikesofRye 3 жыл бұрын
This is why I basically went with the supercorsa again as I am all about the dry and more fast road and as you say looking to ride on the edge of the tyre. And yes the Street gets litre bikes worrying 😅

@@BikesofRye Let’s be honest here. Only about 0.00000001% of all riders, on the road have the abilities to get the most out of any litre plus Superbike. The street triple is more than enough to leave some riders on quicker, more capable machines as little dots in the mirrors... 👍😎🇦🇺

The MT07 might be a little bit more suited to your riding experience though of course you could grow into the Street... Great thing about the Street is it can be docile but then an animal when you want it to be

I have the 2019 model, which lacks the fancy blipper and the engine improvements. But I prefer how much more open the architecture is viz gearing (2020 ecu goes crazy if you change gearing) etc. Not to mention that I actually prefer the headlight arrangement and dash. I love her ❤️ Can't believe that triumph actually makes this bike: a track spec bike without fairings that actually works on the road as well. Love her.

New tyres have a releasing agent to make them easier to get out of the mould, it tends to be very greasy and makes new rubber slippy for a couple of hundred miles until scrubbed in properly, you could deffo have issues with big lean angles, wet riding or in my case stopping quickly at junctions as I once found out 😬🤣

You don't need Corsa Roso's unless you are tracking, they are also awful in the wet, the Roso 2's non Corsa tyres are very good and much better in the wet as well, they will also last around 5 - 6 k instead of 3.5k and the last one I had fitted was £135.00 fitted. Yes, you still Need to scrub the tire in. You need to wear the surface rough, like fine sandpaper (made of ruber). Look at how shiny the surfaceof a brand new tire looks. But most importantly, do Not accelerate or break hard for the first 20miles (ish) and first few days. As you see, the grease is still on your tire. Until it dry up, if you give enough force to the wheel (breaking, accelerating), the tire can spin on the rim. That will mess the balance of the tire up in a bad way.

First question; why does your dash change automatically from white to black at 5:40? Secondly from my understanding, I believe scrubbing tyres in is more to do with the tyres rubber surface being quite smooth from the moulding process, and scrubbing it in causes micro pits and abrasions in the rubber which help grip the tarmac better

They actually use the Showa Big Piston Fork up front because riders apparently preferred it to the Ohlins forks. I don't think they'll put IMU on the Striple as it eats into the Speed Triple market and I'm guessing Triumph had to make a decision as to whether to go for IMU or a quickshifter and chose the latter. Great blog, thanks. Where I live the RS is very expensive. Same price as a CBR1000R. I am thinking about the R. Still pricy, about the same as the MT09SP, which has more useable power and better electronics. With supply chain, weather and now Covid restrictions, I have still not had a set ride. Which would you pick. MT09SP or Street Triple R.
@BikesofRye
@BikesofRye 3 жыл бұрын
That's a difficult one... if it was the RS then no question. However when you then consider you can have all that the MT09SP offers over the R then that is close. If you can accept the MT09SP riding position is more adventure bike riding style then you are getting more bike for the money. Just get the MT09SP suspension set up as soon as you get it as the front is rock solid and the rear is supple

Hey, you got my like. Dunno about the scrubbing for sure, but I think the rubber scrubs in very fast on this corsas. Just avoid the white lines on the roads and potholes. Also I have a mod idea that I might do on my bike some day. Can you reply what you think about it? I'm not doing any track days myself so I don't except to ever be able to use all the HP's and go 240 kmh. Instead I would like to trade in some of the top speed and have more acceleration. Can be done changing the front chain sprocket from 16 to 15 or even 14 T, and back chain sprocket from 46 to 50. Have you ever consider doing it, what do you think about it?
@BikesofRye
@BikesofRye 3 жыл бұрын
I have considered it and actually it's quite a common thing to do I may still even do it myself... I don't really exceed 200kmh so it sort of makes sense. I also don't really ride motorway either or commute so I don't really need good fuel or lower rpm... I would say yes it is worth doing

@@BikesofRye I was doing some math. If I'm correct going from 16T down to 14T and rear from 46T to 50T (which are maximum sizes I think) would give as result 20.5 % increase in revs. That is huge right? @@BikesofRye First impression on the Street RS: I like it ! Although it is less curved than the SC, this is still very easy to lean the motorbike. The tyre grip is awesome. But, in comparison with the SC, it might take a bit more time to warm it up. Cost wise, it's less pricey than the S22 and SC SP V3. What made me choose this tyre? After my son put the S21 (rear and front) on his Kawa Z, his level of confidence and cornering speed increased quite significantly. And of course, its price and mileage.

I just lean the bike over off throttle till the chicken strips are gone. And build from that. Maybe take it easy for 50 miles and the shines off the tyre. Then I just ride it like I stole it

You do realise that when overtaking at the crossing you are not allowed to pass the first car in the queue? (Approx 3 minutes in). But lovely bike, I have the black/yellow one, 2020 version as well

Don't know about the new 765, but i have a street 675 from 2014 with about 65k miles on it. Only thing i had to do was change a gasket, but thats mainly because it stood still for a year due to a medical problem which made it dry out.
