I like your rant on the no instructions of the harness and cable installation. I was saying the same thing to myself before i found your video. Thanks

I'm getting a 30hp this week, and I'm going to install myself. This video is helpful because I don't read instructions.

Thank you Paul!!! I really needed this video for the throttle and shift! I started to take my fuel injectors out because of the lack of instructions!

Really appreciate you putting the time and effort into this series. Just bought my Suzuki DF25A a few days ago and starting on the control cables today. Installed it on a 16' Jon boat.

Thank you. Got my motor on the boat yesterday. Looked at how the control cables would hookup, and couldn’t see anything. Saw where the connections must be but how to get there? Went to the installation manual = Take to dealer. Went to KZbin and there you were doing it way I figured it had to be done. Thanks again!

The manual is a joke in regards to installation. I am glad you are finding the videos useful!

Thank you for the videos; like you I was amazed and frustrated by the lack of information in the "Installation Instructions", but unlike you, I was about to give up and try to schedule the local dealer to hook up the control cables and wiring. I suspect i will wind up having questions at some point as I proceed and will watch the relevant sections of Part 4 again. Thanks again!

I will try my best to answer any questions you have..it’s not hard. It is very intimidating to try something that you have never done before, go for it!

It doesnt look like you went for the extra 3' of cable length they suggest. Does the lack of the loops cause you any problems with binding or kinking?
@thepauldixonOC3 жыл бұрын
@@jeremyking4823 I probably dont, i dont have any issues at all though.

@@thepauldixonOC Hah! So I received the cables but there were no cable end connectors. And the parts vendor says that the cable ends come on the motor. The motor vendor referred me to a different parts vendor. Did you get your cable ends with the motor or with the cables? Who is telling me the truth? I just want to get my boat in the water and go fishing! Speaking of which, if you and your family ever get up here to Vermont I'd be happy to take you out to dinner or take you fishing for your great help.

@@jeremyking4823 The throttle cable ends are in the installation packet with the motor. Hopefully its not missing. I appreciate the invite.

Great Video!! thank you. I have this one (Suzuki 30 HP DF30ATL2) and you helped me install it. I saw that you also installed a Hydrofoil. Did that help? I have put one on previous motors and this being a four-stroke, it takes a while to get up on plane (17 foot, smoker craft all semi-full V aluminum hull) I guess that if it helps your boat it would probably help mine as well. Thanks again.
@thepauldixonOC2 жыл бұрын
My transom on the boat is 15", so I ordered the 15" shaft model. However, my CMC jack plate raises the motor 2", which in total is 17". So, I was seeing cavitation and the hydrofoil helped with that problem. Not, sure if I noticed if it gets me on plane faster.

I bought my 25hp from onlineoutboards.com as well. Even though all the manuals don't come with the engine, you can contact them and they'll email you the pdf's. Lucinda just sent me the control cable manual for the outboard side installation. Like your videos better than the manual. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video we just bought the same motor in white and were having the hardest time figuring out where everything went. I’m also thinking of buying one of those digital gauges but don’t know what adapters I need.
@thepauldixonOC3 жыл бұрын
I have the RPM gauge with engine alarms on it.....it was plug and play didn't need any adaptors. Not sure about the fancy digital gauge, I am sure it is the same plug and play. There are a ton of extra connectors coming off the main harness by the control box. I appreciate you comments and enjoy the new motor.

How to drain the oil? Now to get a gaugue cluster or is it just lights?

I just talked with customer service at Suzuki. They said only one wire in the harness will work on the 25 hp. It works a tachometer.

@@thepauldixonOC , Thank you very much Paul for making these videos, they were so helpful. One question, my new 30HP Suzuki came with only 2 cable ends and I was wondering if yours came with 4 and also if you know what part number you had ordered if you had to indeed buy more for your install?
@justinstewart32482 жыл бұрын
It’s frustrating that these modern fuel injected motors still need a physical throttle cable. It should be easy to run this by wire just like all of our modern cars. Very annoying and adds complexity.

Can you tell me the part number of those control cables you needed to buy?

@@thepauldixonOC thank you so much! Glad you already did the hard work. My motor comes in next week so I want to be ready. Did you need to buy an extension for the electrical or did that all come at length? My boat needs 10 ft.
@thepauldixonOC4 жыл бұрын
@@noplacefast I forget if my videos show the length but they give you about 20ft, I coiled mine up and had to hide the excess. Your going to really like that motor.....Suzuki made my boat great again!!

@@noplacefast Hey no problem, the main reason I made the videos was because there aren't any real installation manuals. For some reason Suzuki thinks that everyone is going to have it installed for them. The manual seems to leave out information on purpose......come on Suzuki!!

I got the DF20 and I gotta say, the Suzuki engineers sure didn't make it easy to change the oil and oil filter on these things. You have to pull both side cowlings off and remove plumbing just to get to the oil filter. They couldn't even figure out how to use a simple spin on motorcycle type oil filter instead you have a cartridge style filter. Real pain in the ass.
@thepauldixonOC3 жыл бұрын
Have you tried just stabbing the oil filter with a screw driver and then you use that as handle to get leverage and spin it off. That's a trick I use on cars that don't have room for an oil filter wrench. Maybe I will take a video and try it out.....
