@Giant Killer I doubt it and will be surprised if they do. If you haven't test rode a Triumph triple before, it's perfection, cross between the torque of a v-twin and scream of a I-4. It sounds exotic. The drive from down low makes a GSX-R 750 seem gutless by comparison, like an R6 vs the other 600s. It sucks up top because there's no over-rev like the Japanese fours, once you redline you hit the rev-limiter immediately. My L2 Busa has 1K over rev after redline.

@@Pillokun best handling *production chassis ever made
@Pillokun4 жыл бұрын
@@kitperry777 Like I said, it depends on the test, rider and year they do the comparison. Even Motorcycle.com said one year that it was the best but the next they said that it felt old and had issues with rear feel or what ever it was. For me the D675 is best handling bike but the sharpest handling frame is the St765 with the higher frame, it is so nimble when it falls into the corners. If you want the best grunt then the mk1/mk2 with longer stroke is preferable(my fav) and best for shorter riders with its super slim seat. I would never buy this d765 because my old mk2 d675 had more bhp than this one. 765 is pretty much only for combating the stricter regulations but gives pretty much the same experience as the older 675 engines. For this price though they should have offered like a kalex frame or something cheap from the moto2 series.
@Whos-That-Guy4 жыл бұрын
refreshing to hear an unbiased opinion. I feel that if the price was 20% cheaper and they didn't make it a limited run the review would have a different vibe. It just sounds like a solid evolution to the 675. Although, the new dash, carbon body work and suspension is probably worth the price difference if you where to do those things yourself... Still, a V2 is cheaper so I know what I would rather.

Pretty negative review compared to most I've seen, but I appreciate valid criticisms more than gushing enthusiasm. Now that sports bikes have become increasingly narrow focused on track performance, I'm also more of a fan of the current crop of naked bikes for street use. Given the drop in sales of race replica sports bikes, I wonder if these limited edition models will become the approach of more manufacturers? Supersports sold well 15 years ago. Today you can barely give them away. Triumph are capitalising on the Moto 2 connection, but then why not? This is effectively a run-out model, make a profit by limiting number built, allowing higher price, and update without much development. There's still several chassi manufacturers and no uniform look. I agree about the opportunity lost though but for more reasons than looks, when MV upgraded their F3 675 3 cyl 124hp to 798cc they added over 20hp to a total of 148hp. Triumph for some reason elected to not add any HP on top of the previous 128hp 675 engine but instead only added torque. This is surely due to the fact that the Daytona series has been discontinued, this limited edition feels like a cashgrab. The bike looks more or less exactly like the 2013 675R with carbon fairings. New instrument panel but still the same shitty headlights i had on my 2013 675 Standard. A let down tbh, wish they had instead released an updated model visually with 140 ish hp and led headlights. The GSXR 750 held this category for several decades. That being said, today it finds itself in a uniquely slim market place. Hence at $17,500 the Daytona 765 is really for those who want a collectible that they will ride once a year and park in their family room so they can say; “Look what I got!” And then sell it on Mecham 20 years from now for $50k! Very nice bike, but not really very practical. For that money you can have any number of liter class sportbikes with more performance.

I've looked at the Daytona 675 and 765 on paper, and compared spec sheets and find the performance on paper to be marginal at best. The Daytona 675R (which there are plenty available secondhand) still had ohlins front and rear, brembo brakes, ride by wire throttle, a quickshifter with the ability to add a blipper. So aside from looks, some more midrange and electronics which don't seem too different from what the 675R has, this bike doesn't seem like a big improvement. You could buy a very low mileage 675R, mod it to tell and probably get a much better bike for half the price. Troy, you say you've enjoyed the old daytona, can you say whether or not this 765 is any better in the real world? Especially if you give the old daytona a straight pipe and ecu tune to increase midrange.

You were actually a massive reason as to why back in 2016 i brought a 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R id watched your reviews on the bike along with others and everyone seemed to wax lyrical about it. I was absolutely bowled over once i brought it and had the suspension tuned just what a great bike it was definitely imo middleweight supersport class leader bar none! My thoughts on this new Moto 2 Daytona 765 is it seems to be getting good reviews but with that price tag you would have to be a Triumph Daytona nut to buy it as like you have pointed out there’s a BIG market out there if you have $17500 kicking about with some amazing bikes to consider. Yes you get exclusivity with this Daytona but is that enough imo no.........good job Triumph but id be spending my $17500 on something else. Adam 🇬🇧

Ate the brake discs really a big deal? Does ANYONE run out of brakes on this bike? Or is just a case of more being more? Because if the brakes do the job perfectly, then it's no more at fault for not being 330 than the other ones for not being 380 or 420 or whatever other unnecessary size you can come up with. Smaller is lighter. If they work just as good, then I'd consider it a benefit. And let's be real here, less than 10% of the people who buy one of these need more heat dissipation than a single rotor would provide, and actual stopping is tire and weight-transfer limited. But, you've always got to be fashionable...
