My husband and I have never been smokers so I was shocked the 1st time you said those walls could be covered in nicotine but I just sat stunned when you started cleaning the ceiling and it was coming off!!! Seeing it again still stuns me that anybody could live with that but the " labor intensive cleaning" you did is amazing & stunning. Seeing it again still stuns me at the change in the room and all it needed( I' m not minimizing the job at all) was a cleaning.!! Unbelievable! Some people would have just covered the walls in drywall and been done. Your choice is admirable!! Sandi

@@houdin1092 was just thinking that. I hope they tested for it and lead. My terrace resto has really been bogged down from uncovering loads of lead paint and having to put it right. Also my plaster has asbestos reinforcing it so couldn’t just knock it down etc in some rooms

Oh Laura. Loved this. We bought a 1950’s wreak of a house on half an acre of land. We’ve never even discussed rennovations before. I still don’t really know how it happened. We just saw what it could be and did it. Sadly I was the proud owner of a baby and a toddler and the house wasn’t liveable and we couldn’t have the kids on a building site. So I moved the kids into a rental and my husband worked with an army of trades men for 3 months. It cost over £100K. We loved the process and have the bug now. My biggest regret in life is not choosing to do exactly what you are doing before the kids. We could never now do that slow burn of a transformation where you save money and get the joy of doing it yourself. I also look around at my house and there are so many things I don’t love because I had to make a house load of decisions in one go without ever living in it. Mostly things that can be undone when I get the balls to tell my husband. But still.... I live through you Laura and I love your content. X

I commend the vision you two must have had when you decided to purchase this property. I had a vision of what my home could be when I bought my house, but it was no way in the state yours was. I've had walls removed and an extension built, removed a fireplace and altered the staircase and a complete redecoration but what you've both done is on a completely new level. I take my hat off to you both, just saying well done doesn't cut it, but well done anyway.

We're renovating as well and it's so easy to kinda forget how much time and effort went into everything! Especially when it's more than just some paint! I might frame a before photo of every room in the house and hang it near the door, just to remind everyone of how different it was haha! Really fun to see all those rooms you did! Love all the blue as well, I just can't seem to get away from blue colours, are you the same? :)

So inspirational!!! We just bought a house last year(mind you it was built in 1953 so not nearly as old or as much wallpaper ;) ) and I've been doing most of the upgrades myself. I get so burnt out on all of the projects that need to be done. This just reinspired me to get moving on my next project! Love seeing all of your progress.
