Hello Viper. I would like to tell you a little about this MRE. The idea when creating it was simple - to create an MRE from dishes that a soldier usually eats at home. Therefore, it was decided not to clog it with a huge number of pastes and other canned goods, but simply put large portions of simple homemade dishes. For example, why are there 2 dishes for lunch, because traditionally in Ukraine it is customary to eat 2 dishes for lunch - soup and, for example, potatoes with meat. In this way, they tried to create a feeling of home comfort for the soldier. There are also enhanced versions of these MRE, they include chocolate, dried fruits, chewing gums and an additional portion of 200 g of stew for dinner. Before the war, these rations were about $ 6-7, I sometimes bought them for fishing, now I don’t know my conscience does not allow me to buy them. With best wishes, your subscriber from Ukraine!

I could tell these were made as a moral booster for the soldiers to remember home. Thanks for the info, all very appreciated. You're right, the price on these is the sky, easy $60+ US, but usually more. The fortified version, with the extras, is hard to find. TfW

Looks like the powers that be in the Ukraine military have gone towards familiar foods for their soldiers. They're not the only country to do so, and I bet it helps with morale. Looks a bit heavy on the Lunch by American standards, but that may be a cultural thing. Some cultures eat a big lunch and a lighter dinner, whereas we're the opposite here in the US. A big breakfast is a great way to get the carbs and proteins to start the day. Crackers seem to be stale world wide, especially when the rations well into its shelf life. Looks like a pretty hearty ration to me. I've never eaten any Ukrainian dishes (or much Eastern European food period for that matter, except for Kielbasa and cabbage), so I'm sure they have a different spice palette than I'm used to. Thanks for sharing the Ukrainian 24 MRE with your viewers.

Thanks JM, I like tea but was not much for rye bread either. Like you, I didnt get a taste for it until rations. The bread in this wasn't really good until you crumble it in the main to soften it up a bit. I wouldn't mind trying the canned version some day.

I heard Ukrainian SOFs and units in offensive use these kind of rations and on ordinary defense/century ops units usually use field kitchen over the full-day ration in the war that is going on. Since producing ration costs time and budget more then establishing field kitchen. Great review.
@vipergtsmre Жыл бұрын
I have heard similar. Rations like this and MRE are only meant to be used when a permanent or mobile field kitchen isn't available. I have a stack of US UGR trays, they are pretty much just an mre with like 10 to 18 portions.
@dmdj8588 Жыл бұрын
@@vipergtsmre Yeah. The reason we've seen many captured russian MREs is cuz of they have no sufficient field kitchen with sufficient fresh'food supply and they are on offensive, and lack of infrastructure to be utilized in front(russians had to bring water with them even.)

@@vipergtsmre there's no way of feeding 200000 men working in the front with just fresh MREs so they had to brought out old early 2000s-late 1990s MREs in stock.(there were rumors russian troops ate 1999's white star ration on last spring's early offensive towards kyiv.)
