2021-2022 Trek Domane AL 2 | A Fast, Lightweight, and Affordable Road Bike

3:02 Competitive commuter. Nice! Got my Domane AL2 last year. Came with disk brakes and 700X32mm Bontrager tyres stock. Replaced them with Panaracer GK SK 38mm on the stock rims. With the new rims now 38h x 35w x 22.5 InDiameter, The Panaracers now measures to a witdh of 40mm, with room to spare. Also upgraded to 105 drive train, 11-34cogs. Replaced the inefficient Tektro with Juintech hydraulic brakes. I find that the cable actuated hydrolic brakes easier to maintain and is a ton less money that I could afford to get the 105s full hydros.

My bike (same model) also came with 700x25c tires, in the USA. Also had to swap the brake pads right away for Shimano ultegra 6800s. Other than that, I really like this bike. 👍

Great video. Last year, I bought this bike and had fallen in love with it. It's a great bike, but one downside is the square-tapered cranksets. It flexes a lot when pushing the pedal hard.

Mine now has a Shimano 105. So, yes, I believe it's possible to go with Tiagra. The bike is still holding up surprisingly well, and I've had joined multiple duathlons and a triathlon last year with it.

The rim brakes were actually the first components I had to upgrade, due to the weak stopping power of the stock ones. But apart from that, this is a really capable bike that's great for the price.

Hi AJ! According to a friend of mine who owns a 2020 rim brake model, he didn't change anything when he upgraded his groupset to Ultegra. Hope that answers your question! :D Balitaan mo din ako kasi nagbabalak ako magupgrade hahaha.

Maraming salamat! Yes sir. Ako mismo first road bike ko siya, and I felt at home thanks to the comfortable geometry. Since I ride mostly sa Clark where the roads are great, wala ako masyado problema. But if you ride sa city and want to explore a bit offroad, I would recommend the disc brake version with its wider tire clearance. Mejo mas mahal nga lang ng around 10-15k.

I actually bought them from a local bike store and they only service the area we're in. I suggest you check your LBS and look for Ultegra brake shoes for rim brakes. :)

Hi! Sorry for the SUPER late response, but According to some folks from the Trek Domane Owners Lounge on Facebook, this rim brake version can accommodate up to 32c tires. However, the manufacturer recommends up to 28s only.

Good question! Atin lang parehung pros and cons. Ita ping sinabi mu, itang keng MTB dakal ka gearing options and mas maragul ya cogs, so good ya for beginners. Itang metung a advantage na pang akakit ku keng MTB, itang wide handlebar reach. Uling mas maka buklat ka gamat keng MTB, mas makabuklat ka salu, and breathing becomes easier. Pero ini, uling misane naku ukyatan plus mayan ya, agyu kuneng ukyat keng Lily Hill a eko man gagamitan ngan detang gears ku gulut (last time ku minukyat, atin ku pa yatang 3-4 gears a mitatagan). Plus, uling mayan ya, mas atin kung control keng bike, so eku mengapa-zigzag keng ukyat. Which means mas efficient and mas mabilis ing climbing. Sanayan murin. Dati eku man makatalakad to grind, pero ngeni uling misane naku kening RB, makatalakad naku, so apag-ukyatan kuneng masalese. Try ke kanyan Banal. Len ku nung mag improve ku over my last time karin a meg MTB ku.

Not really. I think it's actually great for climbs because of the compact crank and the overall weight. But I still think that the rider's fitness, weight, and experience with climbs would play more of a role rather than the group set itself.

Check nio sa website ni Trek sir yung sizing guide nila. :) Sundin nio nalang yun. If in doubt, get the smaller one tapos adjust nalang stem length/handlebar angles. :)
