I would recommend masking off the area before applying that surface prep solution. I didn't mask off when i installed one of those hood deflectors on my Blazer, and it left marks on the paint's finish where i had over wiped with the surface prep solution. I could not get all those marks off the paint no matter how much I tried to wipe it off with alcohol. I ended up putting a coat of wax on that area and that seemed to fix the paint's finish. So, next time, if I ever install something like that again with that surface prep solution, I will definitely mask off the area. Just a helpful hint for anyone who will do this on their vehicle in the future too. I guess it does pay to follow the instructions sometimes. 🙂

@@TheSnyds No, I wasn't aware of the clay bar and I don't have one. I just used a rag and rubbing alcohol. But putting a coat of wax on and rubbing it off seemed to do the trick.

Are there any that don't require tape? I've had the 3M tape deflectors before and I could never get them on straight.

How likely will water and soap get underneath will washing the car?

Well, there are gaps in the tape. I bought one for my silverado, ended up not installing it, dont want my paint pulling off if i ever decide to remove it.

We have a coating Chevy applied as part of a warranty package. We shall see how it holds up. But it's similar to PPF

@@TheSnyds I always get the Simonz Glass coating package from the Chevy dealership when I buy new cars.
