In Florida, window visors are a must & I have had them on my last 3 vehicles. Allows the car to be vented sitting in the hot Florida sun without any rain coming in. Although, small drawbacks are bugs occasionally getting in & people using leaf blowers around the car can make a mess inside, but I wouldn't have a vehicle without them. Just got a bug deflector, mainly for looks.

@hwsadberry67813 жыл бұрын
They do deflect bugs, grasshoppers, rocks etc. They aren't and never were intended to keep your windshield completely clean from bug guts. Keeping the front edge of your hood from taking damage from direct hits from hard bugs as well as the acid from the guts along with a bit of security from rocks was the original intent imo. Take a look at an older truck that never had a guard and look at one that has and you will see what I'm talking about. The guards on the 1ROAD Suburban are nearly the same as I had on my Tahoe. Not only do they serve to protect the paint job and the windshield but look great on that body style. I had to replace my hood guard once after a rock hit and broke it. No doubt it saved me from taking more expensive damage.

Only had one truck with deflector on it. Was on there over ten years. Ruined the paint down deep in there where I couldn't wash well. Also had a small rock chip in the windshield. You can't win. Run what you like, it's more of a trim item than a deflector though. Cleaned all kinds of bugs off my windshield in N. Carolina. Maybe deflects Nats, I don't know. I have those side window shades also, mine are the 3M tape on's. Biggest problem with those is having them blow off going down the road. Dang 3M tape is a bear to get loose but be damned if it has not much problem on it's own. The shades are nice in humid area's where in spring you may not want defrost on but feel being able to see is sorta important too.

The hood bug deflectors are actually incredible. If you’ve ever driven through an area with heavy bug infestation at night where you can see it working it’s truly amazing. I had one on my truck years ago and it was a life saver as I worked a lot at night. However, I ordered the Weathertech for my 2018 Silverado a couple of years ago and was incredibly disappointed. The screw holes didn’t line up with the factory locations on the truck and once mounted it was incredibly wobbly and it was obvious it would have scratched my hood up badly. I ended up giving it away to someone else. I’d like to get one for my truck now, but don’t know which one would fit securely. I know it’s not the Weathertech!!

The old (they defectors that were about 5” tall with zero angles, just straight up, and most of them were either clear or had a blue tint) ones on the square body Suburbans, actually worked. Growing up, we had a ‘74 ‘Burban w/ 454 and went on minimum 3 family camping trips a year. 2 of the trips were in the Cascades mountains in Washington. The other 1 was our annual trip to Montana to see other side of the family. So, 6 of us in this suburban pulling a 21’ Terry travel trailer with that billboard of a bug deflector. By time you got through eastern Washington, which believe it or not is partially a desert, that deflector would be covered with at least 2 layers of large insects lol.

I just put on the AVS deflectors but put them on crooked..is there a way to take them off and reposition them?
@michealrobinson2 жыл бұрын
@@A.C.71 AVS uses 3M automotive grade 2 way adhesive tape, which is usually impossible to pull up and reuse. If it hasn't been adhered to the vehicle for an extended time i.e. more then a few hours, it may be possible to slowly pull the misaligned ones and reposition. In my experience, you will likely have to pull them, remove the old 3M tape, apply new tape and reinstall. 3M automotive tape can be found at just about any auto parts store. Pro tip, next time you go to install, position the piece where you think it looks and functions as intended, only lightly press on one position on each end to hold it in place while you take a step back to check alignment/fitment, if it's good, continue to secure the rest, if not, this makes it a whole lot easier to remove and reposition.

They are tight and you do have to fiddle around to get optimal seating, but mine don't have the clips. To increase the overall "slipperiness" of the glass I siliconed the crap out of the side channels and cleaned the top edge well.
