This is possibly one of the best categories of motorcycles, and I’m glad to see these in the line up. So many of the 600 Supersports have disappeared, but these are more road worthy and perfect for “My First Big Bike”.

A couple of pros giving an honest review and comparison. Informative and articulate. A fine piece of journalism for sure. I am 55 years old and riding since I had my drivers license. My final four were the Kawasaki z900rs Cafe, Honda CBR650R and these two machines. My final two were the Aprilia and Triumph. The Aprilia dealer is 1.5.hours from my home and 3 phone calls to the dealer left me with a feeling that they were not really interested in selling me a bike. Triumph dealer an hour away and immediately engaged me in the process of ordering and taking deliver of the Trident. I had the dealer fit the quickshifter which is a hoot. Now....the bad news....at 600 miles and one week after the break in service and quickshifter install the bike threw 3 codes. Trans fault, check engine and coolent temp high. Dealer assured me they were all quickshifter related. Bike has been at the dealer for 2 weeks. I had to trailer it there. Parts on order. Was thinking that modular triple from Thailand would be rock solid. Hmmmm........

Maybe you just had bad luck. In general I think that all brands are pretty reliable nowadays but there are always a few black sheep. The big Aprilia recall for the 660‘s wasn‘t even Aprilia‘s fault, a supplier just messed up so that could have happened to every brand. The Z900 RS is certainly a unique bike, great taste! Anyway, good luck on your motorcycling journey, I‘m just starting mine right now by getting my license

Loved this review. I have a Daytona 675R and my husband has a Tuono 1100 which I also love, but is just too much for me. I’ve been looking at both of these bikes, and this helped confirm what I was thinking. Pre-ordered a Tuono 660 Factory. However, my 675R is the best bike I’ve ever owned - so wouldn’t hesitate to buy either!

got the tuono 660 about a month ago. bought the quickshifter and IMU, but still waiting for them to come in stock to be installed. an OEM option that no one mentions is the pillion with the wings like the full size tuono. it's only in black, but still looks cool. a quickshifter and IMU are only 200 bones each, but somehow a seat cost 300. not sure how that happens, but whatever; i don't ride to save money.

Rode both bikes and my conclusion is that trintet 660 is more designed for beginners it's a very solid and smooth bike but it revs slowly and in a more friendly way for the experienced rider the bike feels kinda lackluster and boring. While Tuono 660 has a more playful nature and is suited more for an experienced rider who wants a rational sports bike on the street and track.
@rbattson7171
@rbattson7171 9 ай бұрын
It should be mentioned, that the tuono really has to be spanked to get the best out of it, which is fine if you like the track. However, the trident 660 trident performs much lower down the rev range, which appeals to someone wanting a bike that can/is fun without needing to go around the streets hell for leather to get the best out of it. Thank you for the video.

Man I was so happy to see this comparison because these two were my picks I’ve owned Ducati before and a GSXR 1000 but I want lighter and liked the riding position on the Aprilla vs the RS version. When you look at reviews the Trident some say is smooth and a bit boring. If your riding an MT07 or MT 09 I would understand why they would feel that way. Hooligan comes to mind. My other consideration would have to be the KTM Duke 890. That power delivery on that bike is awesome and it makes a great all around bike. I just stayed away from KTM because the paint is WILD and not as nice looking to me as the Trident.

@timothydubber549
@timothydubber549 3 жыл бұрын
Because they’re not in the same category, not really. It’s a very strange comparison. In the UK at least, the Triumph sits with the Z650, MT07, SV650. A beginner friendly, basic suspension 65-80bhp bike. The Tuono is more of a competitor to the MT09, Street Triple, Z900 segment. Better suspension, a more sophisticated electronics package and a similar price. A little underpowered compared to them, but not a million miles away.

SV650 is a great bike, rock solid, reliable, and good value. If someone has the money for a Tuono, they should definitely consider other bikes first. Unless you're very budget-conscious (in which case you should probably be looking at Japanese bikes, not European exotica), the Aprilia trounces the Triumph: it has IMU-based lean sensitive TC and cornering ABS, cruise control, bigger front discs with 4-piston Brembo calipers (2-piston Nissin setup on the Triumph), ride-by-wire throttle with five riding modes, engine brake modes, anti-wheelie, selectable engine maps, less weight, more power, more torque... looking at both the front tyres of these motorcycles, the Aprilia Pirelli Diablo rosso corsa 2 ?? are well used to the edge, where the Triumph Michelin Road 4 ??.... are hardly even coming down near the edge of the tyre! any specific reason for that??... if you guys really rode these 2 machines on the road for a few days then either the tyres are very different compounds and / or one motorcycle enjoys leaning where the other one prefers cruising?... were the 2 brands of tyres similar in their compounds and road performance? kindly clarify since it indeed has a profound effect on the performance and feel of the motorcycles. Thank you, great video!

If you are on the fence on which bike to buy IMHO get the Triumph , these reviewers need to look at the Tuono again the fit and finish Is not as good as the Triumph ...I know I have a Tuono 660 , there are a lot of bad things going on with the RS/Tuono 660s ATM just read whats going on In the forums . If I could turn the clock back six weeks , I would wait twelve months before I bought my bike maybe by then Aprilia might just have got this bike sorted.

How is it possible that the Aprilia 660 has so much more horse power than the kawasaki 650 or yamaha mt07 twin engines ? Or even the 660 Trident tripple ?

I think the Aprilia is in a different category fellas and hands down a better bike…. price difference is huge and would be better compatible the street triple S…..

Decent comparison, but it just feels like you are trying SUPER hard not to upset those sponsors. So much, "Not in a bad way... That's not a bad thing... Not that there's anything wrong with that..." 🙄 And saying that the Triumph "doesn't give up that much in performance..." is totally not what literally EVERY other YT review says.

Great review guys. I tuned in because I have a Tuono V4 Factory and wanted to see if it was blasphemy to use the Tuono name on a 660. Apparently Aprilia did it right,......Again. I'd love to ride them both. They look like fun.

Yea I Will be honest I really hoped the trident would be a little more spicy. Just a tad. If it just matched the aprillia power wise it would be a hot ticket…or just give us a RS version with upgraded everything included a higher state of tune and I’ll buy it. The trident is so pretty. If only it was a sleeper

That’s a pretty bad comparison and not comparing apples to apples, it would be better to compare the street triple 660s or 675 to the RS660, not a sports bike to a cruiser/cafe racer

Tuono 660 or Trident 660 - if you could get them nearly for the same price (both brand new) 😉❓ That's what I am thinking about right now in cold Germany 🙈😂... decisions, decision 😄

not really in same class tbh......rider has to determine what their looking for. i think people looking for either of these bikes are looking for different things.....i looked at both tbh but went KTM in the end...RS is too expensive and aprilia is as well .....trident was just a little on soft side.....dont want to be switching bikes quickly or being stuck with something kinda blah....not to mention everyone in so cal is marking up the price so MSRP goes out the window......triple RS becomes 17k OtD, trident becomes what the triple should be and aprilia comes in just short of a 1100 tuono.....price is always a factor.......the KTM had the best deals for me anyway..... wish the tuono was closer to a 800cc bike in 115-120 hp range....that would be sweet ass bike

Non-pro tip…don’t say “yea Michael” it instantly serves as a shocking reminder the conversational format is still rehearsed. I get that it has to be, but no need to remind us, and nobody says the other persons name in normal non show business/news conversation. Ya I don't get that either what the hell is a sport naked? That's kind of an oxymoron.
@c0dy1287
@c0dy1287 3 жыл бұрын
I used to own an older Yamaha that was just a half faired naked bike and it kinda just looks like Aprilia's modern take on it, but I still essentially see a half faired naked bike, handlebars with the more upright position. I'm guessing it just sounds cooler and more marketable to say "sport naked" but I also don't really see a problem with that either.

good format. dude on the left needs to stop putting words in waheed's mouth, and saying things like "just to get back to..." or "where i wanted to go with that was...". not that it was particularly wrong, but just that it doesn't really flow like he thinks it does. leave those preambles and qualifications out and you'll be golden.
