Got my Zealot s today. Tracking was almost worthless. The UPS guy put it on my porch and didn't even knock on the door, and it was visible and accessible just 10 feet from the sidewalk, and I live close to downtown and have pedestrians. I didn't get the optional shipping insurance. Next time I will probably have them hold it at the UPS facility. Carefully opened the box and no instructions. Figured the remote out and this thing looks FREAKIN AWESOME. Remote turns everything on or off, reverse goes as fast as forward, remote vibrates and led on remote is easy to read, purple lights are really cool, this is one nice board. I am charging the battery and will test it tomorrow. I don't see how the deck could be any better, the flex and curve looks perfect and it has a real grippy finish. Everything looks super well done. I paid $800 after discount.

*Thank you for coverin the truck characteristics!* A lot of reviewers skip over it but it's probably the most important thing. I love this type of stuff. Things like rake, bushing seat and width makes a bigger difference than most realise so I really enjoyed this part of the review 👏🏼👏🏼

Hi Daniel, I’m loving your videos and I’m now subscribed! You give very good and clear information and good explanations, also your filming and editing are very good too. Thank you for your content! I’m actually watching a lot of your videos at the moment as I’m trying to choose my first ever Eboard. Specifications wise I’m torn between the backfire zealot s and the lycaon swift. I don’t really care much on looks. Part of my dilemma is that I’m 6.7ft and 240lbs and I can’t find the maximum load specs for the backfire zealot s but I know the swift is 330lbs. The swift has a lower battery box but the backfire has more flex and forged trucks and the protective rim around the board (in case I hit a guard rail like your friend did lol) etc. I mostly plan on skating in the summer for fun rather than commuting though I’m not ruling it out for summer travels, and will probably buy cloud wheels because of the bad roads and pavements around here. I know your much smaller than my self, but you seem to have a lot of knowledge about Eboards in general. So any advice you could give for a large person trying to pick between the two as their first (and probably the only board they’ll buy for a good few yrs) board or any advice in general would be greatly appreciated. I think you’d be happy with either one tbh. Both have their own advantages. If you go with Backfire just be sure to double check with them about weight limit.

I have emailed backfire twice last week but I haven’t heard back yet,...but I do seem to be the maximum weight for their other boards including the original zealot. So I’ll probably end up grabbing the swift, although I think Id really like the features and the looks of the zealot s,...it seems to be the better made board from videos I’ve seen tbh. Hey, I really love your videos, I've probably watched 50+ of them these past few weeks. I am highly interested in getting an electric skateboard and cannot thank you enough for all your hours and hard work and consistency. I was considering the exway flex riot at the top of my list, but have recently been considering the backfire zealot s now above it. I have size 13 feet and cannot find anyone saying good things or that it is still comfortable on the exway flex riot with size 12+ shoe. What do you think? Would you go with the backfire? Range and top speed are amazing features, but this is not my primary mode of transportation and would merely be for the sport of it and having a good time. Daniel thanks for your videos! The only one out there who really go deep into any specs and not just selling the board. I got the Zealot S and I find it really unstable even at 25 km/h, keep getting speed wobbles. Thought was because of bushing but damn 95A is quite hard. I clearly need more practise as I'm still a newbie, but what can you suggest to make the board feel more stable? You reckon tall barrels (same durometer) instead of the top cone ones would be enough? I'm about 75kg.

Doesn’t Zealot S already use barrel + barrel for the rear truck? If it’s barrel + cone, yeah you can try switching the cone to a barrel. Maybe around 92A and with a cup washer. (That’s assuming the stock bushings are still 95A. May want to double check with Backfire.) Also I suggest practicing carving at lower speeds first.

Great video, really! One thing about the power increase of the already strong zealot is that they said the same about the G3 and the G3 plus and I have seen personally acceleration and hills climb test between the G3 and the G3 plus and they were exactly the same, are they doing the same scam here to sell this at a higher price? The battery is also the same but used fully now? It sure is more expensive and I am not sure how many trucks have been broken on the original zealot. Just wondering...

Haha right. I was careful to say “Backfire claims...” because I don’t know if there’s that much increase. Ive compared G3 and G3 Plus as well, both on 96mm wheels and the G3 was faster every time. Asked Backfire about it and they said the G3 Plus would be faster if both were using 85mm wheels instead. Because of different motor Kv or something, I forget.

Different motors likely wouldn’t be compatible with that ESC, and wouldn’t make much difference even if they were. You’d need to upgrade the ESC as well (and possibly battery but not sure) for any noticeable gain in performance. You can look into “VESC”.

Great review as always! I am currently on a Meepo V3 and thinking of upgrading. I can’t decide between the Exway Flex and the Backfire Zealot S. I am a heavier rider, so the beefier battery in the Zealot S will come in handy. However the Exway App also seems very compelling. Backfire advertises an app, as well but I can’t find any tangible info on it. One last point, I can get the Flex Riot shipped “localy” from the EU, while the Zealot S will ship from China. What do you recommend?

What did you decide? I am a heavier rider myself and looking between this and the nla pro. I am a bit scared for ahort range batteries because of the shorter lifespan. If i charge it every other day, the board will be worthless and two years. Right?

Oh, also, the motor wattage is what they can take/handle not what they necessarily get through the battery-BMS-ESC-motors.

Right, and I think Backfire’s claimed 16% increase is based on that increased max motor wattage. So the actual increase shouldn’t be that high.

I just received my Zealot S and I absolutely love it! I have a few questions of you can please please help me out. You look like you put cloudwheels on everything are you buying a ton of sets or using the same sets of wheels because Ive heard mostly good reviews about them but a few bad reviews say after a month they have no grip and wore down fast. Is that true , if you say they’ll hold up then I’m buying the wheels tonight...with your code of course👍 Last question, in the box that our Zealot S came in it included 2 red “X” looking things with 4 holes one in each point of the X. I’m assuming to place on the top of the board that matches those 4 screws but is this needed and what are they for? I think the red throws off the vibe the board and don’t want to put them on but should i? Ok last last question I promise, I’m starting to get a squeaky noise when I turn the board in either direction, am I suppose to put some WD-40 pr something aomewhere or what can I do to make the squeaking stop. Again thank you brother I really appreciate your time and answering my stupid questions but you’ve already helped me out more then you know🙌

I only have Cloudwheels on two boards actually, though I have more than two sets. The company sent them to me. I have a video about their pros and cons. Those two X things are for using countersunk screws on decks with holes for non-countersunk screws. You don’t need them on the Zealot S unless you want to use them as decoration. For the squeaking sound, you can use a bit of lube on the bushings and pivot cups to get rid of that but it’ll come back eventually. I think I’ve seen people say don’t use WD-40. I have a tiny bottle of lube from a skate shop. Hope that helped!

The lights are an unnecessary, added cost and gimmicky, especially since you can't change the color from worthless blacklight to something useful. As for the purple...ish color, people are either going to love or hate it. Why not pick a safer color that no one is going to see and then decide not to buy the board because they hate the color. I don't hate the color, but I think Backfire is hurting themselves by not going with something like black, blue, green or even just natural wood if they want to cut even more cost. Does anyone hate the Boosted or Jed Boards design for sticking with natural wood? I don't think so.

So I have an Exway X1 and I was looking to get a new board. For the price, I think the Zealot S is my best option for better range with belt drive, but I really prefer a stiffer dieck. Is the new composite deck that comes with the Zealot S going to be a huge change for me or should I not worry about it too much?

Yes please, cannot decide between those two. I like more range and Power on the zealot s, but in every video you see the flex is the most fun board to ride with and the trucks are so great. That's why I cannot decide between them.

Been doing a lot of research and the backfire zealot is better in almost all ways, exways customer service is almost none existent

Also you forgot to mention unlike other backfire boards the zealot boards hold the turbo mode on. Other boards have a 30 second limit on turbo mode from backfire.
