I think I am finally going to drop the money on some cloud wheels. Thanks for the info!

I've loved the 105 discovery wheels for years. I had them on my evolve - which got stolen. And I have them on my new board. They don't really affect the height that much, but the comfort level has gone way up.

Ohhhh! Snap, I didn't expect that I needed the Rover 165R. I need that wheel with 10mm bearings, not the usual 8mm bearings generally set in use by conventional skateboard designed truck. See, with the wider bearing, it's not actually achieving anything for the wheel, but it will however put my StreetCarver from off the porch and back into some pretentious cruises about my local college campus... This video was fresh in my mind and there's no way I wanted to overlook that smal3elsl brief mention about the 165R Rovers. Turns out, I would have a BMW skateboard worth actually riding with those wheels, 😅 albeit the current tech still doesn't have Hoverboards by Matel™ and my Carver nearly qualifies as a unique functional novelty collectable from 2003. Anyway, yes, I certainly need those wheels.... Why not? On a minor note of disclosure, I don't even like CloudWheels, nor do I really have any reason to hate the, so that just throws that prospect into pointlessness.... But I mean, aren't you going to definitely want to put those fly rims on your car? Well, my board is made by a car company, but it's not a Lexus. (*Cringe*)

people always comment how my belts are too loose, only time being too loose isn't an advantage is breaking at speed downhill. but why would i be doing that lol. always felt i got better performance when they were too loose.

Hydros ( 2:41) have a rubber contact patch, not urethane, so theoretically better for not slipping... but I don't have tested them in first person 😅 I'm on acoustic/Ldp boards, don't ride much in the rain but in winter I'm always tempted to get hydro wheels, just for safety. Great video anyway! 😊😊

Boosted 105's clones really don't provide more comfort. I think the Cloud wheels discovery (original style) are better at handeling ruffer asphalt roads. Boosted 105's indeed vibrate a bit at lower speeds and aren't as comfortable on ruff asphalt as those cloudwheels. But on smooth asphalt they offer awesome grip and ride feel! But free roll will suffer though. I prefer 105's still myself. But even more normal urethane wheels 😁🤙

My 105 clones don't vibrate at all.

@@Dutch800 if you drive on super smooth road at slower speeds then they do. I have 2 different clones and they both do it. But it's not a real nuance to me

I have the 165 Rover wheels on my exway atlas. Compared to the stock pneumatic wheels there are a few pros and cons. The peace of mind of not having to worry about flat tires is really nice. I get about 50% more range with them as well. They look very stylish and sporty. They are definitely not as comfortable and much harder than I was expecting. It really doesn’t feel like the air cushion inside makes a difference. It seems to just help with the weight mostly. Pneumatic tires are way softer and more comfortable and a lot more grippy. I don’t consider the rovers to be off-road wheels as they don’t have nowhere near the same grip in the dirt. I’d like to say they’re extra efficient street wheels that add some comfort because of their large diameter. But all in all I mostly use the rovers for the peace of mind and efficiency. They are great.

I wonder if the 105mm cloud wheel FE’s will have wheel bite on the Exway wave. The flat surface really makes it look square.

Hey Daniel, I have a question about wheel sizes. Is there a max size I can use on a shortboard/mini? eg. I have a Wowgo Mini 2s and have tried the 105mm Cloudwheel Discovery's and also currently using the 105mm Mad Wheelz V2's... I have heard people warn of "wheel bite", but I have yet to experience this. Is it possible to use a 120mm on a mini? I'm tempted to try the Cloudwheel Discovery FE's... I really like the grip of the Mad Wheelz, but I miss that little extra comfort of the Cloudwheels.... I'm wondering if the Discovery FE's would be a nice middle ground?
@DanielKwanКүн бұрын
I wouldn’t use 120mm on a shortboard. Will definitely get wheelbite unless you do something to add more height. You felt the original Cloudwheels were more comfortable than Mad Wheelz? I thought it was the other way around. Maybe depends on type of terrain.
@1stdan81Күн бұрын
@@DanielKwan yeah slightly more comfortable... I guess because of the rounded contact patch? I assume I'm getting less impact from the bumps and cracks on certain paths (at the cost of grip of course)... However on roads they're probably pretty similar in terms of comfort. I dunno... It's been a while since I swapped from the Cloudwheels to Mad Wheelz - I should swap back just to see Though I did just watch ESK8UNITY's new video on the Discovery FE's and he was saying the Mad Wheelz felt more comfortable (on the 105's at least)... So I'm thinking it might be an unnecessary purchase right now. Especially since I'm saving for a longboard later this year :)

The original Discovery "off-road" certainly isn't for off-roading. On any kind of loose surface it pretty much immediately loses grip and starts breaking out, but I guess nothing really works as well as a pneumatic tire in that regard. I'd love to give the Disco FE a go, 'cause while the "off-road" is pretty good for streets and gives you high endurance, I'd gladly trade in some range in order to not get wipe-out fear, every time I see a manhole cover.

@@DanielKwan Yes they are, just like "Star Trek: The Animated Series" is. 😉 My heart is still with hub motors for their simplicity, especially after I snap a belt, but I admit I like the wheel selection (currently running Meepo 105s-which are really 102mm brand new 🤨).

My experience so far with the exway flex pro 2: +my range(74kg) when riding like a complete maniac (avg+37kmph and hitting topspeed nearly every 2min with sports acceleration+only in turbo mode and while driving with LOTS of hill was: 32km! If you drive in gear 3(which is fast) with normal acceleration mode and not like me all the time max speed and crushing hills at 35kmph you will get easily 40km+ +remote is awesome (touchscreen, a lot of function,gyro for blinking,feels comfortable, lasts very long and no connection issues at all) -but there are a lof os settings read the online manual for the rexus remote +deck feels comfortable is concave and locks you in very good. It has some bounce and absorbs a lot, grip is great aswell +trucks are also good nothing to complain +torque in turbo mode with "sports" acceleration is very quick and more than enough for most (change the acceleration curve in the app) +top speed flat: 48kmph so very fast even with 90mm wheels +Wheels are solid nothing special and grip is like most wheels +comes with extra features that I love like diff lighting modes,guard protection,app support) The onyl bad thing is connecting app to board!!doesn't work with android only with ios and even there had problems Overall amazing value and enough torque,speed, features and customizability
