@@babuzar I wish 93 was either a top 5 or top 6 shootout instead. Cut out 10 in q1 since it matters the least. Clears up the track, makes it so that cars have a greater chance to set an actual representative time, rather than getting bogged down in traffic.

I wouldn’t say he destroyed ricciardo. Did he have the measure of him at the end of 2018, absolutely but ricciardo was already mentally out the door. Plus a few races, they (Red Bull) gave max the preferred strategy even when ricciardo qualified ahead. Also I think Perez will out-qualify max a total of 2 times. Max has this unreal quali pace.

Daniel got preferred strategy so many times, when Max was ahead on track! Most notably baku’18 when max was pushing hamilton, but couldn’t get past bc the speed of the mercs on the straights, and had to back off out of the dirty air, right back into daniel, which made it seem like daniel could keep up! Max complained about wanting to pit multiple times, but they kept him out! rbr waited forever for daniel to pass him, and when he did (it coincidentally also showed that daniel couldn’t catch ham like max could) they pitted daniel! Max pushed out a super lap, got in front of daniel again during daniel’s pitstop, which caught the entire rbr crew off guard, which led to rics engineer egging daniel on to get him, instead of calming him down and then... well we all know what happened! Marko and horner later on said they had no idea how tf max pushed out a lap like that during daniel’s pitstop Also, almost all of daniel’s rbr podiums in ‘17+’18 came during races where max was ahead of daniel, but had a dnf, whereas almost all of max’s podiums, he was either already in front of daniel bc of quali results or bc of passing him on track, and any dnf’s from daniel had no effect on max’s win or podium

And tommy said that max destroyed carlos at toro rosso which is definitely not true. They were very close in terms of pace but toro rossos reliability wasnt that good. I also think max and daniel were very close in their seasons in RBR so he really didnt destroy him as they said there.

Since the Max vs Daniel discussion is eternally ongoing, and I want to find this post again for myself, I'll leave this here and settle it. If you disagree with something, please reply: Max vs Daniel stats over all their races together: Points: Max 608 - Ric 590 DNFs: Max 13 - Ric 14 Wins: Max 3 - Ric 3 Podiums: Max 22 - Ric 19 Qualifying (it is impossible to correct for qualis that were counted, but a driver had minor issues): Max - Ric 2016: 6 -10 2017: 13 - 7 2018: 15 - 5 Total: Max 34 - Ric 22 Conclusion: Taking into account where Max was coming from, and that Ricciardo was established lead driver, the correct conclusion seems to be that Max was better. Ricciardo by no means did badly, evidenced by the fact he went on to beat a few teammates at Renault. However, in these stats we are taking a total over a time when Max was still maturing/improving so the picture is distorted. With his contemporary consistency and speed he would probably beat Ricciardo more convincingly than these stats show. However, as I already said, Ricciardo was very close, and beat Max on occassion as well so he should be rated highly.

Looking forward to this season, I think the starting grid is one of the best for the last few years, the cars seem incredibly close, and the inter team battles look like they’ll be close in every team (except merc). I’d argue there’s probably only 1 driver whose perhaps not at the quality as others, maybe 2, but it looks to be a close season

Max didnt wipe the floor with Danny Ric in 2018. Ricciardo won in China and Monaco and up to then Ric was clearly in the lead. Max got his stuff together after Monaco and started getting good results whilst Danny was plagued with a billion reliability issues until the end of the season. They finished with two wins each but max had ~80 extra points but also 5 fewer retirements

Well.. Getting into Q3 is gonna be a hard task I think.. if Ferrari are improving, we have potentially McLaren, Ferrari, AstonMartin, Alpine and possibly AlphaTauri in a very tight fight. If Mercedes And Red Bull lock out the first two rows, from 5th to 14th is an open battlefield.

Even if Ferrari don't drastically improve it would still be a close fight, Leclerc made Q3 11 times out of 17 last year. With Sainz joining that's 2 great qualifiers in the team. Alpine's and Aston Martin are the unknowns. Stroll's qauli is unpredictable Vettel's was poor in comparison to Leclerc so it will be interesting to see if he can get his mojo back. Ocon was well let's just be honest, he underperformed massively for most of the season. Alonso is a 40 year old rookie, so it will be interesting to see if this young champ's lack of experience can make up for the 2 years he's spent out of the cockpit.

All the talk of Melbourne being a Mercedes track, Ferrari won in 17 and 18 and were surprisingly close to the pace in 16 despite their pace for the rest of the year. Only 19 was a walkover for Merc since 2015 anyway.

I think the same lol merc had fewest laps and not many super fast runs but off merc gonna win and aston did a few moelrw laps and fairly good times even though they probably didnt get to into the groove with the car, they where easy 3rd last year if checo and lance didnt get covid and didnt crash 2 times, and everyone is saying that its a carry over and they are very simpler which they are, i think them thinking they will suck is a bit based off they engine and gearbox issues, but its merc they will fix it

Sergio should arguably qualify top 4. He will continue to take care of his tires as he has his whole career which means he will be a real threat. Beating Max I doubt it but every once in a while it will happen.

Pretty sure it was a combination of things. Max was faster and they wanted to make him the youngest WC. But there's no indication that he got preferable treatment. Maybe the Baku incident could've been handled better but that's about it.

Max n Ricardo where on par with each other. Daniel left because of the favourite to max from the team n he still was able to match him. Both have grown since there time together. Max is still a hot head and makes a fair few mistakes. The way Daniel made seb look ordinary coming off the back of 4 championships was way more impressive and kept in the title fight for 2014 quite late on in the championship. Max hasn’t been in that sort of position yet so we don’t know exactly for sure how he will cope with that sort of pressure. He has the raw speed for sure.

Genuinely think the order will be: Mercedes Red Bull McLaren Ferrari Alpine AlphaTauri Aston Martin Alfa Romeo Williams Haas Not that confident in AM. And tbh, I don’t think their driver lineup helps. Stroll is very hit or miss and Vettel hasn’t been on top form as of late. Also think Mercedes will be ahead of RB tbh, but it’ll be close. I reckon Red Bull might pip the constructors but HAM will win the title.
