Just 10 minutes ago I snatched up two of the dolls at Barbie .com. The Black male with the braided hair, and the curvy Black female, because I know that they will probably be the first to become unattainable, due to demand. Love the representation of a dark tone doll, I've been waiting for a dark tone AA ken doll. GREAT JOB TEAM AT MATTEL.

I agree with you on the One Modern Circle doll series. I liked them because at the time they were Mattel's only "soap opera" Barbie family. I love the new black and white clothed dolls. Thank you for always sharing and keeping up with the new Barbie families. The First Look Barbies are a great investment (in my opinion) for a Barbie collector.

I remember those Basic Barbie lines from late 90s, early 2000s. They looked so modern, had a ton of face sculpts, and they really looked like Adult Collectable dolls. This line looks really promising and affordable, and I adore the MTM bodies!

This line looks amazing. I would love to display them all together in an acrylic case, with a black and white background, like a chess board. My favourite is the tall blonde. She looks like Margot Robbie playing Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The petit girl looks gorgeous too. Definitely, this is modern art.

I plan to get the AA Ken and the curvy AA girl for sure. I will have to see more of the tall blond and Latina girl to decide on those. The Asian girl and blonde Ken don’t really do much for me, but I’m sure others will like them. If the face paint is good and the clothing fabric is decent, this line is a real winner. I still like the Basics line better, but I’m not paying eBay prices for them.

I collect tbleague/phicen 1/6 figures but _had_ to get a few Elle (model #2). TBL doesn't make AA ladies but this Barbie is nice. Nothing beats the stainless steel skeletons and soft seamless skin of the tbleague bodies.

I love how opposite these are to BMR. I loved the BMR dolls, but its fun seeing such a different look for these dolls. Like going from full color to no color is a fun choice.

I agree. Jason really gave credit to the BMR dolls which were amazing and actually a great value for the money. Not many people seemed to support them. I was disappointed when Mattel discontinued the BMR series but these Looks dolls are amazing as well. I love the extra dolls too. I think the fashionistas are great as basic inexpensive dolls and the Looks and the Extra dolls are great as dolls that have a bit more.

Loved the addition of those image montages of the dolls you are talking about, Jason! Looks way more professional. I love this new range, which is strange for me, I know, being strictly vintage!!! (Their faces and makeup are the best I've seen in many years!) which makes sense as the last modern Barbie line I REALLY loved was the Barbie basics line as these two lines are also TOTALLY my personal aesthetic. (In fact, everything that the Basics Kens wore have been my wardrobe staples since the 90's! LOL ... Simple and minimal may be boring and bland to some, but it does not date at all! It looks great in any era.) LOVELOVELOVE that Asian petite gal and her outfit and the dark complected guy in all-white!!! I'm with you and don't care for the MTM bodies at all, (though I agree that Ken's body looks less 'robotic' than Barbie's.) so I actually wouldn't mind if you re-bodied them because their heads are all divine! But there is also something to be said for appreciating them as-is! Fashion packs for these would be major!!! I'm picturing all this really cool classic Jil Sander-ish stuff!!!

OMG! Mattel has finally listened to us, Barbie doll collectors. That's what I've been waiting for in years! We all know that quality has decreased a lot in the last decade. Poor outfits, pixeled face painting and the absence of articulations in the Fashionista dolls are among the bad aspects we have seen in this line that should be changed back to what it used to be in the early 2010's and a little earlier than that. But, of course, I prefer dolls with made to move bodies. But I wish they made fashionista dolls with a made to move body. One more thing: We want more red-haired ken dolls, please (with real hair, preferably). Now, about this Barbie Looks dolls, I want them all! I love the African American Ken doll!! He's definitely in my must-to-buy list. I also want the blond guy (he's hot). And the girls are all gorgeous, especially the African American curvy doll and the Asian with short hair. I definitely need them in my collection. And, last but not least, the blond and the latina dolls come just after the others I just mentioned.

I have never seen these dolls until this video May 22,2021. Even Mattel website does not have these dolls. I am even a member on Barbie Signature. So how did you get a hold of these dolls? I'm not sure I really like what they are doing to them compared to the ones they had a while back. The first ones were better. I have a few of them with the black dress series and jeans and swimsuits and city shine and the red and white clothes.

You'll have to see which Fashionista Ken heads are a good match for that body. You could end up with several different face sculpts with MTM bodies. That would be cool. The price point for a MTM body is not bad. I love the actual hair on this one.

I hate you! 😄. Another line I MUST get! They're fantastic looking! I like the black Ken. Odds are that he'll be the most hard to get and probably the most expensive because people will know how much people will want him. Very handsome doll as well. I want to get the males first and maybe the Asian. She's very pretty. I'd like to get them all but I usually have to wait due to funds. Then by the time I have the money they are beyond my price range. For me I have to get them on Ebay or Amazon. I am home bound and can't go to the store so have to rely on online and that's always expensive.

I'm very excited for the blonde Ken and the petite Asian! I also like the curvy and classic ones, but I prefer the other two the best. I actually dislike the platinum blonde, and I'm still unsure how I feel about the black Ken. His skintone is absolutely gorgeous, but his hair is just too styled. I don't know if that one would stand up to much restyling, which I like to do when I can.

These showed up for pre order on Amazon on the 28th, but I only managed to get one-the blonde male. It was super frustrating because most of the dolls had a message saying they couldn't ship to my address, even though it should not have been a problem. I am guessing, due to limited quantity, they only made a doll or two available to each region of the country, but not sure. The dolls sold out very quickly, except for the brunette male and now you can find them at 4 times the original price on Ebay. The actual release date is June 1st, so I am waiting until then to see if they will be sold anywhere else other than Amazon for retail price before spending a fortune. I really wanted at least one male and one female doll to use as models for my sewing. Was hoping to get the brunette girl with the original body type, but she seemed the rarest of all. I am new to this Barbie thing as I finally have some little girls to sew for. Is this how things usually go with the collector releases? They are available for a few hours from one retailer never to be found again at the original price? Or, will they at least show up on the Mattel site?

As a tacky girl.....(haha) my favourite is the brunette girl with long hair (so similar to Barbie The Look with grey sweater dress City chic style). I must admit that , except for the boys and perhaps platinum girl , the outfits do not say much to me but I love them as an ensemble. Although, I do not think they`ll cost 20 euros here as for to GET all of them!!! that`s why I will pass on the short haired girl for sure. I wish they have used my favourite Ken sculpt and haircut from Brunette #15 (basics denim. Recently used for BMR in orange hoodie Ken). The 2011 basics in denim are my dream collection as well and I agree, much more cool in model muse bodies.

Thanks for sharing this news. This line reminds me of Integrity Toys' Fashion Royalty series - only the Mattel dolls are less detailed and with fewer doo-hickies. I like the 2 guys. I'll wait to see the females: if they have new face molds, yes. The blonde looks like the Mackie face mold and the AA could be the Puma face mold. I like the blonde's dress and the Asian's two piece top and skirt. The jumpsuit and the white top and kerchief skirt - meh. The black leather pants won't stay with the blond guy: he looks too slick in them. The two-colored look is classy but I like jeans and colors for my dolls. (Except putrid color combos like purple with green-pink-etc.)
