2021 BMW G310R BS6 Review | Top 5 Changes | The KTM Duke 390 Alternative | BikeWale

BMW Motorrad India has introduced the BS6 compliant G310R with a host of updates. Ofcourse, its 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine has been revised to comply with the new emission norms. But the German bike maker has also bestowed it with full-LED lighting, a slipper clutch, a ride-by-wire throttle and adjustable levers. Moreover, it comes with revised styling along with three spanking new colour options. So, how much of an improvement is it over the BS4 model? Yes. Bcz BMW is more comfortable to ride in lower speed, also is more comfortable for the pillion too, I have both the bikes now. Both BS6 version. I like BMW for the daily ride . KTM is however faster & fun to ride too.. but only when u feel riding faster 24/7.

I have KTM 390. I also have booked this motorcycle. I really face problem to ride KTM 390 in day to day use when I have to ride a bit slow.. KTM is a faster motorcycle. But BMW is better for everyone doing anything.

You can expect smoother gear shifts after 1st service and even finding neutral gear shift is better afterwards. 👍 Faced same problem initially, now its smooth as it can get. You definitely need a tyre hugger and wind shield though.

Thank you for letting us know. I took it for a test ride of late and found the gearbox to be pretty clunky. Your comment gave me a bit of hope that it would smoother after the first service. How are you finding the bike to be after a year?

@@AthifKhan overall happy with bike. There are some cons though. Faced issue with self start due to battery voltage not being sufficient (basically battery died before warranty yet to be replaced, using some other brand. works fine), surprisingly it did not show in indicator given. Costly 2nd service (17K around - some were related to parts around 6K. Better buy outside) There are some vibrations and you can feel it when you go for longer rides. Even when wearing glows your fingers will be feeling numb. Pros: Good pickup. Not too aggressive like KTM bikes. Better Quality of materials used in bike. You can feel it. Smooth handling. Difference can be noticed in first ride itself. Average fuel economy. Expect 30kmpl in city and 35kmpl in highway. Again depends on how you ride. You will get lot of attention from crowd. Especially when you are not in metro city. Makes you feel proud 😁

What's Missing ? 1, Modern TFT Display with Bluetooth and Turn by Turn Navigation. 2, Riding Modes. 3, Traction Control. 4, Quick Shifter. 5, More Grip Tyres. 6, Seat Height could have been 780mm. 7, Rear Suspension Cover. 8, More Smooth Clutch and Gear Change. If BMW could have given all These too with lesser Price Cut, The G310R could have been A Smash Hit no doubt.

I have got gt650 bs6 and all i can tell u that its an amazing cafe racer. Some people might have to deal with the weight problem but u can get habituated with time. It has got 0 VIBRATIONS. The only slight issue i face is with the fuel gauge cause it never shows u the correct fuel tank. And u might feel some wrist and back pains after hrs of riding. Basically u cant take it for touring. Very much torquey engine and just glides through the corners smoothly. And its the most cheapest 650cc u could ever get.

Both aren't available in India but yes the kawasaki 400s(ninja and z) have the lightest clutch in the segment even the yamaha r3 and mt-03 have a light clutch but the kawasaki ones are so light that you may feel it's too light

Bro if u usually ride on roads i mean stagnant roads then go for g310r. Otherhand, if there are any real major offroad patches then go for g310gs else GS is useless. Because it is unusually tall.

For a normal consumer it hard to provide 6k to 7k in a first service charge then after 1 year what will be soo. Duke 390 is more better than G310 R! And duke 390 has also quick gear shifter plus which means u can change easily gears without using clutch. It helps in more indian traffic. And also duke 390 is more power than BMW. So i think 390 beats G310 R
