Congrats on the bike, side note the M Version has rear ride height adjustment and swing arm pivot as well, which are pretty major things to have, but great to see a fellow Aussie doing the new bmw vids

When you finally get it unrestricted and "give it the beans" above 10k RPM, it is going to Blow Your Mind!!! I first rode one at Virginia International Raceway here in the USA, and it was amazing. Cheers from the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina USA : )

@@sonics747 I purchased my Hockenheim Silver S1000RR in Sept 2020 and have put around 3000 "spirited" miles on it. I ride twisty mountain roads early in the morning (full race suit) before people wake up and get out. On the street I mostly ride below 10k RPM and it has "very strong" and "controllable" power in that range. In longer straight line sections I let it rip for a few seconds, but in high rpms. it pulls so brutally quick through 100-125 mph (160-200 kph) that you can easily get into trouble and overshoot corner entry on public winding roads. IMHO the 2020+ BMW S1000RR is the best dual purpose street/race motorcycle bike currently in production.

Great review thanks. No plans to change the exhaust on mine - worried about warranty and insurance consequences. I did do a full set of R&G protectors on it - crash bungs / radiator guards / axle protectors etc but did not put any engine casing protectors and I like that bronze matching the rear frame. Wish I had the Australian weather over here. Have mine since early January and only managed 570km on it so far over the weather.

Great video mate. So good to see some Australian content on this bike. I have the BMW 2020 s1000r & it's a ripper but the s1000rr is a deadset rocketship. I sat on one today & I'm too short to be confident if I'm being honest.

@@Brookmanrider Would be good to hear your views. Personally, I think BMW dropped the ball on the 2021 update. They should have gone for 170bhp & for a range of 100NM-120NM torque. Respect.

Great review. I went for a look at one today - comparing to an MV Agusta. Was concerned about comfort - you seem to find it ok so far. Not too bad on the wrists compared to the Speed Triple? I would be moving from an MT10 and had an 2018 Speed Triple previously.

It's good to hear that the Australian version doesn't have that flat spot the USA models have. I just sold my 2015 S1000RR and I'm now in the market for a new bike. I know if I test ride the new BMW I'll probably end up buying it. Great review 👍 you just got a new subscriber.

There is still a flat spot between 8-9500k rpm, when you end up going for your first service and the bike is completely unlocked you will see what I mean, most people recommended getting a bren tuning flash from America as it eliminates all that plus the weird/uneven cold starts you get

Yeah it’s not there on the Australian model. I didn’t notice any real flat spot.

Looking at the 2020 Fast Bike dyno graphs, the V4 is a bit softer on torque from 4-8krpm, but from 8krpm there's bugger all between them. That's only Aus/UK models though.

I own a 2020 S1000RR (which afaik is the same as the 2021 aside from colour selection) and ride in Sydney CBD and I have never done 30 kph in 3rd gear and would never intend to. You're either in 1st or 2nd in the city. There are two reasons that I can think of to change up to second: 1) It's much easier to shift from 2nd into neutral than 1st into neutral when you stop at lights 2) it's quieter (so less annoying to pedestrians).
