The proper fix for that and I have personally done it is where yout carrier bearing is drill and tap the yoke and install a set screw with loctite. And on the opposite side drill and tap a hole for a grease fitting. 100% got rid of the rattle. Now can am has produced a updated drive shaft with cardboard inside the tube to dampen vibrations. But again I would drill and tap the yoke . And cut a hole in the skid plate to grease occasionally.

Do you have a picture of the yoke you drilled?

It’s great how you took on the fix yourself…would adding some grease on all the splines help? Just got the Commander XT-P 2 seater…
@tbslone Жыл бұрын
The grease helps but it don’t last long before it comes back I seen where people are getting a pice of heater hose that has the same size inside diameter of the drive shaft and sliding it over. The rubber on the hose works as a damper and takes out the vibration I’m going to try that some time I’ll post a video when I do but it may be a while I’ve got a bunch of other stuff going on

Wish I would have read this comments before getting my 2022 model. Mine was in the shop day after purchase. 3weeks later, it’s still there today

Have you considered trying the set screw fix?
@tbslone Жыл бұрын
i thought bout it but a lot of people say it doesn't work and i don't like the idea of tightening down a set screw on the output splines
@kevinowens9947 Жыл бұрын
Did you follow up and add oil to the drive shaft with any success?
@tbslone Жыл бұрын
i ended up doing the radiator hose trick where you slide a tight fitting radiator hose over the drive shaft and it takes the acoustics out of the vibration it worked well for that but i still have like a roar but I think it is more from the smart lok diff I installed. I did a video in the radiator hose I just aint uploaded it yet. I've not had the time to edit some videos I've done recently

Did the bearing make much difference after the fact? Mines been in the shop now for 7 weeks for the same issue and they can't find the part.
@tbslone Жыл бұрын
the main thing it did was just change the rpm where the vibration starts i have been sing where people are taking radiator hose and sliding over the drove shaft so it will dampen the harmonics im thinking bout trying that some time

Look at my posted comment above. Dealers will do this procedure. Most are to lazy or I'll informed to do so

Is this what I’m hearing on my 21 commander xt max? Starts at lower throttle lower load and goes away under 3/4 throttle or so, sounds like a loose bolt or heat shield rattling?
@tbslone3 жыл бұрын
yea more then likely i hear that can am has a fix finally that involves a different size drive shaft but i have still not seen the dealer TSB on it
@Jeff-gk6kp3 жыл бұрын
I've had the new shaft installed. It doesn't fix the issue, just changes the rpm range where it comes in (38-4300). Not the only one who's had issues with the new one either. I'm extremely disappointed in Can Am.

@@Jeff-gk6kp i like the can am over the problems i had with my rzr but yea not real happy with the support on the drive line issue, with installing the carrier bearing i could ignore it till i installed a 1/2 uhmw skid plate and a full cab in closure know it is very load in side

@@tbslone Thanks for the update. Was going to ask you about the difference with the new bearing and whether it was worth it. I plan to hammer Can Am on this tomorrow. My dealer has been good but there are no other options available to them unless Can Am gets involved. Like the channel, subscribed because of the hat @ 1:45

I have a 2022 Commander Max XT. I called my dealer and they are aware of the problem. Im on the list for a new upgraded driveshaft, but wont get it until September.

Wonder if you could take the shafts and have them balanced?
@tbslone3 жыл бұрын
don't think balancing will help the noise is when the drive shaft isn't turning. can am isn't like the Polaris rzr their driveshaft turns all the time the can am only turn when engaged in 4x4. being in 4x4 actually helps reduce the noise from having some pressure on it drive shaft

Wow my x3 has a rattle but I’m thinking now that it’s not the drive line I already greased splints and it still does it. Only does it when driving hit about 45-51 rpm and 25-30mph it does not do it at idle or rev. Just between that driving circumstance. It sounds like a heat shield on mine I put clamp on exhaust springs. But your shaft is terribly loud wow. Pay all this money for these and they shouldn’t do this stuff.

My 2022 commander max XT has the rattle. It’s embarrassing to be honest. So loud from around 3k to 4300 ish. If you keep the revs up it goes away but dang it sounds like rattle can crap… sucks
@tbslone Жыл бұрын
i only run my 4x4 when i need it that way i don't have to listen to it all the time i also recently did the radiator hose on the driveshaft and it made the biggest difference but can still hear it a little
