I learned from another video that 1096L usps boxes fit perfectly in the flat rate envelope. Makes it so much easier to close the envelopes! Also fits in a padded flat rate if you need extra protection for your item.

The post offices in some areas, and some postal workers in some postal offices, will try to tell you that on the flat rate shipping envelopes (both regular and legal) that you're not supposed to ship fat things in them... but that's not true. When you look at the USPS website it gives the allowed length and height of the envelope, it does not give a width measurement. This is your proof that there is no restriction on the width, or thickness, and there is nothing anywhere that they can show you where it says that you can't other than their own paper that they print up in their own office because they think there is a restriction (which is wrong) so don't let them tell you you can't ship some thing two or 3 inches thick in the flat rate envelopes. MAKE THEM PROVE IT 👍

I finally used a regional A box. I ordered some about 3 months ago. A buyer bought two pairs of jeans from me. Packed them in cellophane and then placed in this box. Shipped for $10.98!

It is kinda interesting how much things differ with shipping depending on what we sell by size and weight. I just used a small flat rate priority box to ship some pad locks. Small flat rate boxes are good for heavy small items.

Padded flat rate is not $8.49 rates are up for the holidays, they will drop for a few weeks after and then jump back up for a rate increase for the year.

Question. Recently sold an item and shipped via UPS. Printed label on ebay and shipped out item like ive been several times. the customer received item with no complaints. I just got a bill on ebay for $20.62. Titled "UPS Shipping Label Fee" What is this? Any help would be helpful!

I am very confused and I know I have something wrong. So if you use a flat rate box, that charges you a certain amount to ship what inside. But, doesn't Ebay charge you for a shipping label. Therefore wouldn't a regular normal box be less expensive that a flat rate box? Can someone please explain?

Padded flat rate envelopes shipping out of SE Michigan are $8 for me. I guess you get a bigger discount with eBay because of the kind of store you have.

I use the priority mail legal envelope for bulkier items (a coat recently!) that won't fit in the regular envelope. If you reinforce with tape first, it won't rip as much when you are forcing in your bagged item. It's a few cents more but I can avoid a heavy box that way!

Ashley, just curious. When you use Pirate Ship for an item that is priority mail weight, do you just use the box option with the weight and deminsions or are you wrapping in a poly bag and is it box in bag option? I had an examp!e: Say I have an item that is 5 lbs but small. It will fit in a priority shoebox but is small so I am going to resize the box and make it a little smaller to fit the item. Instead of paying the eBay price for shipping, can you use Pirate Ship and select the regular box option using that USPS box? Or does it need to be a plain box? I hope this was not confusing. Would love to see a quick video showing the options/methods you use on Pirate Ship. Thanks

Yes you can! I still always do first class if it weighs under a pound, and have never had a single issue with it. First class ships just as fast 🙏🏻

What would you suggest I do with this conundrum (sp?) its late! I have a couple lamps, they have glass shades. They were manufactured in the 70's so they're heavy, made of brass and wood. Buyers do not seem to mind the prices of either 1 for 70 or two for 140 but cringe and bow out when they see the shipping rate ebay has calculated based on other lamps sold like it. I can't now jack up the price and then offer free shipping, that looks sketchy no? I originally priced them at about 75 percent of past sales (lamps like them). What would your suggestion be?

A few months ago I had a person in Chile buy an item from me. I used the Ebay international shipping system. I was charged first class rate to ship the item to Chile. However as the item was subject to tariff it had to be shipped by priority mail per regulations of Chile. The Ebay system was unaware of the regulation so it took an extended time to get the item back. So if you ship internationally check the regulations for the destination country.

You can not use Priority “flat rate” boxes for Poshmark. All priority boxes without flat rate that meet the weight criteria are accepted

How do you get a store ? I am a new seller have been selling since 2021 in June my most challenging item this year in 2022 was a 21 inch banjo I had to use a box because of the shape and wrap it in bubblewrap🤣🤣🤣🤣when I sold it I was happy but shipping was a huge issue until I thought about it for a day or two.

For larger shoes, still use a padded flat rate, just stretch the plastic when sealing it, then reinforce the sealing it with wide tape. Tape the heck out of it. Then throw it. Just throw it across the room and see if it opens. Just kidding. DON'T THROW IT. And I've been able to fit men's converse shoes, larger up to size 11 or so into the Legal Flat Rate Envelope, easy if you put it into cellophane first, and TAPE THE EDGES OF THE ENVELOPE BEFORE putting the shoes in. I usually add this to the listing, telling the buyers there's no box coming (not so obvious i found, BDR), AND that I'm squishing the heck out of these shoes to save us both money on shipping.

Yes, all types of shoes! I have never had a single buyer complaint, so I'm going to take that as a good sign buyers don't mind. I do wrap each shoe in a cellophane bag first, though, so I do feel that adds another layer of protection. Thanks!
