*Max Payload* 4x4 SuperCab - 1,650lbs SuperCrew - 1,560lbs Tremor - 1,430lbs 4x2 SuperCab - 1,860lbs SuperCrew - 1,770lbs The max payload for your Ranger will depend on how your truck is configured. Every option you add in has a net weight so that will affect the total payload capacity for your truck. To know the exact number for the truck in your driveway check the yellow sticker on the driver's door. Thanks to Andy MC for asking for clarification on payload in the Ranger!

I just got the 2021 XLT FX2 SuperCrew for some moderate offroading and also as a daily driver here in Texas. Feels a little like driving an SUV from a treehouse, but very capable and fun. I swore off buying Ford trucks as the F150 felt too much like work and the old Rangers were too small and never had 4 doors. This is a happy medium. Good review! I still cant figure out my infotainment stuff, so I will be watching this video back a few times.

Thanks Justin, hopefully the video covers what you need to know! Great that Ford was able to win you over! It's funny how Ford trucks have evolved. New Ranger is the midsize and the Maverick is the old Ranger size - it's something for everyone. If you do some offroading videos be sure to jump back here and share a link!

You're welcome! Good to hear you're enjoying yours too! What build did you go with for your Ranger?
@kevinmortensen82422 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. Bought mine from a dealer with 16k mi. XLT SuperCrew Iconic silver, black grille, smoky headlamps, step rail. Prev owner did 20in Moto Metal wheels, BF Goodrich Baja Champion KO2 tyres. It sincerely looks sharp. I'm NOT 6ft so the added lift gives me a better 360°. I also dig the 2.3 litre. Surprisingly peppy and accelerates nicely from 65mph. I've never driven 4wd so I've got some things to learn. We have off road trails and get snow so I'm looking forward to miles of adventure. You're awesome Steve, keep up the great programme.

Overall, great video with a lot of detail. However, one spec was missing and in my opinion it’s one of the most important when planning to tow. What is the payload of this version of the truck? Most people hit the max payload before ever hitting the max tow capacity. I’m addition, I’m curious if this Ranger, or any of them, have a brake controller. However, I still think it was a great video with a lot of info within it. Cheers. Andy Mc.
@CarsWithSteve3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for pointing that out Andy! Going to pin a comment talking about payload now. For this truck the max payload is: 4x4 SuperCab - 1,650lbs SuperCrew - 1,560lbs 4x2 SuperCab - 1,860lbs SuperCrew - 1,770lbs There's no option from the factory for a brake controller but there are a few aftermarket solutions available
@justinwideman34713 жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve none of the versions from the factory come with a BC but there is one Ford sells that can be dealer-installed. I think Ford added the tow package due to it's capiblity, but only expects people to tow small items like motorbike trailers, jetskis, maybe a small boat, etc so the BC is not so important.
@CarsWithSteve3 жыл бұрын
@@justinwideman3471 Thanks for confirming availability of the brake controller for people that are reading these comments! Good point on the size and lack of BC from the factory - didn't think about that reasoning why

So do the head rests on the back seat row come off so when you fold down the back seat it can lay flat????
@CarsWithSteve3 жыл бұрын
For some reason some of the rear seats in the Ranger have headrests that fold (there would be a small button along the headrest) and others don't. If yours doesn't have it there's no way to fold it down so you could either move the 1st row seats forward or permanently remove the 2nd row headrests

Can anyone say what has been their experience with how fast the fuel burns?
@CarsWithSteve22 күн бұрын
Depends on your driving habits.. I've found that highway driving at or just above the speed limit is pretty close to stated numbers when you aren't towing or don't have much payload, while highway driving is better than advertised. Heavy towing/payload has been a 15-20% ish drop depending on how much you're pulling
@donaldrolle142421 күн бұрын
Thank you for your response. The reason I asked was because the other day I was sitting in the truck going over the sync 3 features from your previous video, I watched the fuel gage go from 22 miles to empty to about 9 miles to empty and I wasn't even driving. I was just sitting with the truck on for about 20 to 30 mins. Does this seem normal?
@CarsWithSteve21 күн бұрын
Yeah that'll be normal for most cars. Idling uses up more gas than people realize. I notice that fuel drop in every car/truck I review when I'm doing the interior tech walkthrough videos

The refresh for the 2024 model definitely helped out but I'm surprised that things are falling apart on yours. I've seen a few 2021 models that showed some signs of sun damage on the dash but still in good shape otherwise. What things are falling apart?
