2021 Giant Stance 2 Rear Shock Upgrade to a RockShox with Lockout.

This is a how-to upgrade your Giant Stance 2 2021 Mountian bike rear shock with the RockShox Monarch RL Rear Shock. Links for the correct shock and hardware are below. Please comment with tips or errors. This was my first time! Thanks for watching and hope it helps someone.

The bushing is removed from the Rock Shox shock and no hardware is needed for the lower. Just reuse the original spacers.

Hello my friend, I want to know if when removing the Rock Shox bushing the pin will wear out when in contact with the interior, with metal on metal and its friction? Because I imagine that the bushing is sacrificial material against wear, Is it feasible to use it without a cap? Thanks my friend, bless

Just did this to my Giant Stance yesterday, and while you touched on it a bit, it's helpful to know that unless both of the spacers are put into the depression on either side of the frame before putting your lower eyelet in place to be threaded, the spacers won't fit. I had to monkey with that just a bit before I realized I had the right spacers and the right shock...I just wasn't doing things in the right sequence. Thanks for the video! I watched it a couple of times before tackling this upgrade. It helped!

Great video dude , today I'm about to change my front and rear shocks on my stance 2 to rockshox and this video is a massive help. I would change your crest forks though as iv had my bike 2 months and they have completely collapsed and the fork itself has bulged out , these forks are so dangerous and gaint should of never made them . Wish me luck , iv got the beer at the ready lol. 👍

They have said instead of the crest forks I can have the rockshox juddy but they haven't said which ones yet . I wish I never bought this bike , iv had nothing but trouble with it . 😕

When I follow that link for the hardware, there is like 2 dozen options for size. Which size did you buy? I have the same bike and want to be sure I can get the hardware before I buy the shock, since parts are such an issue nowadays.

Hi, I own a 2019 Stance and have done extensive upgrades to it so would like to offer any advice I can give. The following is that has been changed: Drivetrain: SRAM eagle GX 10-50t cassette GX derailleur GX 170 cranks XO1 shifter XX1 gold chain DUB bottom bracket SRAM 32t chainring Brakes: Shimano XT levers XT 4 pot calipers XT rotors 203 front 180 rear Suspension: Fox performance elite 150mm fork Fox dps shocks Hubs: DT Swiss 350 w/54t engagement ratchet SRAM XD driver freehub body Dropper: Stock dropper with Wolftooth remote Those are the main upgrades and I did this over the course of over 2 years so it wasn’t a financial hit on me.

Dang, you basically did a full rebuild lol. I bumped up my 2019 a little bit. SRAM SX -> NX shifter SX -> GX derailleur Ice Tech rotors, front and rear Kyle Warner PNW bars Crank Bros dropper post (as 2019 was the one year without -_- ) calipers and this RockShox are next ;) (edited to add in handlebars)

@@aaronadventure yeah, it was over-the-top and I wouldn’t recommend anyone spending this much money on upgrades but this was also a little project bike for me so I knew that going in. My 2019 came with a dropper so it sounds like you’re model is 2020 because that is also the first year it came with an eagle 1x-mine was still a Shimano 2x. I would love to swap out my 100mm dropper but fear the size small of my bike does not allow clearance for anything longer as I wanted 150mm.

Did you notice a big difference going from the raidon to monarch? I would not use the lockout so am more interested in whether you could notice a difference in the feel/plushness of the ride when on trails.

I think it should check your rear shock if it should say the measurements on the shock if it doesnt u can just measure it by taking it off the bike i have a 2021 stance but i dont think the 2020 wukd have the same one as the 2021

Ended up doing this with a fox dps and came to find out the lower spacers in-between frame and bearings were installed wrong from the factory...caused a bunch of scratches on the frame and would cause the chain to drop all the time.

Hello My friend, I want to know if the rock shox is ultimately left without the lower bushing, and I want to know if being left without the bushing would in some way damage the pin by making contact with the metal inside I have a new Giant Stance 2 from this year 2023 and it still doesn't come out of the box and I want to change the suntour and put a rock Shox monarch RT.
