I picked this bike up used and the guy said he used it 3 times and was a newbie. Its pretty rad...I got it for $1500. I see these a lot now being sold as people ran out and bought them when covid hit and now people are selling them...If I had complaints which I dont Id switch the grips for some lock one ones and get more knobby tires. My Wheels came set up tubeless as well...Im gonna run the tires till they are worn out for now. I find the seat a little hard and not shaped right for my butt. I prefer the outside to curve down more and I had a MTB Volt or something like that on MY Salsa Hard tale...So far ive beat this thing. I have hit like 15mph downhills super over super Rocky tech Pennsylvania garbage and it has taken everything ive thrown at it so far..I think it was the best bang for the buck ive seen..

I had put money down on this bike to be delivered next month. I'm a bit confused though, the pictures and video's of this bike shows brakes with 4 pistons, but Giants site listings show that this bike has the Shimano 200's which are 2 pistons. Which Shimano brakes are on this bike? Is it the MT420's?

How is the rear suspension a single pivot design? I can see atleast 4 pivot points (8 including the opposite side)
@Jamesthebikeguy2 жыл бұрын
When speaking about how many pivots are involved, you stop counting after you get to the wheel. In this case it's a single pivot because there's only one pivot at which the wheels arc is dictated from, the rest. Are linkage driving the shock. So the rest of those so-called pivots you're seeing have nothing to do with the wheel travel path or how the wheel is connected to pedaling braking or bump inputs

@equilibrium yeah bro it’s really fun, my first full suspension bike. I lost some weight, but I will say you should go with the 29 in wheel base since the center suspension will be under more pressure than usual so you might knick the pedals/derailleur while pedaling through rough surfaces

@equilibrium well most what you were claiming is false. Trance being a bigger bike isn’t true. It has shorter reach than stance. When in the 29 flavour trance even has less rear travel so the nimble argument isn’t a very good one. A person is better off saving an extra $500 and buying a trance. 1000x better bike. What the majority of riders don't know: Giant manufactures 75 to 80% of all bike frames in the world. This is a fact! Do they make nice bikes themselves? Never like the ride or colours of a Giant bike. And I mean ugly bikes....
@Jamesthebikeguy3 жыл бұрын
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's not correct. Of the overall market Giant and Merida are the most major OEM suppliers. Giant is indeed the largest however in the large landscape of bicycles they may only make up 30 or so percent. There are a lot of bikes built by them indeed for all sorts of brands, but that doesn't mean that the brands who have them build their bikes are not designing and testing on their own. The factory doesn't dictate the quality, rather it's the place that the plans are moved from paper to production.

Really? Where are there much better bikes for the same price? I don't disagree with an outdated frame, but at less than 2k in 2022 there really isn't anything else like it. If you stepped up to something $2500 you could move several generations forward, but then again that is a 40% increase in price.
