2024 Giant Stance 29 2 - Best budget / value Full Suspension Mountain bike - All the Details

The Giant Stance has been a very popular budget full suspension trail mountain bike for a number of years. Because of its budget price and the fact that not many brands even try to compete in this category, the Stance has been given a pass on some features and components that left some things to be desired.
This new 2024 Stance has pretty much taken care of all the obvious shortcomings. Features like the new through-axle rear wheel/frame, added suspension, modernized geometry and well thought out spec all add up to an improved version of this bike.
Bike weight is 33.8lbs, not bad. Price is $2299 in Canada: we don't know the US$ price at time of posting this video.
Consider this bike a perfect next step after having a hardtail mountain bike. Once you know you love riding mountain bikes but you notice your friends on their full suspension bikes being able to keep more speed through the bumpy stuff.

Finally they did the proper updates for this bike, I had a 2020 model of this, and it was 9x141mm QR in the rear, and it was like riding a spagetti noodle

I'm almost certain at this point that I'll be buying one of these next year. I love the way it looks and the simplicity of the design. 33.8 lb is really not bad at all and I would swap to lighter tires too. I had a bike with the 10 speed deore and it was flawless so I trust the new Cues. Now I have a GX bike but imo it's not worth the extra cost. One thing I know nothing about is rear shocks - is this a common size that would be easy to swap and upgrade? Maybe I'll end up having to come over to Cochrane to pick one up (in Sask).

Hi, yes, the rear shock is a common size. 190x45. Marzocchi, Fox and Rockshox all make that size (availability on rear shocks can be a little hit and miss because of the number of sizes they make but they do make them).

If The Extra Money Was There Would You Pick Stance 1 Over Stance 2? The Upgrades Worth It? Or Just Get Stance 2 & Do Some Upgrades? This Would Be My First Bike

I have a personal bias (and actually all the shop staff do) against Sram SX rear derailleurs so we don't even bring in the Stance 29 1. We've seen far too much inconsistency in quality and performance from one bike with SX to the next... a couple bikes work well and others have caused a lot of frustration for customers and our mechanics trying to get the shifting to work nicely and remain in adjustment. The most interesting feature on the Stance 1, in my opinion, is the fork which is modestly upgraded from the Stance 2 - with that exception I would probably choose the Stance 2 over the the Stance 1 even if the price was equal.

I don't know anything about motorcycles... upgrades are something many people enjoy doing and add to the ownership experience (for some). We get many questions about upgrades and upgradeability on bikes like this
